Double Standard: L.A. Dept of Health Says Maskless Emmy Awards Did Not Violate Coronavirus Safety Protocols

Despite online backlash and a bit from presenter Seth Rogen, the 2021 Emmy Awards did not violate coronavirus safety protocols, the Los Angeles Department of Health says.

The Sunday night broadcast caught flack online as the packed ceremony seemed to toss safety precautions to the wind. Very few – if any – masks were worn and social distancing was not in place between groups of people.

When he presented an award early in the night, Rogen compared the event to being in a “hermetically sealed tin.” Host Cedric the Entertainer later explained, however, that all attendees were vaccinated.

In a statement to Fox News, the Department of Health explained that because of the nature of the event, the crowded venue was not in violation of any suggested safety guidelines.

Despite mask mandates being in place in Los Angeles County – for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people – “exceptions are made for film, television, and music productions, as additional safety modifications are made for these controlled interactions,” the department said.

“The Emmy Award Show is a television production, and persons appearing on the show are considered performers,” read the statement. “All persons appearing on or in the audience of the Emmy Award Show were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”

Additionally, the department was told that all attendees tested negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours of the event. Similarly, production crews were required to be vaccinated or test negative for the virus twice per week.

“The Emmys reached out to Public Health in advance to share their safety protocols, which exceeded the baseline requirements for television and film productions,” the organization continued. “Careful planning before large events is essential to assure that all health and safety requirements are adequately addressed.”

Additionally, a satellite venue in England hosted some international stars, including those involved with Netflix’s “The Crown.” Olivia Colman and Gillian Anderson both accepted their acting awards from the venue.

“Full vaccination of all attendees is one of the most powerful ways to achieve a safe environment. Testing of event participants and crew and optimizing ventilation are additional powerful tools,” the Department of Health said. “Public Health will continue review the protocols of future large television production events and prescribe additional safety modifications to mitigate risk of COVID-19 transmission.”

The Television Academy did not respond to Fox News’ previous request for comment on the matter.

Actually, this is not at all shocking.

The Democrat Elite, including the Hollyweird Chapter, have believed themselves to be the next coming of the French Aristocracy for some time now.

I mean, look at the clucking hens on Daytime Time Shows like “The View” and “The Talk” telling “common” Americans how they should do everything that the Democrats in the Federal Government tell us to do.

And yet, even some of them are beginning to wake up…those whom the Far Left Fascists haven’t scared witless, yet.

Hollyweird Democrats like those at the Emmy Awards do not believe that they are hypocrites at all, while they lecture the rest of us to wear masks 24/7and lock ourselves inside our homes, even as they entertain hundreds of their contemporaries in  the Red Carpet Even known as the Emmy Awards.

Just like the Communists ruling the Soviet Union lived “high on the hog” while the Proletariat (Working Class) struggled, so do today’s Far Left Democrats enjoy their life of luxury while attempting to instill fear in the hearts of average Americans in order to maintain control over a populace who is beginning to wake up to their plan to radically change America into a Democratic Socialist (Communist) country.

The door-to-door “Vaccine Brown Shirts” and the threats of Mandates and lockdowns are, again, a means to control average Americans.

By the way, is it just me…or have you noticed that the “Delta Variant Surge” has been cranking up just in time to interfere with the Midterm Elections?

My wife and I both got COVID-19 earlier this year and were severely sick for a month.

On the advice of our doctors, two well-respected men in the field of Internal Medicine, we took the vaccine.

But…IT WAS OUR DECISION.

Not the Biden Administration’s or any of the Dancing Monkeys’ in Hollyweird.

The Democrats’ attempt to turn this nation into a Marxist Aristocracy is going to fall flat on its face.

The War Against Christianity: The Academy Awards

acadeny awardsHollywood, affectionately known by average Americans nowadays, as “Hollyweird”, has grown increasingly out of touch with those of us living in America’s Heartland, or “Flyover Country”, due to their excessive pandering to those who worship at the altar of a Liberal Political Ideology, and a Godless, decadent Society in general.

