The Baltimore Riot and the Dissolution of the Black Family Unit

Riot-Space-600-LIYesterday, Black Economist and Conservative Pundit, Dr. Thomas Sowell, wrote the following perceptive (as usual) column about the Racial Division which America is currently facing.

Among the many painful ironies in the current racial turmoil is that communities scattered across the country were disrupted by riots and looting because of the demonstrable lie that Michael Brown was shot in the back by a white policeman in Missouri — but there was not nearly as much turmoil created by the demonstrable fact that a fleeing black man was shot dead by a white policeman in South Carolina.

Totally ignored was the fact that a black policeman in Alabama fatally shot an unarmed white teenager, and was cleared of any charges, at about the same time that a white policeman was cleared of charges in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown.

In a world where the truth means so little, and headstrong preconceptions seem to be all that matter, what hope is there for rational words or rational behavior, much less mutual understanding across racial lines?

When the recorded fatal shooting of a fleeing man in South Carolina brought instant condemnation by whites and blacks alike, and by the most conservative as well as the most liberal commentators, that moment of mutual understanding was very fleeting, as if mutual understanding were something to be avoided, as a threat to a vision of “us against them” that was more popular.

That vision is nowhere more clearly expressed than in attempts to automatically depict whatever social problems exist in ghetto communities as being caused by the sins or negligence of whites, whether racism in general or a “legacy of slavery” in particular. Like most emotionally powerful visions, it is seldom, if ever, subjected to the test of evidence.

The “legacy of slavery” argument is not just an excuse for inexcusable behavior in the ghettos. In a larger sense, it is an evasion of responsibility for the disastrous consequences of the prevailing social vision of our times, and the political policies based on that vision, over the past half century.

Anyone who is serious about evidence need only compare black communities as they evolved in the first 100 years after slavery with black communities as they evolved in the first 50 years after the explosive growth of the welfare state, beginning in the 1960s.

You would be hard-pressed to find as many ghetto riots prior to the 1960s as we have seen just in the past year, much less in the 50 years since a wave of such riots swept across the country in 1965.

We are told that such riots are a result of black poverty and white racism. But in fact — for those who still have some respect for facts — black poverty was far worse, and white racism was far worse, prior to 1960. But violent crime within black ghettos was far less.

Murder rates among black males were going down — repeat, DOWN — during the much lamented 1950s, while it went up after the much celebrated 1960s, reaching levels more than double what they had been before. Most black children were raised in two-parent families prior to the 1960s. But today the great majority of black children are raised in one-parent families.

Such trends are not unique to blacks, nor even to the United States. The welfare state has led to remarkably similar trends among the white underclass in England over the same period. Just read “Life at the Bottom,” by Theodore Dalrymple, a British physician who worked in a hospital in a white slum neighborhood.

You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization — including work, behavioral standards, personal responsibility and all the other basic things that the clever intelligentsia disdain — without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Non-judgmental subsidies of counterproductive lifestyles are treating people as if they were livestock, to be fed and tended by others in a welfare state — and yet expecting them to develop as human beings have developed when facing the challenges of life themselves.

One key fact that keeps getting ignored is that the poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits every year since 1994. Behavior matters and facts matter, more than the prevailing social visions or political empires built on those visions. [Emphasis mine.]

Amen, Dr. Sowell.

When that single black mother beat the snot out of her teenage son on national televison, grabbing him by his hoodie and pulling him away from the rioters in Baltimore, a week ago last Monday, she had the overwhelming majority of Americans backing her actions.

Lyndon Baines Johnson told Americans, as he campaigned in 1964, that the establishment of his proposed “Great Society” was going to eliminate the problems of America’s poor.

It had the opposite effect.

Johnson’s Great Society created a dependent class, which, instead of diminishing as it’s members joined the workforce, increased from generation to generation, relying on the federal government to provide their every need.

“Uncle Sugar” became Mother, Father, Preacher, and Doctor to generations of Americans. This “plantation mentality” continues to this day, thanks to Liberal Politicians on both sides of the political aisle.

However, there are other factors among the Black American Community that reinforces this vicious cycle of Generational Poverty and Crime, which has become seemingly inescapable for some.

