The late, great Charlie Daniels was known for a song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
I was going to say that I wonder what he would think of this. However, I know what that great Christian man would think of this.
Pop singer Sam Smith has been invited to appear at the Grand Ole Opry on October 21st.
What’s the big deal, you ask. Pop stars have sung at the Opry in the past. Why is this any different?
Well, boys and girls, special isn’t the word for this. Disrespectful, is.
To quote Mr Peabody, “Let’s go to the Wayback machine, Sherman.”
Per NYPost.com 2/11/2023…
“Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ controversial Grammys performance was slapped with a myriad of FCC complaints, according to a report.
After Smith and Petras raised eyebrows with their creative choices, TMZ reported outraged viewers filed complaints against CBS and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The outlet obtained 18 complaints filed with the FCC, with most of them slamming the performance for its “glorification” of Satan.
During the performance, Smith, 30, was clad in red leather and donned a hat with horns protruding from it — evoking comparisons to the devil.
The nonbinary singer, who uses they/them pronouns, rocked red high-heeled boots and leather pants, and a crimson shirt with a matching collar. Later, they wore a top hat with horns and completed the look with a cane.
Meanwhile, 30-year-old Petras donned a little red dress and satanic headgear while performing in a cage surrounded by whip-wielding backup dancers.
The stage design complemented the motif as huge flames were shot into the air during the segment.”
By the way, Snith’s duet partner was a transgender from Germany who “transitioned” at the age of 13. (“He’s a MAN, baby!”)
Smith is an atheist who has spoken out against “religion” in the past.
Of course, all those who believe themselves to be the smartest person in any room that they walk into, thought their performance was just exquisite.
The fact of the matter is that even the Church of Satan was not particularly impressed, per sources.
I didn’t realize how far Left the Opry had gone until I saw Jelly Roll at the “Celebration of Life” for Dolly Parton after he destroyed his career on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
I understand that, as Miss Dolly herself said, “the Opry is for everybody”.
The majority of members, past and present, of the Grand Ole Opry have been Christian Americans.
American culture and society itself took a nosedive during the Obama and Biden administrations. It’s not my opinion. It’s a fact.
I choose to believe that an invitation should not have been given to a creep who openly worshiped Satan along with a transvestite is scantily clad female “worshipers” at the 2023 Grammy awards.
If the Opry thinks that Sam Smith lives up to their tradition of country and other music and entertainment for everybody, then their vision for the Opry does nothing to honor those performers who have gotten them to this point.
Meanwhile, in a cemetery in Mt Juliet, TN, Charlie Daniels is spinning like a pinwheel in his grave.
Until He Comes,
