Al Jazeera America Downsizing. Let Freedom Ring!

aljazeeraAmericaWhat happens when a Cable “News Network” is launched by our country’s enemies, for the purpose of propaganda, and nobody watches it?

The Hollywood Reporter has the story…

Al Jazeera America, which launched last August with nearly 850 employees and 12 news bureaus in the United States, has laid off dozens of employees as part of restructuring. The channel is disbanding its sports unit and scaling back its social-media-driven show The Stream from a daily show to a once-a-week program.

“The majority of people affected were freelancers and many of the staff either came from the sports group or from The Stream,” Dawn Bridges, executive vp corporate communications, tells The Hollywood Reporter.

In a note to employees on Friday, the cable news channel’s president, Kate O’Brian, stated that staff reductions were part of a process of restructuring after initial hires were made for the launch.

“In the seven months since launch we have built a channel that it took other networks years to do,” O’Brian wrote. “As you all know, that required extensive effort, planning and resources. We always understood that we would need considerable resources to meet our goals.”

“This will have an immediate impact on some staff, freelancers, independent contractors, and other project-oriented individuals who have been with us for several months,” O’Brian noted.

…While there was no dedicated sports program, sports content was circulated through daily news shows. A sports show was in development at one point, but plans for a dedicated show have been scrapped.

The cable news channel, backed by the royal family of Qatar, replaced Current TV on the channel guide when it launched on Aug. 20 of last year. A significant investment, up to $600 million, was made in Al Jazeera America, sources told THR at the time.

In the months leading up to the channel’s launch, AJA boasted numerous high-profile journalist hires — including Soledad O’Brien, Ali Velshi, John Seigenthaler, Joie Chen and Antonio Mora — and pledged to deliver substantive news to differentiate itself from cable news competitors. The channel recently won two Peabody Awards, for documentaries on Haiti and Bangladesh.

As of December 2013, when the channel struck a carriage agreement with Time Warner Cable, Al Jazeera America was available in almost 55 million homes in the United States.

“We have more than 800 staff around the country and I hope you are seeing that we’re continuing to build a strong distribution network. Our relationships with distributors, advertisers, and the media industry as a whole are strong,” O’Brian wrote in the Friday memo.

I remember when I first heard the name “Al Jazeera. It was following the worst ever Muslim Terrorist Attack on American Soil on September 11, 2001. Right after the carnage, the “news service” began repeatedly broadcasting a videotape that showed 9/11 terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden praising and taking credit for those attacks by members of his al Qaeda organization. Al Jazeera (AJ) would not reveal where or how it had obtained this videotape, or to provide any information that might have helped to track down the Muslim Mass Murderer Osama bin Laden. These Muslim Terrorist Sympathizers also refused to stop airing the Anti-American video, despite our government’s concerns that the footage might contain coded messages to other al Qaeda agents around the world. Over the next 10 years, AJ would become known as bin Laden’s media outlet of choice for airing his various messages to the world.. These al Qaeda operatives aired at least 10 separate, “exclusive” bin Laden videos.

The New York Times Magazine published a cover story after the horrific mass murder of 9/11 titled “What the Muslim World Is Watching,” In the article, Fouad Ajami noted:

Jazeera’s reporters see themselves as ‘anti-imperialists.’ Convinced that the rulers of the Arab world have given in to American might, these are broadcasters who play to an Arab gallery whose political bitterness they share—and feed.

In April 2003, our nation’s military leaders noticed that one particular AJ reporter who was stationed in Baghdad consistently arrived, with his camera in hand, at the site of Iraqi-perpetrated terror attacks right after they had taken place. Suspecting that Al Jazeera and al Qaeda were working together, the U.S. bombed AJ’s offices in Bagdad, just like we had previously bombed the station’s headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan in late 2001.

By the time the 2004 presidential campaign season had started, the Democratic Party was well aware of the fact that AJ’s denigration of the Bush administration’s war efforts in Aghanistan and Iraq were helping to detroy support for the Bush Administration at home and abroad. In March 2004, AJ lavished praises on the Democratic presidential nominee-apparent, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. Later in 2004, AJ was invited to cover the Democratic National Convention, and it did so with unexpectedly positive reporting.