Back in July of 2013, CNN Reporter Don Lemon (who happens to be black) caught a bunch of grief for saying,

Just because you can have a baby, it doesn’t mean you should. Especially without planning for one or getting married first. More than 72 percent of children in the African-American community are born out of wedlock. That means absent fathers. And the studies show that lack of a male role model is an express train right to prison and the cycle continues.

Politifact.com researched the statement and found out that Lemon was correct. As of the 2010 Census, Black American Babies were experiencing a 73% illegitimacy rate.

If Modern American Liberals, both black and white, Democrat and Republican, in Municipal, State, and National Leadership Positions, would focus their angst and “concern” on the society-altering, continuing dissolution of the Black Family Unit, which their policies have most definitely exacerbated, and work instead toward the restoration of the Black Family Unit, instead of facilitating rioting over the deaths of criminals, perhaps the stifling defeatism of the cycle of Generational Poverty and Crime, and the violence it brings, would eventually be a thing of the past, or greatly diminished, anyway.

Then, I wouldn’t be awakened every morning, by the Local News in Memphis, to stories about Black Americans killing each other, or mobs of Black Teenagers beating up innocent people.

But, then again…that would make too much sense.

Majority of Americans Believe Obama is Dishonest.

 

Peace-our-Time-600-LAI have never been a good liar.

Number 1…I wasn’t raised that way. Number 2…when I tried to get by with it as a kid, my mother whupped me (Southern colloquialism for “delivered disciplinary punishment”) on the back of my legs with a yardstick. I swear, to this day, the back of my legs read 4…5…6…

However, the President of the United States does not have that problem.

Most voters believe the United States is the best country in the world.  Far fewer of them believe Barack Obama agrees, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday. 

The new poll also finds the numbers saying Obama is patriotic, honest or a strong leader have all declined in the past few years. 

More Americans feel they love the United States than think Obama does: 83 percent think the U.S. is the greatest country in the world. Just 64 percent believe Obama feels the same way.

The difference in the two perceptions is mainly partisan: 90 percent of Republicans think the U.S. is the best, while only 42 percent believe the president agrees. Among Democrats, 82 percent feel this is the greatest nation, and even more — 88 percent — believe Obama feels that.

Those who are most likely to feel the U.S. is the best nation in the world include voters over age 65 (93 percent) as well as Republicans (90 percent).  Those least likely to feel that way include voters who identify with the Tea Party movement (79 percent), self-identified independents (73 percent) and voters under age 35 (71 percent).

Overall, 54 percent of voters say Obama is patriotic, yet that’s down from 60 percent who felt that way in 2011.  Again, party identification matters:  the number of Republicans today who think the president is patriotic is down six percentage points from 2011, among independents it’s down four points and for Democrats it’s down one. 

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani caused an uproar in February by questioning whether Barack Obama loves America.  The poll shows 42 percent of voters nationally think there are “legitimate reasons to doubt” whether Obama loves America.  That includes 66 percent of Republicans, 42 percent of independents and 17 percent of Democrats.

Fewer voters than ever before see Obama as honest: a record-low 43 percent.  And for the first time since 2007, a majority, 54 percent, disagrees that the president is “honest.”

Three-quarters of Democrats currently think Obama is honest (75 percent), while just 39 percent of independents and 15 percent of Republicans say the same.

For comparison, in 2011 some 57 percent of voters described Obama as honest.  That included 86 percent of Democrats, 53 percent of independents and 26 percent of Republicans. 

The poll also finds 43 percent of voters think Obama is a “strong leader.”  That’s down from a high of 60 percent who said he was a “strong and decisive” leader in 2009.

Of the four traits tested, Obama does best on “caring,” as 60 percent of voters feel that describes him.  Although there’s been a decline here too: 68 percent said Obama was “caring” in 2011.

The Fox News poll is conducted by telephone with live interviewers under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R).  The 1,011 registered voters were reached via landline and cell phone numbers randomly selected for inclusion in this nationwide survey from March 1-3, 2015.  The full poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.