 

Gerald Molen, an Oscar-winning producer of Schindler’s List, has accused the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of discriminating against a Christian movie by revoking its nomination in the best song category, in the upcoming Academy Awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter,

 

In a feisty letter to Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, a copy of which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Molen attacks the group’s Jan. 29 decision to rescind the nomination for Alone Yet Not Alone, an overtly faith-based film, over allegations that its songwriter Bruce Broughton, a former Academy governor, improperly lobbied members of the song branch. If Broughton and co-writer Dennis Spiegel are ineligible for an Oscar merely for asking people to give their tune a listen, he argues, more Oscar winners should be required to return their statues because they all promoted their work to some degree or another.

 

“Every film, director, writer, cinematographer, actor, art director, costume designer and efx house finds a way to pitch or promote their work. Many will see this decision as faith-based bigotry pure and simple,” Molen says in the letter to Boone Isaacs.

 

…In the movie, the song is sung not by a professionally trained singer, but by Joni Eareckson Tada, a 64-year-old woman who has been without the use of her arms and legs for 47 years and runs a charity that provides wheelchairs to needy children. She also authors Christian books and broadcasts Christian radio.

 

“Critics will pounce and accuse us of being out of touch and needlessly offending middle America by stripping this song — a song sung by a quadriplegic hero to evangelical Christians who has captured the imagination of the American people — of its nomination,” Molen writes. “In my humble opinion, it seems to me that this has turned a Cinderella story that America loves into a story of the wicked stepmother who wants to keep her daughter from the ball, with we the Academy cast as the villain.”

 

After its nomination, several songwriters affiliated with other films expressed dissatisfaction with the selection, and a PR firm representing a song not nominated hired a private investigator to research whether Alone Yet Not Alone should be disqualified for not meeting advertising requirements, but the Academy wasn’t convinced on those grounds.

Cheryl Boone Issacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, clarified Saturday why the academy revoked the original song Oscar nomination of composer Bruce Broughton earlier this week.

“It’s not about a punishment,” Isaacs told The Times, “but protecting the integrity of our voting process.” Broughton became the first person to have his Oscar nomination revoked on ethical grounds after he emailed about 70 members of the academy’s 240-member music branch, calling attention to “Alone Yet Not Alone,” a song that was co-written by lyricist Dennis Spiegel and sung in the movie of the same name by Agoura Hills pastor Joni Eareckson Tada.

“I’m dropping you a line to boldly direct your attention to entry #57,” Broughton wrote in his email, alluding to the track’s number on a DVD of contending music. “I’m sending this note only because it is extremely unlikely that this small, independent, faith-based film will be seen by any music branch member; it’s the only way I can think of to have anyone be aware of the song.”

Isaacs told The Times that the “key point” in the academy’s nullification of Broughton’s nomination was its violation of Rule 5.3, requiring that the credits of composer and lyricist be removed from the DVD of eligible songs sent to members of the music branch.

“The idea,” Isaacs says, “is that people are voting solely for the song and not who wrote it.” By emailing branch members, Broughton, a former academy governor and current member of the music branch’s executive committee, violated that anonymity.

“He exerted undue influence,” Isaacs says, “using information that only an academy insider would have.”

Isaacs said the decision to revoke Broughton’s nomination came Tuesday at a scheduled board meeting. She would not reveal whether any lesser forms of punishment for Broughton were discussed, citing the confidentiality of academy board meetings. She did note that she had heard from a number of academy members after “Alone Yet Not Alone” was nominated for the original song Oscar on Jan. 16.