AJ America was born on January 2, 2013, when Al Jazeera spent an estimated $500 million to purchase Al Gore’s left-wing Current TV. (Gore owned a 20% share of Current TV, leading to a payout from the deal of approximately $100 million.) The transaction increased AJ’s potential reach in the U.S. to approximately 40 million homes, a nearly ninefold increase. In a statement concerning the sale, Gore proudly said that Al Jazeera shared Current TV’s commitment “to give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling.” News reports at the time of the sale claimed that AJ was planning to gradually transform Current TV into a network called Al Jazeera America (AJA), which would be editorially separate from the Qatar-based broadcast center that also houses Al Jazeera English.

Uh huh.

At the time of the launch, the New York Times reported that the station would “start in about 48 million of the country’s roughly 100 million homes that subscribe to television.”

Okay. If this blatant proprietor of propaganda, these “nattering nabobs of negativity”, if you will, are so enlightened and successful, why are they downsizing?

Simple. Americans aren’t buying the b.s.

Back on November 18, 2013, theblaze.com reported

Al Jazeera America has been on the air for just about two months and despite being carried in roughly 44 million homes, Americans are apparently not interested in what the Qatar-owned network is offering.

At only about 13,000 viewers a day since its Aug. 20 launch, Al Jazeera America’s daily viewership is reportedly less than half what it was under Al Gore’s unsuccessful Current TV. The news network was only able to draw in about 5,000 viewers in the coveted 25-to-54-year-old demographic.

To put the awful ratings into perspective, consider that 13,000 daily viewers is about .00029 percent of the total number of households who have access to Al Jazeera America.

Just as the propaganda attempts of previous enemies of American Freedom, Nazi Germany and Japan, in World War II, failed miserably, so will this attempt by the true believers of Radical Islam to convince America that they are just a bunch of cuddly teddy bears, fail miserably, as well.

One of America’s greatest allies of all time, the legendary British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, (whose bust  in our White House, President Obama sent back to England) once wrote about Islam that,

Indeed it is evident that Christianity, however degraded and distorted by cruelty and intolerance, must always exert a modifying influence on men’s passions, and protect them from the more violent forms of fanatical fever, as we are protected from smallpox by vaccination. But the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance. It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since, its votaries have been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness.

“Intolerance.” No wonder these enemies of America have forged an alliance with America’s Liberal Democrats, headed by the Obama Administration.

They have a lot in common. They don’t care much for American Freedom, either.

The Syria Situation: Style Over Substance

ObamaSyriaOptionsWell, it’s 1…2…3 what are we fightin’ for?

Don’t tell me, I don’t give a da!@,

The next stop might be Iran.

Telegraph.co.uk reports that

Opposition forces battling Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria now number around 100,000 fighters, but after more than two years of fighting they are fragmented into as many as 1,000 bands.

The new study by IHS Jane’s, a defence consultancy, estimates there are around 10,000 jihadists – who would include foreign fighters – fighting for powerful factions linked to al-Qaeda..

Another 30,000 to 35,000 are hardline Islamists who share much of the outlook of the jihadists, but are focused purely on the Syrian war rather than a wider international struggle.

There are also at least a further 30,000 moderates belonging to groups that have an Islamic character, meaning only a small minority of the rebels are linked to secular or purely nationalist groups.

The stark assessment, to be published later this week, accords with the view of Western diplomats estimate that less than one third of the opposition forces are “palatable” to Britain, while American envoys put the figure even lower.

Fears that the rebellion against the Assad regime is being increasingly dominated by extremists has fuelled concerns in the West over supplying weaponry that will fall into hostile hands. These fears contributed to unease in the US and elsewhere over military intervention in Syria.

Charles Lister, author of the analysis, said: “The insurgency is now dominated by groups which have at least an Islamist viewpoint on the conflict. The idea that it is mostly secular groups leading the opposition is just not borne out.”

That goes against the narrative that Obama, Kerry, McCain and all of the rest of the new “Warhawks” have been issuing , about how “noble” the Syrian “Rebel Forces” are.

Another bit of rhetoric from Obama and his supporters has been their denial that, if we get involved in Syria’s Civil War, there will be no need for our servicemen to put their “boots on the ground”.

Defense Department officials were less certain Thursday on whether U.S. military personnel might be sent to help secure or destroy Syria’s chemical weapons.

Pentagon Press Secretary George Little gave a vague answer when asked if U.S. troops were prepared to assist should an international agreement allow Russia to take control of the tons of chemical weapons believed to be in the stockpiles of President Bashar al-Assad.

“I’m not going to speculate on who may or may not be participating in a process that may or may not take place,” Little said. “We’ve got to see where the process goes” before the U.S. military considers involvement, he said.

