Rapper “Young Dolph” Killed in Front of Memphis Bakery as the Former “City of Good Abode” Continues to Earn its FBI Rank as the “Most Dangerous City in the U.S.”

Young Dolph

FoxNews.com reports that

Rapper Young Dolph is dead after being shot and killed while visiting a bakery in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

A representative for the artist, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., told Variety in a statement that they are “shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of our dear friend and client, Young Dolph.”

“The world has lost an icon, a great man and beloved artist who has been taken too soon,” it adds. “His dedication, drive, hard work and loyalty to all those around him always came first and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this most difficult time.”

The Memphis Police Department told Fox News Digital that officers responded to the scene of a shooting at Makeda’s Butter Cookies around 12:24 p.m. local time where they discovered a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they have not yet identified a suspect at this time.

The department added in a statement posted to Twitter that Dolph’s purported murder is “another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence.”

The prominent Memphis emcee, 36, was shot after he arrived at that popular bakery – which he frequented often and promoted on social media – when the alleged perpetrator drove up and then shot and killed him, the store’s owner, Maurice Hill, told FOX 13 in Memphis.

Young Dolph’s Lamborghini sat in the parking lot of the bakery when FOX 13 crews arrived to the scene located in a South Memphis strip mall.

A local man in the immediate area across the street from the scene told Fox News Digital he heard what was believed to be gunshots ring at the strip mall where the bakery is located.

The gentleman said he heard about 25 shots fired in rapid succession followed by a pause in gunfire. The man then says he heard about five or 10 more shots.

“He pulled his Lamborghini up to the shop and they got him, man. They got him,” the local said of the tragic shooting.

Another person was also with Dolph at the time of the shooting, FOX 13 reported, citing Memphis Police sources.

Despite Dolph being a huge presence in Tennessee, the independent performer and local philanthropist has been mired by potentially fatal run-ins in the past.

In September 2017, Dolph was shot in Los Angeles when he got into an altercation with three men outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel.

The broad daylight attack occurred in the heart of the tourist area around the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and North Highland Avenue.

In February of that year, Dolph was in an SUV in Charlotte, North Carolina, when the vehicle came under gunfire. Three people were later arrested in May in connection with the shooting.

Dolph released an album in April of that year, titled, “Bulletproof,” that referenced the shooting in Charlotte. It peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

FOX 13 reported a massive crowd gathering around the perimeter near the scene with some people lying on the ground in tears.

“The tragic shooting death of rap artist Young Dolph serves as another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it,” Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said in a statement to The Associated Press. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

Dolph was reportedly set to pass out turkeys at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis this Friday.

I am not surprised.

According to the FBI’s 2020 Uniform Crime Report, as reported 2 days ago by 247wallst.com

The most dangerous city in the United States was Memphis. Here are the details:

Violent crime rate: 1,359 per 100,000 people (18,324 total crimes)
One-year change in violent crime rate: +21.3%
Homicide rate: 24.2 per 100,000 people (327 total homicides)
Poverty rate: 15.4%

The Memphis metro area ranks as the most dangerous in the United States. More than 18,000 violent crimes were reported in the metro area in 2020, or 1,359 for every 100,000 people. That is more than three times the U.S. violent crime rate. The number of homicides committed in Memphis climbed by 38%, from 237 in 2019 to 327 in 2020. At 24.2 per 100,000 people, the homicide rate in Memphis is the second-highest of any U.S. metro area.

Deadly violence continues to increase in Memphis. The city has reported more homicides so far in 2021 than it had over the comparable period the previous year. City leaders have plans to curtail criminal violence in the city but reportedly need hundreds of additional police officers to execute those plans. The department is reportedly offering a $15,000 signing bonus in order to aid in the recruitment effort.

As a 62-year-old resident of the Memphis Area, I have borne witness to the governmental mismanagement and resulting decay and degeneration of what was once one of the friendliest places in the country to live.

There are still friendly people in Memphis, but, chances are, they work in Memphis and are living in the suburbs, as I do.

The mass exodus of Memphis taxpayers started when Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton, who occupied that office from 1991-2008, told taxpayers of a Caucasian persuasion, if they did not like the way he was running the city, they could leave.

So, they did.

Since then, violent crime in Memphis has steadily risen, to the point where some suburban husbands will not allow their families to enter Memphis during the day or night.

On February 6, 2013, the Majority-Black-Democrat Memphis City Council renamed three Confederate-themed parks to prevent some State Legislators from blocking such name changes.

The council passed a resolution to immediately rename Confederate Park and Jefferson Davis Park in downtown Memphis and Nathan Bedford Forrest Park, which lies just a few miles away. The vote was 9-0 with three members abstaining.

And now, per the FBI, Memphis is the most dangerous city in the United States of America.

It must have been those Confederate Statues’ fault…it just HAS to have been the fault of the General and his wife…maybe even, his horse.

It has to have been.

Otherwise, the people who have been responsible for the descent of “The City of Good Abode” into Detroit South, where black Americans like “Little Dolph” are being murdered every day and night and citizens are being shot at on the expressways, would have to be held responsible for their own actions.

And we can’t have that, now…

Can we?

Disgruntled Employee Shoots 13, Kills 1 Plus Himself at Kroger in Collierville, TN…What is Happening to Us?

Kroger Collierville

WREG.com reports that

Multiple people were injured Thursday in a shooting inside the Kroger on Byhalia and Poplar Avenue in Collierville, a Memphis suburb, after an active shooter incident officials are calling the “most horrific event” in the town’s history.

Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane confirmed 13 people were shot, and one person killed. The suspected shooter also is dead, possibly from a self-inflicted gunshot, Lane said.

A family member and a Collierville alderman has identified one of the victims as Olivia King.

The suspect’s vehicle is still parked and is being investigated. Sources say the suspect was a sub contractor who did work in the store’s deli department.

Lane said officers entered the store just after 1:30 and found multiple people shot, and employees in hiding. He could not comment on whether the shooter was an employee, saying it was under investigation.

Lane called it “the most horrific event that’s occurred in Collierville history.”

Multiple witnesses report hearing at least a dozen shots. Some customers made it out of the store. Employees had others take shelter in the cooler, witnesses said.

One employee named Brignetta Dickerson, who says she’s worked at the Kroger for 32 years, told WREG she hid with her coworkers and several customers when they heard the gunshots.

She said her only concern was her customers and coworkers.

“I’m still in shock right now,” said Dickerson. “But I was calm. I was calm and told the customers and my co-workers ‘Just sit down and relax. You’ll be okay.’”

Get the latest news updates on your phone! DOWNLOAD THE WREG APP

Jean Kurzawski said she worked in the back of the Kroger and heard noises toward the front entrance. She thought balloons were popping at first until she saw customers running. She escaped out a back exit and said she heard gunshots continuing behind her.

“I was just thinking, oh I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die, he’s gonna shoot me,” she said.

Collierville High School was briefly sheltering in place.

Multiple ambulances were seen entering Regional One Hospital in Memphis. The hospital reported it saw nine patients, four in critical condition and five non-critical.