Over the last few several decades, Hollywood has vied for the title of “Sin City” with “Lost Wages (Las Vegas” through its glorification of the decadent and demonic. The family-friendly, morally-based classic horror films such as “Dracula”, “Frankenstein”, and “The Wolf Man”, have long since been replaced by Jason, Freddy”, Twilight”, and “Insidious”.  War Epics which paid tribute to our Fighting men and Women, such as “The Green Berets” and “We Were Soldiers” have been replaced by Anti-American Propaganda Pieces such as “Redacted”. And, Love stories like “The Notebook” ae being pushed aside for celebrations of carnality, like “Nymphomaniac”.

What is interesting to note, though, is the backlash to the attempted shaping of our American Culture and Society by Hollyweird. Please note the overwhelming popularity of Super Hero Movies, in which Good triumphs over Evil. You see, Americans, even though, like all mankind, are sinful in nature, that still, small voice in us still glows with that knowledge of Right and Wrong.

Hollyweird, in their licentious little hearts, has noticed this trend. Later this year, they will premiere a Biblical Epic about Noah and the Flood, starring Russell Crowe of “Master and Commander” and “Gladiator” in the title role. If it scores big at the Box Office”, you can be sure that there will be more to come, not for the purpose of glorifying God, but, to fill their pocketbooks.

However inadvertently, if the script for “Noah” is Biblically-based such as Cecil B. Demille’s classic “The Ten Commandments”, it should not only do well at the Box Office, but may even turn out to be evangelistic.

Could it be that The Creator is using this backlash against the Romanesque decay and decadence of the Left’s Hollywood Idoltary and corrupt culture to bring glory to Himself?

Mmmm…could be.

The Summer of Hollywood’s Hiroshima

lone ranger and tontoTo say that Hollywood is having a bad summer would be an understatement. The Liberal Intelligentsia, in all of their pompous glory, incorrectly assumed that Americans would pay our hard-earned money to go see anything they put out on a movie screen, schlock or not.

Once again, the “smartest people in the room” turned out to be the dumbest.

The costliest failure so far has been The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp, which cost $250 million (£165 million) to make, and had a huge marketing budget. It was savaged by critics as a “bloated, unfunny, sometimes downright bizarre train wreck” amid a “summer of garbage blockbusters.”

Disney may have to write off up to $150 million losses on the movie, which was largely ignored by cinemagoers despite being released over the July 4 holiday weekend. It took in just $29 million that weekend in North America, losing out heavily to the animated comedy Despicable Me 2.

White House Down, starring Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum, took just $25 million on the June 28 weekend, while Pacific Rim, a story of alien monsters, while praised by many critics, still brought in only $38 million over the July 11 weekend. More people went to see the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2.

R.I.P.D, a $130 million science fiction film about police officers fighting villains in the afterlife, is predicted to take in only around $20 million this weekend.

To be considered successful, blockbusters aim to take in about half their budget over the first weekend.

The movie is being released at the same time as Red 2, a tale of retired hitmen starring Bruce Willis and Dame Helen Mirren, which is expected to split the audience.

The series of big budget disappointments has come just a month after Steven Spielberg warned that Hollywood was facing a “meltdown” because of its over-reliance on blockbusters.

Speaking at the University of Southern California in June, Spielberg predicted “an implosion where three or four, or maybe even a half dozen, mega-budget movies are going to go crashing into the ground.”

Analysts said the failures were partly a result of competing studios trying to release too many big movies at the same time. There are more than 20 films with a budget of more than $100 million being released this summer, six more than last year.

The studios have ploughed resources in to so-called “tent pole” films, which are accompanied by costly marketing, and are expected to make large profits. But, to do so, they all need to arrive in cinemas over the summer months.

Until late June, Hollywood had been on course for a record summer, following the success of early hits including Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness. and Fast & Furious 6.

However, as fatigue set in with audiences the movie industry entered what has been labelled the “dud zone,” in which big releases have fared less impressively than lower budget productions. A slew of expensive films remain to be released in late July and August.

One exasperated studio head told The Hollywood Reporter: “You had too many $100 million-plus movies, not to mention $200 million-plus movies, jammed on top of each other. There isn’t enough play time, and the result has been more movies that wipe out.”

