Journalists are simply leftists disguised as reporters. They’re political activists disguised as reporters. – Rush Limbaugh
TheHill.com reports that
Senior White House policy adviser Stephen Miller battled with reporters Wednesday over a Trump-backed plan to dramatically slash legal immigration to the U.S.
During a combative briefing at the White House, Miller accused a CNN reporter of showing “cosmopolitan bias” for questioning whether the policy upholds American values and cast doubt on the Statue of Liberty’s historical significance as a beacon for immigrants.
That all came after Miller got into a heated exchange with a New York Times reporter over whether there is statistical evidence to back up the administration’s claim that cutting the number of green cards would help American workers.
The 30-minute brouhaha marked a return to the spotlight for Miller, who has kept a low profile since the rocky rollout of the president’s travel ban earlier this year.
It also came days after retired Marine Corps Gen. John Kelly took over as Trump’s chief of staff with a mandate to restore order and calm to a West Wing that has often appeared out of control.
But Wednesday’s briefing was anything but orderly, with reporters and Miller engaging in lengthy arguments that at times became personal.
The tensions reached an a boiling point when CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta – a frequent target of the Trump administration’s ire – asked Miller if the bill, which would prioritize merit-based immigration over family reunification, went against the Emma Lazarus poem engraved on the base of the Statue of Liberty, which says “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
“The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of liberty lighting the world,” Miller responded. “The poem you are referring to, which was added later, is not part of the original Statue of Liberty.”
Acosta shot back that Miller was peddling “some sort of National Park revisionism.”
When Acosta asked if the bill’s preference for English speakers was designed so that the U.S. would only take in people from Great Britain and Australia, Miller exploded.
“I can honestly say: I am shocked at your statement that you think only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English,” Miller said, speaking over Acosta, who tried to interject several times. “It reveals your cosmopolitan bias to a shocking degree – this is an amazing moment.”
Acosta responded by accusing the Trump White House of trying to “engineer the racial and ethnic flow of people into this country,” a claim Miller called, “one of the most outrageous, insulting, ignorant and foolish things you’ve ever said.”
The stunning is exchange drew laughter and scoffs from several reporters inside the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. Even White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who stood at Miller’s side, cracked a smile.
“That was exciting,” she quipped after Miller left the podium.
The CNN reporter, whose father came to the U.S. from Cuba, took issue with Miller’s claim that he was “ignorant,” prompting him to apologize “if things got heated.”
Miller appeared to relish the fight during an earlier back-and-forth with Glenn Thrush of The New York Times, who challenged him to produce data to show a direct link between low-skill immigration and job loss for U.S. workers.
Miller named several studies that he said backed up the administration’s claims, adding that such claims are also supported by “common sense.”
“I’m not asking for common sense,” Thrush responded. “I’m asking for specific statistical data.”
“I think it’s pretty clear, Glenn, that you’re not asking for common sense,” Miller retorted.
After Thrush responded that, “common sense is fungible, statistics are not,” Miller suggested the administration would “create a carve-out in the bill that says The New York Times can hire all the less-skilled, low-paid workers from other countries.”
“See how you feel about it then,” he added.
The verbal jousting didn’t necessarily come as a surprise to many of the Washington journalists who often engaged in similar exchanges with Miller when he was a top aide to then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), one of the upper chamber’s leading immigration hawks.
The difference is that Miller is now one of the president’s most influential advisers on immigration and the sparring played out live on national television, instead of over the telephone.
But Miller has seldom spoken publicly since February, when he made comments during a string of cable news appearances that may have undercut the administration’s legal case for the travel ban he helped draft.
Miller said on Fox News that the revised travel ban, which was then in the works, would “have the same basic policy outcome for the country” as the first ban that was blocked by federal courts and that the changes would be “mostly minor technical differences.”
The adviser later had to clean up his statement, saying the revisions, though minor, would help the policy pass legal muster.
Trump typically relishes when his aides clash with the media; he enjoyed outgoing White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s early briefings for the ratings they drew.
This last paragraph in the article above unconsciously drops the masque of objectivity from the American News Media, both Main Stream and “New”.
America’s Main Stream Media realized shortly after the American People elected Donald J. Trump as our 45th President that in order to have access to President Trump and to be able to file news reports covering the actions that he is going to take as President, they are going to have to accurately report what actually happens.
So, they decided instead, to write fictional stories and attempt to give them believability and gravitas by claiming to have received the information for their stories from “anonymous sources”.
At the rate that these stories are being debunked, most Americans have accurately surmised that the MSM’s “anonymous sources” are the voices inside their own over-sized heads.
The Main Stream Media has gotten so desperate to bring down the juggernaut that is President-elect Donald J. Trump that that they have adopted the strategy of publishing unsubstantiated lie after unsubstantiated lie in order to assuage their own hurt feelings after their failure to aid lousy Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton in her quest to become the 45th President of the United States of America.
The depth of their grief and the blind rage of their ensuing temper tantrum has, without a doubt, wiped out any vestiges of journalistic integrity that remained after decades of being the Propaganda Arm of the Democratic Party.
President-elect Trump will never be able to please the Main Stream Media.
Nor should he have to.
The Presidency of the United States of America is the most important leadership position on the Face of God’s Green Earth.
The Main Stream Media knows that.
The problem is the Main Stream Media is still having a conniption fit (Southern colloquialism for being upset over something to the point insanity) over the election of Donald J. Trump as the next President by us rubes here in Flyover Country.
The Main Stream Media not only has lost their meal ticket with the defeat of the Queen of Mean, Hillary Clinton, but they also have to face the reality of being “punked” for at least four years by Donald J. Trump, who treats them like a school of Largemouth Bass, baiting the hook with the promise of a big announcement or story, causing them to pack the room wherever Trump is speaking, only to find out that they have been used to gain free publicity for Mr. Trump and whatever cause he is trying to forward that day.
Or, refusing to play nice with them when they slander him.
Trump has made the Media look tremendously naïve and stupid on several occasions, in scenes reminiscent of Lucy Van Pelt promising to hold the football for Charlie Brown to kick, only to pull it away at the last minute leaving a helpless Charlie Brown to wipe out, tumbling head over heels.
The Main Stream Media are no longer in control of the dissemination of the news…and they know it.
Between Trump’s playing them like Charlie Daniels playing a fiddle and average Americans becoming their own reporters through the use of Social Media, “professional journalists” have watched their influence over the daily lives of Americans dwindle and diminish right before their very eyes.
And, unfortunately, the lies will just keep on coming.
Like the attention-seeking spoiled brats that they are, the Main Stream Media believe that they can get away with anything.
That is why grandstanding idiots like Acosta feel ’empowered” to show the entire world his backside and to be everything but professional during the White House Press Briefings.
Acosta and grandstanding grieving Democratic Propagandists like him are why President Trump decided not to televise all of the White House Press Briefings to begin with.
Americans want their news to be just that: Information about the events going on around them, delivered by unbiased professional reporters.
If they want to see two guys yell nonsensically at each other, they will tune into “Monday Night Raw” or Tuesday Night’s “Smackdown Live”.
Americans are now living in a time when the Main Stream Media’s blatant propaganda is no longer believed at face value, as the evidence which refutes it is appearing in the live videos and photographs being shared on Facebook and other Social Media.
Average Americans are winning the war against the “New Fascism” of the Tyranny of the Minority by the sharing of information through Social Media.
Popinjays like Acosta need to wake up and smell what they’re shoveling before their version of “Broadcast Journalism” goes the way of the dinosaurs.
Until He Comes,