Kroger released a statement on the shooting:

We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at our Kroger store located on New Byhalia Rd. in Collierville, TN – a suburb of Memphis. The entire Kroger family offers our thoughts, prayers and support to the individuals and families of the victims during this difficult time. We are cooperating with local law enforcement, who have secured the store and parking lot. The store will remain closed while the police investigation continues, and we have initiated counseling services for our associates. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are referring questions to the Collierville Police Department.

The Collierville store will remain closed until further notice, Kroger Delta Division spokeswoman Teresa Dickerson said.

“We are praying for our associates here in Collierville,” she said.

Collierville is a beautiful town right outside of Memphis, TN.

Having lived in the Memphis Area most of my life, I have high school friends who live in Collierville.

When the news came on in the break room where I work, my first thought was that one or more of them may have been in the Kroger Grocery Store when this horrible event occurred.

I immediately went to Facebook to check and, thank God, none of them were in the store at that time.

Since the shooting, word has come out and has been confirmed that a disgruntled employee was the shooter.

If gave me a horrible feeling of Deja Vu, as this was very similar to the Southaven, MS Walmart Shooting back in July of 2019 when a fired employee ambushed the Store Manager as he got out of his car as he arrived to work. The murderer set the baby area of the store on fire and then killed the grocery manager, who also had a part in his firing.

That piece of trash got burned but survived.

I am sure that over the next several days that the Powers-That-Be in Memphis will get their mugs in front of every Television News Camera that they can and holler for “Gun Control”, which will be an extremely hypocritical move being that Memphis is the Third Most Dangerous City in America.

As Democratically-controlled cities like Memphis, Chicago, and New York have found out the hard way, strict gun control laws do not work.

Outlaws will find a way to get guns. That is why they are called “outlaws”.

And the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Guns can not pull their own trigger.

What happened yesterday was horribly tragic.

Unfortunately, we live in a different culture than a lot of us grew up in.

When God’s Word is replaced by man’s Political Expediencies, society begins to call good “evil” and evil “good”.

And, without having a Solid Rock to stand on, society crumbles.

Until He Comes,

Remains of General Nathan Bedford Forrest and Wife Removed From Memphis Park as Cultural Marxism Continues

Members of the Memphis Greenspace board take a look at the now former grave of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday, June 11, 2021. Workers removed the remains of Forrest and his wife from the Tennessee park, marking another step in the process of moving their bodies out of Memphis and to a museum hundreds of miles away. …After the Culture Jihadists finish culturally cleansing the Southern States — they’ll be showing up in your neighborhood — to destroy any painting, statue, monument, film or book they find offensive. – Todd Starnes

WREG.com reports that

The remains of Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife have been removed from Health Sciences Park in Memphis, where they had been interred since the early 20th century.

The remains were discovered Monday, June 7 at 9:01 a.m., said Van Turner with Memphis Greenspace.

“We would hope that the example showed here with the safe removal of the monuments and the safe removal of the remains will serve as an example of what we can do to move this city forward,” said Turner, a Shelby County commissioner who called it “a great day for Memphis.”

They are currently in an undisclosed location, said Lee Millar with the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Members of the Forrest family were present for the removal, and a licensed funeral director was in charge of the process. A public announcement was not made.

“We wanted to do this in a very reverent manner to honor the general and his wife,” Millar said.

| Crews begin work to remove Nathan Bedford Forrest’s statue pedestal, remains from Memphis park →

Memphis Greenspace, the nonprofit that was granted ownership of the former city-owned Forrest Park, along with the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which is taking responsibility for the remains and monument, joined city officials to make the announcement Friday.

A large statue of Forrest was removed from the park at 9:01 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2017 after the city transferred ownership of the park to a nonprofit. The pedestal supporting it remained until workers began removing it several days ago.

About eight feet under the pedestal were the tombs of the former Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan leader, along with his wife. Forrest died in 1877 and was originally buried in Elmwood cemetery before the remains were moved and the monument built on Union Avenue in the early 20th century.

The remains will be relocated to Columbia, Tennessee.

Removal was complicated both by COVID-19, which held up the legal process because courts were closed, and because no one knew precisely where the remains were buried. Old burial records were used to find the location.

“From there it became more like an archaeological excavation site, so that we could preserve the remains and get them removed safely and in a dignified way,” said funeral director Brent Taylor.

Forrest’s casket was intact; his wife’s had deteriorated so a new casket was provided. A Victorian cradle was also found.

Turner said the park, formerly known as Forrest Park, will host a Juneteenth Festival in a few days. He said the plan for the park is for it to be “just a park” for now, without any symbolism.

Memphis Greenspace also removed a monument to Confederate President Jefferson Davis from Memphis Park downtown.

As of 2021, Memphis is the third most dangerous city in the United States of America, per NeighborhoodScout.com.

It must have been those Confederate Statues’ fault…it just HAS to have been the fault of the General and his wife…maybe even, his horse.

It has to have been.

Otherwise, the people who have been responsible for the descent of “The City of Good Abode” into Detroit South, where black Americans are being murdered every night of the week, would have to be held responsible for their own actions.

And we can’t have that, now…

Can we?

By the way, what those who desecrated the remains of the General don’t want you to dwell on is the fact that the property formerly known as Forrest Park was sold for $1 in a scam that involved several Memphis and Shelby County Officials.

Does this mean that we can dig up their relatives who have passed away and “relocate” them, too, if we find them to be “offensive”?

Just asking.

But, I digress…

It is time for the Memphis City Council to quite worrying about offending somebody or not be seen as being “politically correct” and to start worrying about the fact that Memphis has too much violent crime, which is affecting the city’s revenue in innumerable ways.

But, by gosh, by golly, now that the Memphis City Council has gotten rid of the General and Mrs. Forrest, decades of poor Democratic Stewardship will magically disappear and all of Memphis’ problems will be solved.

…And, I’m actually a blonde 22-year old Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader named “Buffy”.

If the City Council actually believes that parks named after Confederate soldiers, historical statues, and solemn gravesites are the reason that Memphis, Tennessee has regressed from being an annual “City Beautiful Award” Winner to a city that is the Third Most Dangerous City in America, then I believe that they have their heads lodged firmly up a dark and lonely place.

At this rate, they might as well leave their heads where they are, because they are certainly not using them to think.

Here’s a serious question:

When the Woke Political Activists and Politicians have finished removing any American History involving the Confederacy…whose family will they dig up next because they are offended?

Martin Luther King’s Birthday, “The Great Society”, and the Trump Economic Boom…a Chance to Break the Cycle

MLK-Character-Matters

Today is a national holiday, celebrating the birthday of Civil Rights Pioneer, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Somewhere, up in heaven, he is shaking his head in mournful embarrassment.

As a lifelong (59 years young) resident of the Memphis area, I continue to witness the dissolution of the once strong and proud Black American Family Unit.

I am also, as are most of you, bearing witness to Black and White Liberal Politicians making excuses for the out-of-control, self-inflicted genocide of 13% of America’s Population, as they blame it on “Racial Inequality”, and somehow being unable to succeed due to the actions of Americans who lived almost 200 years ago and whose statues are somehow still oppressing them to this day.