I believe that there are other reasons for the horrible summer movie receipts.

First, Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Why should we blow $50 dollars at the movies, when we can stay at home, and watch our cable or satellite television programs, or watch a movie on DVD or Blu Ray? There are other downsides, to going out to watch a movie besides the outrageous cost: The idiots you have to sit next to.

When my bride and I went to see Iron man 3, earlier this summer, I was seated next to a woman who played and talked on her cellphone, sighed loudly, and talked to her friends during the movie, all in an effort to make us move somewhere else in the crowded theater. My crime? Do the words “creepy a@@ cracka” ring a bell?

The other problem that these summer movies have, is simple: They aren’t worth seeing.

Hollywood has been losing their collective mind for a while now. While our soldiers were fighting and dying in Iraq, they were releasing films that criticized our brave military and our country. Those movies bombed spectacularly as a result.

Earlier this summer, There was a movie about Liberace and his young protegé/confidant/lover Scotty Thorson, featuring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, in those roles. The studio released it to Europe first, where the heathens over there, gave it rave reviews.  It was never released to American theaters, because American capitalists refused to distribute it. They knew that Americans would not pay their hard-earned money to watch a movie denigrating an American Icon, like the legendary, beloved showman, Lee Liberace.

One of the movies expected to be a blockbuster this summer, “The Lone Ranger, cast Johnny Depp as Tonto, and rewrote the legend to center around him, instead of the title character.

The audience simply did not buy Captain Jack Sparrow as Tonto.

When we envision the crime fighting duo of the old west, Americans see Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. Two outstanding gentlemen, both on and off the television screen.

The last point I want to make, is the total disconnect of “Hollyweird” from the average American’s belief system of ethics, values, and faith. All the great movies and television shows my generation watched growing up, reinforced those values.

We knew that the Ranger and Tonto would beat the snot out of the bad guys, and rescue the rancher’s daughter. We knew that James Bond would defeat SPECTRE and get the beautiful Bond Girl.

We smiled when we heard that Superman fought for “truth, justice, and the American Way”. We threw our rubber tomahawks at the trees in our front yards, just like “Daniel Boone”. We knew that John Wayne would rescue Dean Martin in “Rio Bravo”.

And, all the guys wanted a red Gran Torino with a white stripe down the side, like “Starsky and Hutch” drove.

You want to know why the Sherlock Holmes movies, the Iron Man movies, and the Star Trek movies have all done so well? It’s simple.

They are throwbacks. They are entertaining. They are not dirty or vulgar. There is plenty of action with a great story line wrapped around it, and GOOD TRIUMPHS OVER EVIL.

Americans have to deal with enough ugliness trying to survive under the harsh reality of America under Obama. 

We go to movies to be entertained, not to be lectured to by a bunch of snotty-nosed, America-hating, relative morality and situational ethics-loving Liberals. 

Average Americans are more perceptive than Liberals think we are.

This summer’s movie failures have proved it.

Conservative Movie Box Office Bonanza…Liberals Mystified

A Conservative scholar’s documentary about President Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm) has turned out to be the most watched documentary of the year, bringing in over $20,000,000, so far.

While pundits and critics are divided over whether “2016: Obama’s America” is a sobering documentary examining “the most mysterious U.S. president in modern history” or an 87-minute attack ad, there’s no debating that the film is a box office phenomenon.

Taking a page from his own book “The Roots of Obama’s Rage,” conservative scholar Diniseh D’Souza’s film has shocked industry prognosticators by earning an estimated $20 million to date, more than five times what the second-highest documentary this year, “Bully,” earned. With virtually no promotional budget, the film has expanded in a little over a month from one theater in Houston to 1747 screens this weekend.

“People see the success and they think we have the marketing budget of ‘Dark Knight Rises,’ we probably don’t even have the catering budget of the ‘Dark Knight,'” co-director John Sullivan, who helped craft the promotional plan, told the News.