Americans have noticed that there is a great disconnect between the citizens of the United States and their president. It’s not just his stand-offish behavior. There’s something else going on. He was not raised like the majority of Americans.

He didn’t have rubber dart gun wars in the neighborhood backyards. He didn’t play Nerf football in the front yards. He didn’t go to Vacation Bible School. I don’t know if he was ever told to stand with his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.

It is this disconnect that is at the heart of the trouble with Obama’s presidency. Hope and Change have turned into despair and disbelief. Obama has never understood the shared values of average Americans, because the people who raised him did not share those values, either. It is the concern that we feel for one another, that shared American value system, that is causing a great awakening. One of the main reasons Obama wants control of the internet is so we can’t communicate with each other and he can control the message.

His obvious affinity for and trust of the Radical Followers of Mohammed is another reason that he has earned Americans’ distrust.

Have you ever wondered why they have kept the president’s early days of childhood and growing up so secretive?

If you will read what has gotten out to the public, you will understand. He wasn’t raised like you and me. His mother, shall we politely say, was a free spirit. After young Mr. Obama’s dad ran away, his mom married a fellow by the last name of Soetoro, who took them home with him to Indonesia, where young Barry attended a Muslim school for wealthy citizens’ children.

While at the Madrassa, Barry learned a great many things, including the Muslim practice of Taqiyya.

The word “Taqiyya” literally means: “Concealing, precaution, guarding.” It is employed in disguising one’s beliefs, intentions, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions or strategies. In practical terms it is manifested as dissimulation, lying, deceiving, vexing and confounding with the intention of deflecting attention, foiling or pre-emptive blocking.

It is currently employed in fending off and neutralizing any criticism of Islam or Muslims.

To summarize, in approximately 240 years of existence, the United States of America has gone from having a president who could not tell a lie to having a president who cannot tell the truth.

Panetta Ponders Presidential Priority Problem

AFBrancoObamaPanetta1072014Clintonista Leon Panetta is making the rounds of the talk shows, hawking his new tell – all book detailing the goings-on inside the Obama White House.

According to the Former Secretary of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief has a Priority Problem.

Breitbart.com reports that

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta declared President Barack Obama’s approach to be like a law professor, however without the aspect of rolling up his sleeves and to get the job done.
Instead he suggested Obama has given up.

Panetta said, “He [Obama] approaches things like a law professor in presenting a logic of his position. There is nothing wrong with that. We want to have a president who thinks through the issues. My experience in Washington is that logic alone doesn’t work. Once you lay out a position, you are going to roll up your sleeves and you have to fight to get it done. That is key in Washington. In order for presidents to succeed, they cannot just — when they run into problems, step back and give up.”

“There is a feeling and I have a feeling that the leadership and the president have given up on the big issues facing this country whether it’s immigration or a budget deal or infrastructure funding or trade or energy. there is a sense that you can’t deal with that. This country needs that. They can’t give up.”

Don’t Worry. Even though the world is out-of-control, everything’s just breezy with the Preezy. And, as long as he has himself, he will never be alone.

At a DNC fundraiser today, President Barack Obama voiced a concern many Americans might now have. “[T]here’s a sense possibly that the world is spinning so fast and nobody is able to control it,” Obama told Democrats at the White Street Restaurant in New York, New York.

But Obama suggested that he has things under control.

I was here in New York just a couple weeks ago — you noticed the traffic was even worse then — during the United Nations General Assembly annual gathering of world leaders. And it’s appropriate to talk a little bit on the front end about why this particular General Assembly was so indicative of America’s position in the world. There are times where I think in this country we doubt ourselves, and there are times when we’re uncertain of all the changes that are taking place all across the globe. And understandably, when you see the headlines every single day and you read about ISIS and Ebola and the Russian incursions into Ukraine, there’s a sense possibly that the world is spinning so fast and nobody is able to control it.

And yet if you look at what happened at the General Assembly on the terrorist group ISIS and the need to mobilize an international community to push back against their radical violence, it was the United States that mobilized that coalition both in the Middle East and around the world.

When you look at Ebola, a humanitarian crisis in West Africa, but also a public health crisis that has the possibility of affecting people around the world, it was the United States that is committed to building the infrastructure that allows health workers to get in and start saving lives and making sure that children aren’t dying on the streets.