This “oppression” somehow continues, even though a black man held the most powerful political office in the Free World for 8 years and was given carte blanche by both the Main Stream Media and the Political Elite in Washington, DC, to do just about whatever he wanted to do.

America’s Far Left Political Activists, including this Former President of the United States, are still attempting, what is known in both sports and military strategy, as a “misdirection” play.

While these politicians and paid protesters shout about “equality” in front of every television camera that they can get in front of, at the same time, here in the real world, black children are being born into a situation which handicaps them from the start: the burden of an illegitimate birth and the reality of a fatherless home.

How many black children are being born out-of-wedlock?

Among non-Hispanic blacks, the figure is highest, at 72.2 percent; for American Indians/Alaska Natives, it’s 66.9 percent; 53.5 percent for Hispanics; 29.4 percent for non-Hispanic whites; and a mere 17.1 percent for Asians/Pacific Islanders.

These Americans, unlike the majority of us, are growing up without appropriate parental guidance, i.e., no one teaching them “the way in which they should go”

What are the consequences of growing up without a strong Father figure?

How did the once strong Black American Family Unit get torn asunder?

Back in the 60s, President Lyndon Johnson (whose big hand I once shook, at his ranch, as a little boy, after his presidential term) and the Democrats, brought forth a plan, called “the Great Society”. It was decided, in order to ensure that everyone would have an equal opportunity in America, that Uncle Sugar would step in to fill in the gaps.

Two seminal pieces of legislation were passed.

First, the Civil Rights Bill that JFK promised to sign, before his assassination, was passed into law. This Act banned discrimination based on race and gender in employment and ending segregation in all public facilities.

It also helped to cement in stone, minorities’ loyalty to the Democratic Party, which continues to this day.

The second bill that LBJ signed into law was the sweeping ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY ACT OF 1964. It created the Office of Economic Opportunity whose stated purpose was to attack the roots of American poverty. A Job Corps was then established to provide vocational training.

A preschool program designed to help disadvantaged students arrive at kindergarten ready to learn, named HEADSTART, was then established. Then came VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA (VISTA), which was set up as a domestic Peace Corps. Schools in impoverished American regions would now receive volunteer teaching attention. Federal funds were sent to struggling communities to attack unemployment and illiteracy.

What Johnson told Americans, as he campaigned in 1964, was that the establishment of this “Great Society” was going to eliminate the problems of America’s poor.

It had the opposite effect

The Great Society created a dependent class, which, instead of diminishing as it’s members joined the workforce, increased from generation to generation, relying on the federal government to provide their every need.

Uncle Sugar became Mother, Father, Preacher, and Doctor to generations of Americans. This “plantation mentality” continues to this day.

A few years ago, I worked at our county’s State Employment Center Office.

While at the Employment Office, I was able to observe Americans, both Black and White, down on their luck, struggling to find work and survive in this economy. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of “unemployed ” who came to this particular office were Black.

I saw Black American Families whose existence living on the Government Dole, had become generational.

It is these people whom Obama and the Democrats have hypnotized into believing that Uncle Sugar loves them, and is their only solution to surviving a stifling existence.

They are so, so wrong.

The strength and vitality of America does not come from the benevolence of a Nanny-state Federal Government.

As the greatest American President of my lifetime, Ronald Reagan said:

The nine words you never want to hear are: I’m from the Government and I’m here to help.

Being enslaved to the Government Dole steals one’s ambition. It takes away any impetus or desire to create a better life for yourself and your family, to challenge yourself to pick yourself up by your bootstraps and pursue the American Dream. It makes you reliant on a politically motivated spider’s web full of government bureaucrats who view you and your family as job security.

I watched American citizens trapped in this web of government bureaucracy, so numbed of any initiative that they once had, that they seemed offended that they actually had to prove that they inquired about three jobs that week in order to keep their “benefits”. Others seemed puzzled that they had to search through the state data base and pick out a job that they wanted to talk to an interviewer about receiving a referral to, and weren’t just simply handed a job when they walked through the door.

Instead of moving forward, by exercising the self-reliance that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached so well, these people I saw, were content on being “taken care of” by Uncle Sugar, as if being held down by their own poor, miserable circumstance, was a good thing.

During the Obama Administration, racial division in American became intentionally exacerbated for the purpose of political gain and the results of LBJ’s “Great Society” became the lead story in every television newscast, on every newspaper front page, and on every internet news/political website.

Dr. King, I am sorry to tell you that racism and injustice is still going on in America. Unfortunately, it will not end any time soon, There are too many race-baiters profiting off of it.

Including those who are dead set in somehow ending the time in office of our current President, Donald J. Trump.

Which is very strange to me, sir. You see, those who wish him to be gone have adopted the worn-out tactic of accusing Trump of racism, which is a very odd tactic to use.

The reason that I say that is because the National Black Unemployment Rate fell from 7.2 percent to 6.8 percent in the month of December, beating the previous low of 7 percent set in April 2000.

The other thing that puzzles me about the efforts by  self-proclaimed”Black Leaders” to label the President a racist is best explained by Stephen Moore, a writer for the Heritage Foundation, in a syndicated article which I have pulled an excerpt from  in The Chicago Tribune, which was posted on August 21st of last year…

No one cared more about the plight of black Americans than Barack Obama — our first African-American president — who won well more than 90 percent of the black vote. But the sad paradox of Obama’s presidency is that a president who was going to lift up black America economically didn’t deliver. From 2009 to 2015, the incomes of black Americans fell by more than $900 per family adjusted for inflation.

So far under Trump, median family incomes have risen by more than $1,000, according‎ to Sentier Research and based on Census Bureau numbers. These numbers are not broken down by race, but it’s a pretty good bet that black incomes have risen with those of other races under Trump.

What about other metrics of black economic progress under Trump? It’s early for sure, but we have some preliminary results since Election Day, when the stock market started its latest bull market run.

The black unemployment rate has fallen by a full percentage point in the last year, black labor force participation is up and the number of black Americans with a job has risen by 600,000 from last year. Preliminary data show black wages and incomes are up since the election.

The rate of job growth per month for blacks under Trump has so far been 40 percent higher than the monthly average under ‎Obama. Trump has averaged nearly 30,000 new black jobs per month. That’s especially remarkable because Obama was elected when employment was way down.

Another issue that is critically important to black and Hispanic economic progress is good schools. Trump is advancing the idea of school choice so that every child can attend a quality school, public or private. In cities such as Washington, D.C., and Milwaukee, the children who benefit from voucher and scholarship programs are predominantly black. Trump wants to increase by tenfold the number of black children who benefit from these vouchers and scholarships.

The goal here is to give every poor or minority child the same range of education choices that wealthy families have.

The same people who denounce Trump for being a racist hypocritically oppose Trump’s plan for better school options for black children. I have heard many liberal commentators compare Trump to George Wallace, the late Alabama governor who defended school segregation and stood in front of the white public schools with armed guards to keep the black children out.

Now we have liberals and teachers unions figuratively standing in front of the high-quality white private schools like modern-day George Wallaces trying to keep black children out.

