We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. – George Orwell, “1984”
WRAL.com reported last night that
A group of protesters in Durham toppled a Confederate monument Monday evening. 168 Protesters chose to gather near the courthouse for a reason, calling the Confederate Soldiers Monument a symbol of oppression and racism.
Several men used a ladder to reach the top of statue, which had been sprayed with cooking spray by authorities to make it more difficult to climb, and it was pulled down with a strap.
“To call attention to how many states in the south still have these Confederate monuments, these symbols that are emboldening and giving strength to the Nazis and the KKK,” said demonstrator Qasima Wideman.
Wideman said symbols like the Confederate statue feel like a personal attack. 3
“The state is at war with me and with people like me,” Wideman said. “Seeing the events this weekend made me feel like this is really a war.”
Police did not step in when the ladders went up against the statue. The Durham Police Department said that no arrests were made by officers at the scene because the Durham County Sheriff’s Office has jurisdiction over all county buildings and landmarks, including the courthouse where the monument was toppled.
In 2015, the General Assembly passed a state law that prevents the removal or relocation of any monument or memorial unless lawmakers pass legislation to allow it.
“It’s unfortunate, but not surprising, given the environment we’re in. Fortunately, something inanimate was damaged, rather than any person being hurt,” said Mayor Bill Bell in response to the incident. “County and city officials will work together to protect each other’s property. We all have to consider the environment in our area. I don’t believe any other property is endangered. I believe the protestors accomplished what they wished to accomplish. But, most importantly, I’m grateful no one was hurt.”
Organizers of Monday’s protest said they are anti-racist and anti-fascist and the event was a response to Saturday’s demonstrations in Charlottesville, Va., where one protester was killed.
“We showed up to make racists afraid again, to shout down the Nazis,” said demonstrator Alissa Ellis.
Scott Holmes, an assistant professor of law at North Carolina Central University was observing the protest before the statue was toppled.
“I hope that folks have conversations that are civil, that are kind,” Holmes said. “It is also important to name racists and name class and name gender discrimination and to hold people accountable who violate those norms.”
On the wall beside my computer desk, hangs my family crest, which I shipped to my Daddy (Southern Colloquialism for male parental unit) in the summer of 1978, from The Insignia Shoppe in York, England.
This same family crest also hangs in the home of Jefferson Davis, distinguished Graduate of West Point Academy, and the President of the Confederate States of America.
I am a proud Southerner, living in the NW Corner of the state of Mississippi.
As a Christian American, I attend church on Sunday mornings with my brothers and sisters in Christ, both black and white.
American Progressives, both Democrat and Republican, are still continuing to try to take advantage of the horrible church massacre in Charleston, SC, in order to accomplish something that they have been trying to do for years: minimize the South’s political clout and erase our uniqueness as a region, through the taking away of a symbol of our heritage, and, any traces of the historical aspects of the Confederate Side of the Civil War, as exemplified by the mission begun under Former Memphis Mayor AC Wharton and his minions on the City Council, to dig up Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife, and move their bodies and a statue of the general, which all currently “reside” in a downtown park in the Medical Center.
The Alinsky-approved Tactics, currently being employed by the George Soros-funded minions known as Antifa and the rest of the New Bolsheviks are giving them, at best, a temporary victory, as shown by the results of a CNN poll, which I have quoted recently, that shows that the opinion of Americans concerning the Confederate Flag remains unchanged in the last 15 two decades.
The poll shows that 57% of Americans see the flag more as a symbol of Southern pride than as a symbol of racism, about the same as in 2000 when 59% said they viewed it as a symbol of pride.
Why are Liberals showing such disrespect for this integral part of American History?
Modern American Liberals have no respect for any of our nation’s symbols of our heritage. However, they seem to be intentionally concentrating on those which involve the South.
Why is that?
In every single presidential election, since I first voted for Future President Ronald Reagan in November of 1980, the voters of the South have proven to be the linchpin upon which all presidential candidates’ victory depended upon.
If you were able, as a Democrat or a Republican, to get the voters of the South to cast their ballots for you, you became the President of the United States of America.
The South, to this day, remains essential to winning the White House…as was proven on November 8, 2016.
The Liberals in the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, alike, or the Vichy Republicans, as I call them, are all too aware of this political fact.
However, those who believe that the South, in the Year of Our Lord 2017, is still backwards, or somehow inferior to their point of view, or political ideology, jump at every opportunity to negate a period of our history in which American blood on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line was shed in combat.
For example…
Why did Professional Politicians, Democrat and Republican, shift the focus of the nation away from the mental illness of the sociopath who gunned down 9 innocent Christians at a Wednesday Night Church Service in Charleston, South Carolina, shifting our country’s attention, instead, at the time, to the perceived offensive nature of the Battle Flag of the Army of Virginia?
Why are they, along with the Propaganda Arm of the Democratic Party, the Main Stream Media, shifting the focus to “the Racism of Southern Whites”, instead of the barbaric violent behavior of these Astroturf Antifa and BLM crowds and the group behind them, Refuse Fascism?
And, why isn’t their sponsor, George Soros. being deported?
Simple: Political Expediency.
By marginalizing the South through this effort, American Liberals, from the Halls of Power in Washington, DC on down the line, are hoping to diminish and possibly negate the leverage that Southern States have in molding the Political Landscape of America.
Even after 8 years under a Far Left President, America proved on November 8, 2016, that we are still a Center-Right Nation, in which Christians comprise 75$ of the population.
Through their efforts to make an inanimate object responsible for the death of the Pastor and 8 members of Emanuel AME Church, and every evil racist act imaginable, these politicians and their minions in Antifa and the BLM are hoping to swing the Political Pendulum toward their side of the Political Aisle, handicapping President Trump and the implementation of his Presidential Agenda.
They think that, if somehow, they can place the Southern States in a “bad light” and at a Political Disadvantage, that perhaps our voice in the political affairs of this nation, would not carry as much weight.
Plus, between you and me and the water cooler, Liberals in the Northern and Western States remain ticked off that both American and International Businesses are still relocating to the South, where the climate is friendlier, the Unions have not made the cost of doing business unprofitable, and, where Old-Fashioned American Work Ethic still exists.
Just sayin’.
But, I digress…
Cultural genocide or cultural cleansing is a concept that lawyer Raphael Lemkin distinguished in 1944 as a component to genocide. The term was considered in the 2007 United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples juxtaposed next to the term “ethnocide,” but it was removed in the final document, replaced with simply “genocide.”
For the last few years, ISIS has been practicing Cultural Genocide, destroying ancient artifacts, museums, and mosques while cutting a wide swath powered by fear and intimidation, across the Middle East.
The New Bolsheviks or so-called “Social Justice Warriors” of Antifa and Black Lives Matters are America’s own Cultural Jihadists. Instead of desecrating antiquities while attempting to take over the Middle East in the name of “Allah”, as ISIS is, America’s Cultural Jihadists are committing Cultural Genocide in the name of Socialism, Liberal Intolerance, and Political Expediency.
And, it is an unacceptable dirty rotten shame.
Until He Comes,