So they had to rely on the choir preaching to an even bigger choir. Sullivan says ahead of the film’s mid-July opening at the Edward Houston Marq’E Stadium 23 & IMAX, local right-wing radio host Michael Berry championed the film with an all-out publicity blitz on his show.

Roughly 200 movie-goers were turned away from the sold out shows that weekend, a theater manager told the Hollywood Reporter.

From there, the film opened in three additional Houston-area theaters, then a handful of other cities in the reddest of states. It helped that by the time it jumped onto 1,071 screens last weekend, it didn’t have to go toe-to-toe with Batman or Iron Man.

“This is a case of good timing,” says Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com. “If it would have come out even two weeks earlier, it would have been swamped by the big blockbusters.”

Through the week of the Republican National Convention, D’Souza and producer Gerald Molen, who won an Academy Award for “Schindler’s List,” have been doing dozens of interviews. Along the way they picked up some key endorsements from the likes of Glen Beck and Rupert Murdoch.

Despite the clearly partisan image surrounding the film, Mark Joseph, whose firm MJM Entertainment is handling marketing of the film, insists the ticket-buyers aren’t all coming from one side of the great political divide.

“The producers did some testing early on that yielded some surprising and counterintuitive results: it played very well among non-whites and independents,” said Joseph by email. “There was speculation that that could be because Dinesh is himself a native of India and the high marks from independents were because he rejects birtherism and gives no quarter to the suggestion that the President isn’t a Christian.”

“The Passion of The Christ audience was roughly half very devout and half not so devout,” says Joseph. “The latter wanted to see what the fuss was about.”

But it’s clear this film taps into Republican dissatisfaction with President Obama – not unlike the rage Democrats felt in 2004 that Michael Moore tapped with “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

It’s also clear that Hollyweird is having a bad year, per hollywoodreporter.com:

The number of people going to the movies dipped noticeably in North America this summer, putting increased pressure on the final four months of 2012 to bolster the bottom line.

According to preliminary estimates, 533.5 million tickets were sold this summer, down 4 percent from last year and the worst turnout since 1993. The lowest attendance before now came in summer 2010, when there were 534.4 tickets sold.

Total summer revenues also slipped. Initial estimates show the domestic box office generating $4.278 in billion in sales, down roughly 3 percent from last summer’s record $4.4 billion.

Final revenue and attendance figures will be released this week.

“You can’t just count on blockbuster superheroes and action movies alone,” said Hollywood.com’s Dergarabedian. Studios also need comedies and adult dramas to post record summer results, he said.

Hollywood often says box office swings are based simply on the appeal of films. This summer, moviegoers may have become more discerning when deciding where to spend their entertainment dollars, executives said.

“I don’t think you can fool audiences,” Universal’s Rocco said. “They are savvy, and expectations are high.”

Americans have grown exceptionally weary concerning all the anti-American, anti-God, pro-Liberal sentiments that are so prevalent in today’s box office offerings.

Additionally, thank’s to this president’s failed economic policies, average Americans can afford to go out to see mediocre movies.

Americans are looking for uplifting entertainment, and Hollywood has been giving us Horror movies, instead.

The reason that Superhero movies have been doing so well is simple: Americans always prefer to see good triumph over evil. Just as they prefer to our nation portrayed in a good light. That’s why those anti-American movies , such as “redacted” , of a couple of years ago did so poorly.

The money men behind Hollywood had better pay attention to the tremendous response that Clint Eastwood has received for his improvisation at the Republican National Convention.

They need to make movies for the majority of Americans, not the Liberal minority.

Like Obama, Hollyweird is Out-of-Touch

On the heels of President Barack Hussein Obama’s un-constitutional Presidential Decree of last Friday, Hollyweird is proving themselves to be just as out-of-touch with average Americans as their messiah.