Trump also wants more infrastructure spending, more energy jobs and more apprenticeship programs so our youth have access to better jobs and better training. Disproportionately, blacks and other minorities will benefit from these programs, because fewer have the financial capability to go to a four-year college.

So is Trump a racist who doesn’t care about the future of black Americans? Let’s face it. He’s no Jack Kemp when it comes to talking about race and healing wounds with his words. But Trump is creating more jobs and higher incomes for blacks and other minorities and is trying to give a better education to every disadvantaged black child in America. That is a pretty impressive civil rights record. ‎

Dr. King, the part of your magnificent speech about “the content of their character” has been purposefully ignored by the professional race-baiters and assorted politicians (but, I repeat myself), once again, in an effort to make them and their political cronies flush with power and money.

Sir, your call for self-reliance took a back seat to their self-serving agenda, a long time ago.

And, that resulted in the dissolution of the Black American Nuclear Family, a cycle of poverty, and an inability or unwillingness of some to take a risk and to break out of a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure perpetuated by self-serving politicians and “community leaders” who have made careers out of limiting the participation of Black Americans in the American Dream.

You had a dream, sir.

And, I am certain that each one of them has one, too.

And, none of them should be held back from working hard and succeeding simply because achieving the American Dream on their own does not fit into a political party’s self-serving agenda.

Until He Comes,

Multiple Injuries After Shooting at Packed Shopping Mall in Memphis Suburb. With Confederate Statues Torn Down, Who Do You Blame Now, Memphis?

15702503_G

On December 20, 2017, as a result of political chicanery, including a City Council Vote taken after business hours, statues of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and Confederate President Jefferson Davis were removed from two city parks which had been sold at a rock bottom price to another member of local government in a scam created to get around a ruling by the Tennessee State Historical Commission which prevented such an action from taking place.

Memphis’ CBS Affiliate, WREG, reports that

Memphis is getting national attention for the recent removal of two confederate statues and many people are turning to social media to express their opinions about the controversial move.

What used to be a handful of negative reviews on the City of Memphis Facebook page quickly shot up to hundreds after the statues came down.

“It’s fairly obvious that it’s overwhelmingly out of towners,” said Kyle Veazey, deputy communications director for the city. Many people rated Memphis one star, leaving comments about a corrupt government destroying history.

Veazey said these reviews led him to post on his own social media page.

“I just tweeted, ‘Look this is happening. Wouldn’t it be nice if a bunch of Memphians got on and shared how they felt about the city of Memphis?’ Because I know Memphians feel pretty good about Memphis,” he said.

So Memphians joined in and said why they believe we’re a five-star city.

One person wrote, “We are a diverse, creative and talented community.”

Another person commented on the quality of food, music, hospitals and companies.

Slowly, the positive reviews climbed to meet the negative ones.

“I think it was a great moment of Memphis pride,” said Veazey. “That’s sort of my big takeaway.”

As of Tuesday evening, there were nearly 2,000 reviews on the city’s Facebook page with more coming in. Veazey said before the statues were taken down, there were about 150 reviews total.

The posts go back and forth from one-star reviews calling our city dangerous and dirty, to five-star reviews saying the city is ‘filled with wonderful, caring people who love sharing their Southern Hospitality with everyone.’

There are remarks about the city’s rich history and progressive future, along with the fight against hate and bigotry — while others talk about disrespecting historical monuments and the city focusing on the wrong issues.

Veazey says he supports the freedom of speech and leaving your opinion, but he has a message for those calling Memphis a one-star city without giving it a real chance:

“I would encourage them to come see how great Memphis is and truly experience it,” he said. “We’re about to celebrate our bicentennial. We’re about to commemorate the 50th year since Dr. King was killed in our city. There’s such a wide arch of history good and bad, but Memphis is a city that’s changed the world. We say it all the time and there’s so much about it that goes beyond one reaction to one news event.”

Veazey said people have accused the city of deleting some of the negative reviews but said only Facebook has the power to take them down. However, they can report comments containing hate speech or harassment.

Veazey also said a lot of people wrote online that Nathan Bedford Forrest’s grave was removed from the park, which is not true.

Meanwhile, WMC-TVWMC-TV, the NBC Affiliate was reporting that

Memphis Police Department said three people were injured after shots were fired in Wolfchase Galleria parking lot.

Police said two of the victims are at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett in non-critical condition. One was taken by private vehicle to Regional Medical Center.

Officers have detained four people.

Police said the shooting did not take place inside the mall.

“Preliminary indications are that the shooting took place just outside the mall,” Louis Brownlee with MPD said.

Brownlee also said that a gun was found outside the mall, and he is not sure if the gun was used in the shooting.

Wolfchase Galleria announced the mall is closed.

Exactly one year ago, Wolfchase Galleria was cleared because of a disturbance.

Here’s a history of “incidents” that have happened at Wolfchase Galleria and Oak Court Mall in East Memphis.

All of those incidents at those 2 malls MUST have been the fault of those two dastardly statues, honoring those evil Confederate Generals.

It was mind control, I tell ya! Mind Control!!!

Oh, wait.

Before the Wolfchase Galleria Shooting last night, those mean ol’ statues were torn down in the dark of night, after they and the parks that they stood in were sold for the price of $1,000 a piece to a phony non-profit organization, which was actually a black Shelby County Commissioner.

On Christmas Afternoon, the day before yesterday, I was sitting in my living room , beside my loving wife, step-son, daughter-in-law, and 10-year old grandson, watching “Despicable 3, which Santa had brought. As we were watching the movie and dozing off from eating too much, I watched with pride as my grandson remained entranced by the movie as my “kid” had his arm around his son.

As I watched my grandson laying against his Dad, I thought about what a difference having a father makes in a boy’s life.

My father certainly made an everlasting difference in mine. He is the one who led me to Christ, counseling and supporting me, and loving me until he passed away after Christmas in 1997.

I think of him and thank God for him often.

I have had the privilege of being the step-father of 3 very different boys, now grown into young men. The first one works as an account executive with a major company. The second one is a seminary student who is planting a church in Midtown Memphis. And the last one, who I mentioned earlier, is a truck driver, who is home every night.

I think often about all three of these young men often and pray that I have made a difference in their lives.

What got me thinking about the role that fathers play in the lives of young men, is all of the gang-related violence, black-on-black homicides, and “flash mobs” that are happening in our American Cities, like my Hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

In today’s modern culture, the stigma of having a baby out of wedlock is quite frankly no longer a stigma. In some corners, especially the Liberal ones, It is actually considered a sign of Feminine Independence.

Among a lot of the young black male population, it is a sign of prestige to be a player, or, as we used to call it, a “ladies’ man”.

This practice has become so popular, that now 75 percent of America’s black population is being born out of wedlock and being raised without a father.

Grandfathers, uncles, clergy, and school coaches and principals try to fill in the gap and help these boys as they grow up, but a boy needs a man around every day of their life.

They need a consistent role model to teach them right from wrong, how to treat women, and how to be a man.

Regardless of what all of the Liberal experts say, a male father figure is essential in building a young man’s self- image.

So, what’s the answer?