The first steps in the process were taking place in Geneva, where Secretary of State John Kerry was meeting for a second day with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Moscow’s proposal to have international teams take control of the chemical weapons.

Syria has tentatively agreed to the Russian initiative and also agreed to join the international ban on chemical and biological weapons.

Lavrov has urged the U.S. to speed the negotiations by dropping the threat to launch strikes on Syria, but Little said “the threat of military action is driving the process forward.”

To back up the threat, the U.S. was keeping four destroyers off the Syrian coast and the Nimitz carrier strike group in the Red Sea, though some of the ships may be replaced if the negotiations are drawn out, Little said.

God’s gift to American Foreign Policy, the Lightbringer himself, appeared on ABC’s “This Week”, yesterday, where he said

“Folks here in Washington like to grade on style,” he said during an interview with ABC’s “This Week.” “Had we rolled out something that was very smooth and disciplined and linear they would have graded it well, even if it was a disastrous policy. … We know that because that’s exactly how they graded the Iraq War until it ended up blowing [up] in our face.

…“I’m less concerned about style points. I’m much more concerned about getting the policy right,” he said in a wide-ranging interview in which he talked about Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon and criticized House Republicans’ approach to fiscal negotiations, including an upcoming talk on increasing the federal debt limit.

Obama said the United States’ approach to Syria should show Iran that there’s the potential for diplomatic solutions to arms standoffs.

But he says Iran shouldn’t assume that his preference for diplomacy means the U.S. won’t strike Tehran.

Obama said Iranians understand that their pursuit of a nuclear weapon is “a far larger issue for us” than the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

The president also said he has exchanged letters with Iran’s new president, but the two have not spoken directly.

Obama said he believes Iranian President Hasan Rouhani understands the potential for a diplomatic solution to his country’s disputed nuclear program but will not “suddenly make it easy.”

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

On June 4, 2009, in his “Speech to the Muslim World, titled “A New Beginning”, given at the University of Cairo, United States President Barack Hussein Obama said,

It’s easier to start wars than to end them. It’s easier to blame others than to look inward. It’s easier to see what is different about someone than to find the things we share. But we should choose the right path, not just the easy path. There’s one rule that lies at the heart of every religion — that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. (Applause.) This truth transcends nations and peoples — a belief that isn’t new; that isn’t black or white or brown; that isn’t Christian or Muslim or Jew. It’s a belief that pulsed in the cradle of civilization, and that still beats in the hearts of billions around the world. It’s a faith in other people, and it’s what brought me here today.

When Obama became President, Britain and Israel were our allies, and the Islamic Terrorists Organizations, the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda, were our sworn enemies.

Now, in 2013, Britain and Israel have been cast aside and the Muslim Terrorists have been invited to our White House, wined and dined, and supported in their efforts to take over the Middle East by our Administration.

Oh, these Terrorist Groups still want to kill each and every one of us infidels, but that doesn’t matter to Obama. He has another Nobel Peace Price to win.

The Syria Situation: Time to Put “The Maverick” Out to Pasture

McCainObamaJohn McCain, the Republican Party’s ill-advised 2008 Presidential Candidate, has become the Poster Boy for Senility.

As America stands on the precipice of Word War III, “Maverick” is prancing around like a show pony, for President Barack Hussein Obama, and an all-too-willing dhimmi for the Muslim Brotherhood and their off-shoot, al Qaeda.

Yesterday morning, Senator McCain made the suggestion that Fox and Friend’s Brian Kilmeade was Islamophobic. Kilmeade had informed McCain that Radical Islamists had shouted “Allahu Akbar” as their rockets hit government offices in Syria.

“I have a problem helping those people screaming that after a hit,” Kilmeade said. McCain responded: “Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying ‘thank God? Thank God?’” He added, “That’s what they’re saying. Come on! Of course they’re Muslims, but they’re moderates and I guarantee you they are moderates.” McCain provided no evidence to suggest that Syrian opposition groups are moderate, as opposed to the wide swath of evidence suggesting that the opposition is heavily infested with al Qaeda.

Al Qaeda…Moderates? Are you kiddin’ .me?

Per pjmedia.com…

One of the English translators of the great 14th century Muslim jurist (d. 1350) Ibn Qayyim’s “The Way to Patience and Gratitude” opts for “Allah is Greater” as the specific translation of Allahu Akbar. On page 463, the following explanation is provided:

…I preferred using “the Greater” to “the Greatest”… Allahu Akbar literally means, “Allah is Greater” with the comparative mode. Yet, this does not mean that He (Glory be to Him) is not the Greatest, nor does it mean that there is anything that is put in comparison with Him. This is because when the Muslim says it, he means He is “Greater” than anything else, which, consequently, means He is the Greatest. This use gives more influence. This may be why it is used in Arabic this way, otherwise it should have been used as “Allahu al-Akbar”, in the superlative mode. Surely, Allah Knows best.