Deadline.com reports on a couple of “surefire hits” that are examples of a movie industry who is wrapped up in its own little world:

After the tsunami that was Marvel’s The Avengers, five major studio movies disappointed. Then DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3 and Fox’s Prometheus performed better than expected and are still easily holding #1 and #2 their second weekends with $33.5M and $20.5M respectively. (Even though the Ridley Scott scifi thriller dropped a whopping -73% from last Friday to today because of all those gaping plot holes.)

Contrast that with Friday’s newcomers which each should have earned over $20M this weekend because of their star power. But New Line/Warner Bros’ Rock Of Ages (3,470 theaters) fell to earth with a thud. Which Hollywood expected because the pic had been tracking poorly for weeks (and even went down at one point week to week). The studio felt the 1980s period piece was a hard sell to younger moviegoers. I suspect the problem was casting. Russell Brand has been repellant to moviegoers, while Tom Cruise as iconic rocker proved just too incredulous for audiences. The PG-13 musical is looking to open to only $15.5M this weekend after taking in just $5.3M Friday. Given that the pic was based on the Broadway warbler, it did far worse than Mamma Mia which with the same pedigree opened to $27M. Warner Bros was holding out hope for this $75M-budget pic, thinking that a good CinemaScore could generate great word of mouth and therefore great legs for the film. It didn’t materialize: audiences only gave Rock Of Ages a mediocre ‘B’. There’s just no way to save this s(t)inker with hack director Adam Shankman at the helm: weekend gross may fall below $15M.

Columbia/Sony’s That’s My Boy (3,030 theaters) starring Adam Sandler also was bottoming. It will hurt further that audiences only gave it a ‘B-’ CinemaScore. (“But ‘B’s with everybody under 50,” a Sony exec emails me.) Hollywood didn’t expect Sandler to attract his usual family friendly audience with an ‘R’ rating. But an actor who reliably takes in $30M to $40M every opening weekend and then dropping to $14M after grossing only $4.5M today can’t go unchastized. Especially if he hurt his brand with his most recent pic, that execrable flop Jack & Jill. (How much you wanna bet Andy Samberg is rethinking that SNL exit now?) Weekend gross may fall below $12.5M.

Let’s dissect these brilliant pieces of cinematic skill, shall we?

First, according to fandango.com, Rock of Ages goes this way:

A small-town girl and a big-city boy find their fates intersecting on the Sunset Strip, riding a wave of romance through the height of the “hair metal” scene as the off-Broadway musical rocks its way to the big screen courtesy of choreographer-turned-director Adam Shankman (A Walk to Remember, Hairspray). Arriving in Hollywood with stars in her eyes, Sherrie (Julianne Hough) meets Drew (Diego Boneta), and together they plunge headlong into the local rock scene. Meanwhile, as Sherrie struggles to stay afloat in a churning sea of rock ‘n’ roll excess, she gets swept off her feet by audacious rock star Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise). Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, and Bryan Cranston co-star in a movie featuring music by Journey, Def Leppard, Poison, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Joan Jett, and REO Speedwagon. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

And, “That’s My Boy” wastes 2 hours in the following manner, per fandango.com:

While still a teen himself, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son,Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent. On Todd’s 18th birthday, Donny cut the youth loose. After years of estrangement,the older man shows up unexpectedly on the eve of his son’s wedding day, sending the young man’s life into a tailspin. Donny wants desperately to reconnect with Todd, but he must now deal with the repercussions of the bad parenting he exhibited in the past. Cast: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, Vanilla Ice, James Caan

Evidently, this movie is leaving everyone as cold as Ice, Ice, Baby.

The producers expected average Americans to find a story about a guy who slept with his teacher and got her pregnant, funny?

Epic failure.

As I sit here, on Father’s Day morning, thanking God for all the children I’ve helped to raise, my grandson, and my wonderful bride, I wonder how many other Americans Fathers here in the Heartland are doing the exact same thing?  

Answer: a lot.

Because, whatever the East and the West Coast, and all of the Main Stream Media tries to tell you, average Americans, there are a whole lot more of us than there are of them.

Believe it.

Just how out-of-touch are Hollywood Liberals?