A song that Elton John came out with during his comeback in the 1980’s goes,

Mama don’t want you
Daddy don’t want you
Give it up baby, baby
Mama can’t buy you love

Liberal Municipal Governments, such as the one which runs Memphis, can continue to blame their troubles on reminders of a troubling time in American History as an excuse to censor history which they view as “offensive”.

And, Municipal and Federal Governments can throw as much money at the problem of gang-related and individually-caused violence as they want to.

However, until this Cycle of Irresponsibility, i.e., irresponsible parents creating irresponsible kids, somehow gets broken, through prayer, education, and community/church involvement, crime will continue to escalate in America’s Cities.

Because, if the parents do not want to love, care for, and raise their children in the way that they should go, the gangs and the other criminals in the ‘Hood certainly will.

Memphis City Council Sells Parks, Removes Confederate Statues Under Cover of Night, and Yet, the City’s Problems Remain – A KJ Analysis

8565600777_1aa5b25353_o-1024x811

“Walking in Memphis.

Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale.

Walking in Memphis.

But, do I really feel the way I feel?” – Marc Cohen, 1991

Personally, I feel like I’m gonna hurl.

In the grand tradition of the Barbarians of ISIS and the Communist Revolution of 1918, the Memphis City Council, relying on the cover of the dark of night, simply removed historical monuments which “offended” them.

Memphis’s CBS Affiliate, WREG, reports that

The statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest was hoisted off its platform and lowered to a truck at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday, 112 years after the Confederate general and former Memphis resident was memorialized in a city park.Memphis City Council voted unanimously Wednesday evening to remove two controversial Confederate statues in Memphis, those of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis. They immediately approved the minutes.

Almost immediately, a heavy police presence surrounded the park and a crane rolled into Health Sciences Park on Union Avenue within minutes of the decision.

According to a tweet from Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, the public parks have been sold to a private entity. He says the removal will be conducted by a private entity and will be compliant with the law.

Strickland is supposed to make a public comment at City Hall tonight.

The park property was transferred to a nonprofit called Memphis Greenspace. The group’s website lists its director as Van Turner, a former Shelby County commissioner.

Lee Millar with Sons of Confederate Veterans responded, “It is a deliberate attempt to avoid the state law and the city is breaking the law.”

The group in a Facebook post called the nonprofit the parks were sold to a “sham” and accused the city of desecrating Forrest’s gravesite.

The NAACP Memphis Branch said in a statement that history was made Wednesday. “The Memphis City Council and Mayor Jim Strickland heard the voices of the people who wanted these removed and legally made it happen.”

“We know we have more work to do, but it’s always nice to get a win,” said pastor Earle Fisher, who credited the work of Tami Sawyer with the group Takeemdown901 with pushing the issue. “I think it’s fair to say we would not be where we are today without her leadership.”

Fisher said the group would continue to fight for other issues such as pay and poverty.

City officials have said for some time that are unanimous in wanting Memphis’ Confederate statues removed before the 50th anniversary next year of Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination in Memphis in April 1968.

Forrest, a Confederate general and slave trader in Memphis, was originally buried in Elmwood Cemetery. His grave was moved to Union Avenue and the equestrian statue built there in 1905.

Davis’ monument was placed Downtown in 1965.

As a 59-year-old resident of the Memphis Area, I have borne witness to the governmental mismanagement and resulting decay and degeneration of what was once one of the friendliest places in the country to live.

And now, they have decided that because an era of American History is offensive to some, it is their job to censor history and remove any sort of reminder of that turbulent time.

Meanwhile, the black-on-black homicidal genocide continues in what was once the “City of Good Abode”, now #2 on the FBI’s Most Dangerous Cities List for 2017.

Can we?

By the way, what those who moved the General don’t want you to dwell on is the fact that the General and his wife were buried beside the statue and therefore now have to be “relocated”.

For instance, Memphis has no big conventions, such as the Annual Convocation of the Church of God in Christ, coming to it anymore because of inadequate convention space, which cannot be renovated and expanded because no big conventions will come to the Bluff City. Meanwhile, the Occupancy Rate of Memphis Hotels remains at a constant, stagnant 52%.

But, by gosh, by golly, now that the Memphis City Council has gotten rid of the General and ol’ Jeff Davis, decades of poor Democratic Stewardship will magically disappear and all of Memphis’ problems will be solved.

…And, I’m actually a blonde 22-year old Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader named “Buffy”.

If the City Council actually believes that Confederate Statues are the reason that Memphis, Tennessee has regressed from being an annual “City Beautiful Award” Winner to a city where the Homicide Rate finished #7 in the entire nation last year, I believe that they have their heads lodged firmly up a dark and lonely place.

At this rate, they might as well leave their heads where they are, because they are certainly not using them to think.

Will the last taxpayer in Memphis please turn off the lights?

Until He Comes.

After Sutherland Springs Massacre, Dems Call for “Gun Control”…Again

Sutherland-600-CI

You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time… It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience. – Ronald Reagan

Whenever there is a mass homicide in America, Democratic Politicians, in some sort of obscene genetic pavlovian response, begin calling for honest Americans guns to be taken away.

For example…

The Washington Post reports that

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has been a leading voice for gun control after just about every recent mass shooting, ever since it was his state that was struck in 2012 by the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown.

But Murphy’s response to the latest tragedy — in Sutherland Springs, Tex. — is a little different even for him. It is a dark and ominous statement that at times feels somewhat resigned but also makes a point of arguing that we shouldn’t be resigned. In that way, it’s somewhat similar to how President Barack Obama spoke about mass shootings late in his term. Murphy, though, takes it even further, painting a vivid and stark picture of the “paralysis” we have faced after mass shootings and talking about “the blood that flows endlessly onto the floors” of the scenes of such attacks. And for all of it, he blames lawmakers who have sold out to the NRA.

Below is his full, four-paragraph statement, with some analysis interspersed:

“The paralysis you feel right now — the impotent helplessness that washes over you as news of another mass slaughter scrolls across the television screen — isn’t real. It’s a fiction created and methodically cultivated by the gun lobby, designed to assure that no laws are passed to make America safer, because those laws would cut into their profits. My heart sunk to the pit of my stomach, once again, when I heard of today’s shooting in Texas. My heart dropped further when I thought about the growing macabre club of families in Las Vegas and Orlando and Charleston and Newtown, who have to relive their own day of horror every time another mass killing occurs.

None of this is inevitable. I know this because no other country endures this pace of mass carnage like America. It is uniquely and tragically American. As long as our nation chooses to flood the county with dangerous weapons and consciously let those weapons fall into the hands of dangerous people, these killings will not abate.”

“These killings will not abate” and the “paralysis” lines both hark back to how Obama talked. After multiple failed efforts to persuade Congress to act on gun control, he and his White House admitted that the will simply wasn’t there.

After a 2015 shooting in Oregon, White House press secretary Joshua Earnest said the president was “quite realistic that we’ll need to see a fundamental change in terms of the way the American people communicate this priority to Congress before we’ll see a different outcome in the legislative process.”