When it came to blunting Russian aggression, it was the United States that mobilized NATO countries and the world community to stand up for the principle that people are independent and have the ability to make their own decisions about their own lives and to seek freedom and prosperity on their own terms.
The commander in chief continued:

On climate change, it was the United States that led the way in continuing to mobilize the world community to reduce carbon emissions that are going to affect our kids and our grandchildren.

On every single issue of importance, when there are challenges and there are opportunities around the world, it’s not Moscow they call; it’s not Beijing. They call us. Because they understand that for all the challenges we sometimes face and the mistakes that we occasionally make, that America continues to be the one indispensable nation — (applause) — and that what we stand for –– liberty and democracy and conservation and fairness and justice — those are the things that people around the world aspire to and seek, and they expect the United States to be on their side.

And that’s something we can be very proud of. It’s a burden. It means we do more than anybody else. We’re asked to respond even by folks who are critical of us. People don’t always appreciate the work that we do. But in the end, it’s a burden that we bear proudly because it’s part of what makes us American, and it’s part of what that lady with the torch in the middle of the water means. It’s part of what attracts people from every corner of the globe to this country, understanding that for all our flaws there’s something essential that we stand for that nobody else does, and we’re willing to put our money and time and effort and resources and occasionally our lives on behalf of that.

Well gosh, boys and girls. Don’t you feel better already?

And since the world is Obama’s oyster, that gives him time to take care of what’s really #1 on his Priority List.

President Obama is participating in his 56th fundraiser of 2014, Republicans note, as his fading popularity limits his ability to support Democratic candidates otherwise.

“Today Obama is doing three fundraisers to help Democrats running in the midterms, which brings his total to 56 this year,” Republican National Committee spokesman Raffi Williams points out. “This is interesting given that Senate Democrats are running from him and his policies every chance they get. With Obama’s toxic approval ratings it’s not surprising that vulnerable Democrats want to hide how indebted to Obama they are if they get reelected.”

The fundraisers “will take place in private, sparing the candidates on the ballot from a presidential photo op that could wind up in a Republican campaign ad,” according to the Associated Press.

The RNC list of Obama’s fundraisers shows that he has helped the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Governors’ Association. He has also raised money for Senate majority leader Harry Reid’s super PAC, the Senate Majority PAC. Reid’s group is “the biggest spending super PAC by far,” according to NPR.

It’s unsurprising that Obama is raising money for his party, but the Democrats’ dependence on a financial advantage this cycle puts candidates who are avoiding Obama in an awkward spot. They don’t want him around, but they need the money he raises.

“President Obama’s name is not on the ballot and on Election Day I won’t owe President Obama anything,” Representative Bruce Braley(D., Iowa) said, for instance, during his first Senate debate with Republican opponent Joni Ernst.

Priorities matter.

Our nation was built on the backs of leaders. American men and women who saw what needed to be done to ensure the continuance of our liberty…and, they went out and did it.

These leaders included Mother and Fathers, who took responsibility for themselves , their relationship, and their children…including handling the important parental task of guiding and disciplining those young lives, whom they were responsible for.

As I have written before, I am the son of members of the Greatest Generation, those who sacrificed to keep their families together and our country strong and free.

To this day, you can see “4…5…6…” on the back of my legs from my mother’s yardstick.

But, I digress…

Even “public servants”, back in the day” took the responsibility of their jobs very seriously, from the local dog catcher to the President of the United States.

Everybody “took care of business”, even the Leader of the Free World, as Harry Truman reminded us, with a sign sitting on his desk, which read,

The Buck Stops Here.

…as opposed to the sign which sits on our current President’s desk in the Oval Office, which reads,

It’s Not My Fault!

For America to reclaim our rightful place, as the Greatest Country on God’s Green Earth, it is going to take LEADERSHIP…

An attribute which the current president severely lacks.

Obama does not understand…

From Detroit to Memphis: A Problem of Stewardship

monopoly2The city of Detroit filed bankruptcy this past week. Are they a harbinger of things to come?