“Allahu Akbar” is heard every time a Muslim Terrorist commits an act of violence.

After 9/11, the FBI released a letter reportedly handwritten by the hijackers and found in three separate copies on 9/11—at Dulles, at the Pennsylvania crash site, and in Mohamed Atta’s suitcase. It included a checklist of final reminders for the 9/11 hijackers. An excerpt reads: “When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.”

When in March 2002 Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat of Hamas, popularized as “Umm Nidal” (and subsequently elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council) learned that her 17-year-old son had been killed on a suicide mission in which he killed five teenagers, she celebrated by proclaiming “Allahu Akbar!” and giving out boxes of halva and chocolates. In 2003, when Imam Samudra became the second Bali bomber from a violent Islamist group to be sentenced to death for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, Samudra greeted his sentence with chants of “Allahu Akbar”.

In 2004, in an execution video of Nick Berg being beheaded in Iraq, as one man sawed off Berg’s head the other captors shouted: “Allahu Akbar!”. And in the 2007 Fort Dix attack plot, a group of radical Islamists who were convicted of plotting an attack on the Fort Dix military base in New Jersey had videotaped themselves shooting weapons and shouting Allahu Akbar. In 2008, Aafia Siddiqui yelled “Allah Akbar” as she allegedly fired at U.S. interrogators.

During the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, witnesses reported that gunman Nidal Malik Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire, killing 13 people and wounding 30 others. And Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad smiled and said “Allahu Akbar” after receiving a life sentence in 2010 for his attempted bombing.

During the incident aboard American Airlines Flight 1561, the person attempting to bash his way into the cockpit was heard shouting “Allahu Akbar”. Mohammed Merah recorded himself shouting Allahu Akbar as he killed three French paratroopers in the 2012 Midi-Pyrénées shootings.

Senator, you sure don’t hear Christians running around screaming “Thank God!” as they are blowing themselves up and killing people, do you?

I know that you had a long day yesterday, Maverick, but shouldn’t you have been paying attention to the Senate Hearings concerning  going to war, err. I mean having a “limited engagement” with Syria? I mean, after all, that’s your job, isn’t it?

Senility is a horrible thing.

Why on earth are you supporting intervening in Syria, on behalf of a bunch of Muslim Terrorists, John?

Perhaps…you are just repaying them for their support.

Back in 2008, the BBC reported that

Supporters of al-Qaeda have said they would prefer Republican candidate John McCain to win the US election because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In a message broadcast on the password-protected al-Hesbah site, the group said they would also welcome a pre-election terror attack on the US because that would make a McCain win more likely.

In an endorsement that will not be welcomed by Mr McCain’s flagging campaign, the group said that if al-Qaeda wants to exhaust the US, militarily and economically, the “impetuous” Republican presidential candidate is the better choice.

“This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier,” the message said.

“Then, al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush.”

“If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests,” it said, “this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it.”

Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, had no immediate comment.

As an official “Wacko Bird”, i.e., Conservative, I would like to say that Progressive Republicans, like John McCain, and his pet dog, Lindsey Graham, are one of the reasons that Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm) is the President of these United States.

Not only are Progressive Republicans, like “The Sunshine Boys”, and Obama’s golfing buddy, Cryin’ John Boehner, weak and ineffectual, if they had any tes…err…intestinal fortitude whatsoever, that would be jumping on America’s scandal-ridden Administration with both feet. Instead, they’re acting like the wussified Country Club Elite that they are…whether they are reaching across the aisle to intervene on behalf of these Syrian [al Qaeda] Rebels or trying to pass “Immigration Reform”, which will do nothing but add new Democratic Voters to the rolls.

It’s getting more and more difficult to tell the Republican Leadership from the Democratic Leadership.

Straight talk, from Conservative American Leaders like Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, and Lt. Col. Allen West, is what America needs to hear, not rhetoric about “America’s responsibility to bomb Assad”, “sharing the wealth” or “social justice”. And, we especially do not need for Vichy Republicans like Juan McAmnesty to continue sucking up to our enemies, foreign and domestic.

The resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC is doing more than enough of that, all by himself.