Months earlier, after the mass shooting at a historically black church in South Carolina, Obama said: “At some point it’s going to be important for the American people to come to grips with it, and for us to be able to shift how we think about the issue of gun violence collectively.”

“As my colleagues go to sleep tonight, they need to think about whether the political support of the gun industry is worth the blood that flows endlessly onto the floors of American churches, elementary schools, movie theaters, and city streets. Ask yourself: How can you claim that you respect human life while choosing fealty to weapons-makers over support for measures favored by the vast majority of your constituents.”

Here, Murphy pins the “blood that flows endlessly onto the floors” directly on lawmakers who have opposed gun control. He suggests that those who claim to be “pro-life” aren’t following through on it on this particular issue.

“My heart breaks for Sutherland Springs. Just like it still does for Las Vegas. And Orlando. And Charleston. And Aurora. And Blacksburg. And Newtown. Just like it does every night for Chicago. And New Orleans. And Baltimore. And Bridgeport. The terrifying fact is that no one is safe so long as Congress chooses to do absolutely nothing in the face of this epidemic. The time is now for Congress to shed its cowardly cover and do something.”

The inclusion of Chicago here is noteworthy. Republicans have long held up the carnage in the Windy City as proof of Democrats’ selective outrage on gun violence, given the strict gun-control laws that exist there. Here, Murphy suggests it’s part of the epidemic of mass shootings — even as the shootings don’t claim as many victims all at once.

Murphy also calls for his colleagues to shed their “cowardly cover and do something.” It’s worth noting that it has been weeks since Las Vegas, after which there seemed to be bipartisan agreement — including from the NRA — about regulating bump stocks, which basically serve to turn a semiautomatic weapon into a fully automatic one. And the bill was only recently introduced.

Texas would seem less conducive to immediate gun-control legislation. The shooter, according to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), had been denied a gun permit, for example, which suggests that this wasn’t a matter of a lack of background checks. The shooter was also stopped by an armed civilian — a fact gun-rights supporters will emphasize. The NRA often argues that the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

In other words, it seems unlikely that Murphy’s plea and this particular incident will change much of anything. But Murphy also seems to know that.

Uh huh. That’s because he’s a Liberal Democrat and he just can’t help himself.

Speaking of Chicago…

The Chicago Tribune reports that

Chicago is close to recording its 600th homicide for the year, only the second time the city will have reached the grim milestone since 2003, according to data kept by the Tribune. After a weekend when 30 were people shot, five of them fatally, the number of homicides stands at 593 this year, according to the Tribune’s database.

That’s below the 681 homicides this time last year but substantially above other recent years.

Last year saw gun violence at levels not recorded since the late 1990s.  This year has not been as bad, but the last time the city hit 600 homicides was 2003, and that was for the entire year, according to statistics kept by the Chicago Police Department.

The Chicago Police Department’s count of homicides this year is 581 because, unlike the Tribune, it does not count homicides on expressways as well as fatal shootings by police officers and homicides considered justified.

Shootings have shown the same trend:  This year trails last year but not other recent years.  Nearly 3,200 people have been shot so far in 2017, down from the roughly 3,800 shot this time last year.   That’s compared to 2,609 at this time in 2015, 2,208 in 2014, 1,923 in 2013 and 2.162 in 2012, according to Tribune data.

Among those shot over this past weekend was a 14-year-old boy, who was grazed in the right foot and leg on Saturday afternoon. He and a 22-year-old man were fired at from a black sedan in the 2200 block of South Oakley Avenue in the West Side’s Heart of Italy neighborhood.

In another double shooting late Saturday night, a 37-year-old woman was killed while attending a party to celebrate what would have been the birthday of a man killed in August as he left the Cook County criminal courthouse.  A 25-year-old man was also shot and injured.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

And yet, people are still shooting and killing one another.

Which proves the old saying,

If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.

Have you ever watched a mother, when their toddler bumps their head on a table, attempt to distract their child, by pretending to spank the table, while saying, “Bad Table”?

That, in a nutshell, is what Former President Barack Hussein Obama attempted to do by writing Executive Orders and what current Congressional Democrats are calling for, in an attempt to limit the Constitutional Right of American Citizens to own guns.

By creating new restrictions, instead of enforcing gun laws which are already in place, these clueless Democratic Politicians are shifting the blame from those who operate outside of the law to America and her citizens.

The Democrats’ quest for “Gun Control”, if successful, would only succeed in controlling law-abiding American Citizens, instead of punishing those who operate outside of our laws, such as the thugs who have turned Former President Obama’s “hometown” of Chicago and my hometown of Memphis into their own personal “Killing Fields”.

If the Democrats had their way, we would live in a country under the oppression of restrictive gun laws, which would be modeled after those in Europe. And, as past events have plainly shown, those restrictive gun laws have allowed Islamic Terrorists and other murderous nut jobs to kill innocent people unchallenged, because none of those innocent people were allowed to carry a weapon with which to defend themselves.

In fact, in some cases, even the police officers, who first arrived on the scene, were unarmed, and had to call for additional forces, thus giving the perpetrators more time to murder and maim the innocent.

One of our Founding Fathers, Dr. Benjamin Franklin, once wrote,

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Like Dr. Franklin and the rest of those who have fought for our freedom, average Americans realize what Democrats do not.

The problem in cities like Chicago and Memphis is not that there are not enough gun laws. The problem is the gun laws on the books are not properly enforced.

The dissolution of the Black Family Unit, the revolving door state of our Municipal Justice Systems, and, in the case of the Sutherland Springs Massacre, the lack of recognition and treatment of the mentally ill, have a lot to do with the rise of homicides in those Metropolitan areas, as well.

What Liberals have never understood, in their continuous quest to take away the Second Amendment rights of average Americans is that we will never surrender our Constitutional Right to defend ourselves and our families from enemies foreign and domestic.

What part of the words quote “shall not be infringed” do you Liberals not understand?

Passing more restrictive gun laws is not the answer.

Criminals are called “outlaws” for a reason.

They will find a way to get guns. They do now.

This is a people problem. Not a gun problem.

After all, have you ever seen a gun pull its own trigger?

Until He Comes,

How Can a Confederate General’s Statue Be Responsible for All of Memphis’ Problems? Here’s a Hint: It Isn’t.

8565600777_1aa5b25353_o-1024x811

“Walking in Memphis.

Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale.

Walking in Memphis.

But, do I really feel the way I feel?” – Marc Cohen, 1991

Personally, I feel a little nauseous.

US News and World Report recently filed the following story…

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A city council in Tennessee plans to consider four different ways to deal with the growing uproar over the existence of two statues of Confederate leaders at city parks.

Council members in Memphis agreed Tuesday to discuss a resolution listing steps it can take to remove or board up statues of Jefferson Davis and Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Davis was the president of the Confederate States, while Forrest was a slave trader, Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan leader. Both statues have been the target of protests by activists who say the monuments represent racism and hate. Seven people were arrested after clashing with police during a protest at the location of the Forrest statue on Saturday.

Criticism of Confederate monuments has been intensifying since a rally earlier this month in Charlottesville, Virginia, turned violent when white nationalists opposed to the city’s plan to remove a statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee clashed with counter protesters.

Council member Martavius Jones compared having the statues in public parks to erecting monuments to former Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo and others who organized attacks on the United States.

“It would be no different than having a monument to Osama bin Laden,” said Jones, who is black.

Supporters of keeping the statues in place believe they represent an important part of history. The Sons of Confederate Veterans in Memphis has said the statues do not represent white supremacy and it would be a mistake to remove the monuments.

The council voted in 2015 to relocate the Forrest statue. But the Tennessee Historical Commission blocked the move under the Heritage Protection Act, which bars removing or disturbing war memorials on public property. A request by the city to waive criteria for the statue’s removal was denied in 2016 by the commission.

The statue is at a park where the Sons of Confederate Veterans celebrate Forrest’s birthday each year, with men and women dressed in Civil War-era garb and waving Confederate flags. The remains of Forrest and his wife are buried under the statue. The city has said it wants to move the remains to a cemetery.

Attorney Allan Wade presented the four steps to the council. The first was the immediate removal of the statues by the city, which would violate state law.

“I don’t think we should go out and yank them down tomorrow without some due process,” Wade said.

The second option would be to sell the statues to private entities, such as museums, and remove them from the parks. But that move also would violate the law, unless the city gets a waiver from the commission, Wade said.

The third step would be to petition the state historical commission for a waiver to its rules. But that is a complicated, lengthy process that has little chance of succeeding, partly because two-thirds of the commission needs to approve the waiver and some members do not want the statues removed.

“It is probably easier to have someone executed by lethal injection than to get a waiver from the Tennessee Historical Commission,” Wade said.

The fourth option would be to board up the monuments in order to guard them from vandalism or destruction and reduce the chance they would attract protests that would threaten the safety of the public and police.

Some Memphis city council members agreed that too much money is being spent on guarding the statues and dealing with protests — and police could use those resources on their regular duties.

Tami Sawyer, a Memphis activist who is leading the movement to remove the monuments, said she was pleased with the council’s decision to consider the four options.

A Tennessee Historical Commission spokesman did not immediately return a call placed after working hours on Tuesday.

The council plans to discuss the resolution at its next meeting on Sept. 5.

As a 58-year-old resident of the Memphis Area, I have borne witness to the governmental mismanagement and resulting decay and degeneration of what was once of the friendliest places in the country to live.

Requiem for a Bad Dog: John McCormack 1955-2011 (Six Year Anniversary Edition)

Yesterday marked the 6- Year Anniversary of the death of a legend known throughout Memphis and the entire Mid-South, larger-than-life Radio Personality John “Bad Dog” McCormack.  Here is a tribute which I wrote, upon hearing of his passing on March 10, 2010.  He is still truly missed.

If, when we’re standing before God, the amount of good we do with our lives, and the amount of joy and happiness that we are able to bring to this world of pain is brought up, then, Thursday afternoon, the Pearly Gates shook with the infectious laughter of one giant of a man.

John “Bad Dog” McCormack lost his long battle with AML late Thursday Afternoon at Methodist University Hospital in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.  Bad Dog was an on-air personality for 22 years at WEGR Rock 103, a Classic Rock Station.

Bad Dog began as a part of the Wake-up Crew with Tim Spencer and Bev Hart.  Dog was basically a 14-year-old kid in a man’s body.  He was a natural-born prankster, and became known for his creation of “The Twilight Phone”, an anonymous prank call he would make to unsuspecting citizens.

In one memorable call, he impersonated an Apartment Manager, calling a guy who dumped his fiance’s dead pet Piranhas into the apartment lake, claiming that they came back to life and the poor sap had to reimburse the apartment $2,800 for draining and restocking the lake.  And then, there was Bad Dog”s possibly most famous call, where he talked to an older gentleman named Mr. Lannum, impersonating a collector attempting to collect on a  past-due cable bill.  Mr. Lannum went ballistic, cussing a blue streak that is still talked of in hushed tones to this day, 20 years later:

When he finally clued the individuals in to whom they had been talking to, each one of them eventually forgave him, because, after all, it was Bad Dog.

Another routine that Bad Dog came up with, was remarkable.  In a city known for racial polarization, he came up with the idea of numbering their show’s Black listeners, thinking that actual black listeners would be few and far between.  Well, Bad Dog received a big surprise.

The routine became very popular among Memphis’  Black Community, as people called in to talk to Bad Dog.  He would make up a hilarious “oath” for the listener to say, and from then on, whenever this individual would call in to talk about the subject of the day, they would self-identify as Black Listener Number So-and-So.  Everyone loved Bad Dog.

However, the most incredible thing that this man accomplished during his time with us started when he, Spencer, and Hart decided to begin a yearly Radiothon in support of St. Jude Hospital’s Ronald McDonald House.

Over the last 20 years, Bad Dog and his co-workers have raised over $7 million dollars to help build and maintain the refuge for cancer-stricken kids and their families, so they could have some semblance of normal life while they undergo treatment at St. Jude.

Bad Dog McCormack was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia in late October 2009.  He was still working mornings, though his new partner was Ric Chetter.  Clear Channel Communications, in their infinite wisdom, had split up the popular Wake Up Crew in November of 2006, firing Newsperson Bev Hart, and, eventually moving Rock 103 Program Director Tim Spencer to mid-days.

Bad Dog continued to work as he underwent treatment, as he felt that this was the best medicine for him and was what God had called him to do.  His courage in the face of his own mortality was an inspiration to the entire Mid-South, as his barrel-house laugh continued to reverberate through the car speakers of the Mid-South every morning.  He also continued to work the annual Rock103 Radiothon, letting nothing stand in his way of helping the kids.

Bad Dog underwent a bone marrow transplant in November of 2010.  He seemed to be doing better, and, in December, an online poll of Memphians voted him The Most Noteworthy Memphian of the Year.

On February 10-11th, Bad Dog was at the mic, around the clock, for the 20th Annual Rock103 Radiothon.  When it was over, he announced that more Leukemia had been found.  He remained upbeat, and said that this was just par for the course.

Meanwhile, Clear Channel Communications, again in its infinite wisdom, fired Ric Chetter, and moved Bad Dog and Tim Spencer to afternoons, while bringing in a morning show named Free Beer and Hot Wings, 5 guys syndicated out of the Great White North, whose humor about hockey games is about as relevant to the Mid-South as hunting moose. [The program bombed miserably.]

Bad Dog took this change in his usual good-natured stride, happy to be back with his old partner-in-crime, Tim.

Then, last Thursday, Bad Dog took a turn for the worse.  He was rushed to Methodist University Hospital in Downtown Memphis, where he passed away from an aneurysm, brought about by his Leukemia.

In an interview with the Commercial Appeal, Bad Dog made this comment about his battle against Leukemia and his love for the kids at St. Jude:

When I see what they are going through, I have no reason to complain. They are so young and have so much pain. I’ve lived a blessed life. If I died tomorrow, I’d go with a smile on my face.

He also, in his usual big-hearted, gentle way, left a statement to be released after his death:

I have gone to be with God and he is holding me tightly and I am surrounded by many of the Ronald McDonald’s House kids. Do not say you have lost a friend… One is only lost when you don’t know where they are… you know where I am. I thank each and every one of you for your support and prayers. I love all of you and that will never go away. When you are having a bad day… think of my laugh or a Twilight phone or the time we met. None of us is guaranteed tomorrow, make every day great, be the spiritual leader of your family. May peace be with you. Your friend, Bad Dog.

John”Bad Dog” McCormack, 55,  leaves behind his two sons, Buck and Tucker, a huge family, and thousands of fans.

As one of those fans, please allow me to say thank you, Bad Dog, for brightening up a lot of dreary mornings.

A sign currently [now 6 years ago] on display outside  a local jewelry store says it all:

BAD DOG MADE MEMPHIS A BETTER PLACE.

Chicago and Memphis Set New Homicide Records in 2016. What’s the Answer?

chicago-murder-rate

You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time… It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience. – Ronald Reagan

Foxnews.com reports that

The city of Chicago recorded 762 homicides in 2016 — an average of two murders per day, the most killings in the city for two decades and more than New York and Los Angeles combined.

The nation’s third largest city also saw 1,100 more shooting incidents than it did in 2015, according to statistics released by the Chicago Police Department that underlined a story of bloodshed that has put Chicago at the center of a national dialogue about gun violence.

The numbers released Sunday are staggering, even for those following the steady news accounts of weekends ending with dozens of shootings and monthly death tolls that hadn’t been seen in years. The increase in 2016 homicides compared to 2015, when 485 were reported, is the largest spike in 60 years.

Police and city officials have lamented the flood of illegal guns into the city, and the crime statistics appeared to support their claims: Police recovered 8,300 illegal guns in 2015, a 20 percent from the previous year.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said during a news conference Sunday that Chicago is among many U.S. cities that have seek a spike in violence, including in attacks on police. He said anger at police, including in the wake of video released that showed a white Chicago officer shooting a black teenager 16 times, has left criminals “emboldened” to violent crimes.

He also said it’s becoming clearer to criminals that they have little to fear from the criminal justice system.

“In Chicago, we just don’t have a deterrent to pick up a gun,” he said. “Any time a guy stealing a loaf of bread spends more time pre-trial in jail than a gun offender, something is wrong.”

The bulk of the deaths and shooting incidents, which jumped from 2,426 in 2015 to 3,550 last year, occurred in only five neighborhoods on the city’s South and West sides, all poor and predominantly black areas where gangs are most active. Police said the shootings in those areas generally wasn’t random, with more than 80 percent of the victims having previously been identified by police as more susceptible because of their gang ties or past arrests.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was expected to discuss the newly released statistics Sunday afternoon.

The city has scrambled to address the violence. Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced last year that 1,000 officers would be added to the police department. At the same time, police officials have been trying to figure out why homicides and shootings — which began climbing the year before — suddenly surged.

Johnson has said several factors contributed to the increased violence. He noted 2016 was the first full year since the city was forced in November 2015 to release video of the fatal police shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who was black and shot 16 times by a white police officer. The video cost former Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy his job, sparked major protests around the city, and led to federal and state investigations of the department.

It also left Johnson with the task of trying to restore public trust in what appeared to be a weakened police force, a perception that was only buttressed by a dramatic drop in the number of arrests in 2016.

While the police department has cited several factors for the declining numbers, including a concerted effort not to make minor drug arrests and focus on gun violence, Johnson acknowledged in a recent interview with The Associated Press that officers have become more cautious — in part out of fear of becoming the next “viral video.”

That, he said, has “emboldened” criminals.

“Criminals watch TV, pay attention to the media,” he said. “They see an opportunity to commit nefarious activity.”

Gee. Ya think?

Meanwhile, in my hometown, the Former “City of Good Abode”…

Memphis set a grim record with 228 homicides in 2016, eclipsing by 15 killings the previous record of 213 set in 1993.

The year began with the shooting death of 49-year-old Patrick Couch, who was killed in the driveway of a home on South Fourth Street just before 3 p.m. on New Year’s Day 2016. That was one of 10 murders in the first 13 days of the year, establishing the record-setting pace that just never let up.

The year ended with the shooting death of an unidentified man just before 11 a.m. Saturday at Saxon and Cummings in South Memphis. No arrests have been made, police said.

Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings was unavailable for comment Sunday, MPD spokesman Karen Rudolph said. Messages left for Mayor Jim Strickland were not returned. Strickland campaigned for mayor on the promise of crime reduction, but the city’s escalating homicide total has made that promise difficult to achieve.

“Our homicide rate has taken this tragic, shameful spike. It is the crime that the police are least able to control. It is on all of us, in our homes, our neighborhoods, and our churches, to do better,” Strickland said in a recent statement.

Throughout his Presidency, Barack Hussein Obama has issued Executive Orders aimed at limited the Second Amendment Rights of Americans Citizens, in an effort to “curb gun violence”

An Executive Order, sometimes known as a proclamation, is a directive handed down directly from the President of the United States without input from the legislative or judicial branches. Executive orders can only be given to federal or state agencies, not to citizens, even though we wind up bearing the brunt of them.

Executive Orders go all the way back to our first president, George Washington. Presidents have used them to lead the nation through times of war, to respond to natural disasters and economic crises, to encourage or to limit regulation by federal agencies, to promote civil rights, or in the case of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, to set up Japanese internment camps, in order to revoke Civil Rights.

The problem with Obama’s issuing Executive orders to “curb gun violence” is clearly demonstrated in the above article about the escalation of homicides in Chicago in 2016.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

And yet, people are still shooting one another.

Which proves the old saying,

If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.

Have you ever watched a mother, when their toddler bumps their head on a table, attempt to distract their child, by pretending to spank the table, while saying, “Bad Table”?

That, in a nutshell, is what President Barack Hussein Obama has attempted to do by writing Executive Orders, in an attempt to limit the Constitutional Right of American Citizens to own guns.

By creating new restrictions, instead of enforcing gun laws which are already in place, Obama is shifting the blame from those who operate outside of the law to America and her citizens.

Obama is attempting to control law-abiding American Citizens, instead of punishing those who operate outside of our laws, such as the thugs who have turned Obama’s “hometown” of Chicago and my hometown of Memphis into their own personal “Killing Fields”.

If President Barack Hussein Obama had his way, we would live in a country comprised of restrictive gun laws, which would be modeled after those in Europe. And, as past  events have plainly shown, those restrictive gun laws have allowed Islamic Terrorists to kill innocent people unchallenged, because none of those innocent people were allowed to carry a weapon with which to defend themselves.

Like Dr. Franklin and the rest of those who have fought for our freedom, average Americans realize what the president does not.

The problem in cities like Chicago and Memphis is not that there are not enough gun laws. The problem is the gun laws on the books are not properly enforced.

The dissolution of the Black Family Unit and the revolving door state of our Municipal Justice Systems have a lot to do with the rise of homicides in those Metropolitan areas, as well.

But, that’s a subject for another post.

Passing more restrictive gun laws is not the answer.

After all, have you ever seen a gun pull its own trigger?

Until He Comes,