Detroit may be alone among the nation’s biggest cities in terms of filing for bankruptcy, but it is far from the only city being crushed by a roiling mountain of long-term debt.

At the heart of Detroit’s problem is a growing unfunded debt on benefits owed to current and future retirees — some $3.5 billion, according to its emergency manager, Kevyn Orr — which mirrors a circumstance being seen across the U.S.

From Baltimore to Los Angeles, and many points in between, municipalities are increasingly confronted with how to pay for these massive promises. The Pew Center for the States, in Washington, estimated states’ public pension plans across the U.S. were underfunded by a whopping $1.4 trillion in 2010.

For years, watchdog groups and public-sector analysts have warned of the threat posed by unfunded liabilities. Much like the legacy pension costs that weighed on Detroit’s automakers before the Chrysler and General Motors restructurings of 2009, the worry is that revenues can’t keep up with growing debt and that rosy predictions for market returns downplay the actual financial risk.

As examples of the results: Chicago recently saw its credit rating downgraded because of a $19-billion unfunded pension liability that the ratings service Moody’s puts closer to $36 billion. And Los Angeles could be facing a liability of more than $30 billion, by some estimates.

It’s no surprise — given the pressure public pensions are putting on municipal budgets — that any move to ease those liabilities, especially through a bankruptcy court order like what’s happening in Detroit, is being watched carefully nationwide by state and municipal officials, union leaders, bond traders and retirees.

“We’re just at the front of the line here,” Michigan Treasurer Andy Dillon said Friday. “It could be a landmark case.”

One of those cities who are having money problems is my hometown of Memphis, TN. However, just like the Egyptian city it’s named after, Memphis’s Leadership is in denial (Get it? That’s a pun, son.)

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. is rejecting comparisons between his financially challenged city and Detroit, the largest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy.

Wharton told reporters Friday he reluctantly called a news conference to address questions about Memphis ending up like Detroit, which filed for bankruptcy this week. He said Memphis is not in denial about its financial challenges, but stressed that they are not as bad as the Michigan city.

“I’ve gotten a number of questions and they just get straight to the bottom line of, ‘Well, is Memphis like Detroit?” Wharton said. “My initial reaction was to say ‘I’m not going to dignify it by starting to try to make that kind of comparison.'”

He added: “I do hurt for what has happened in Detroit. This is not a time for piling on and saying how bad they are. After all, it’s not a government that will suffer. It will be citizens that will suffer.”

In June, Memphis received a letter from the state comptroller that warned the city about its practice of delaying debt payments year after year. Comptroller Justin Wilson said failure to address long-term debt could lead to state action.

Wilson also said the city needed to deal with low fund reserves, a shrinking tax base and budgetary imbalance.

The City Council passed a budget in June that addressed long-term debt payments, fund reserves and other concerns. Still, the state continues to keep a close eye on Memphis’ finances.

Wharton said it is frustrating to be compared with Detroit, whose situation has been blamed on a long, slow decline in population and auto manufacturing. He said Memphis $2.2 billion city pension plan is adequately funded, and recent changes in the pension systems will make them more manageable.

Wharton said Detroit was “basically a one-industry town.”

“When the auto industry went down, Detroit went down,” he said. “Fortunately, we have a diverse economy” that includes manufacturing, tourism and the health care industry, he said.

Wharton said Memphis is doing a good job of attracting new businesses. Large companies such as Electrolux and Mitsubishi Electric agreed to build factories in Memphis, though they were lured to the area by large tax incentives.

Memphis, a city of about 650,000, has seen population decline by about 3,000 since the 2000 Census. Its unemployment rate in April was 10.3 percent, compared with 16 percent in Detroit, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Memphis also has been beset by home foreclosures and a relatively high poverty rate that have caused blight in several parts of the city. Crime also has been a problem.

Wharton says Memphis is the only city facing financial and social challenges.

“What makes a difference between this city, Memphis, and others, is that we recognize it, we’re straight up-front about it,” Wharton said.

Uh huh.

Several years ago, Former Mayor W.W. Herenton , during a push to raise taxes, injected race into the matter, as he always did, and told Memphis’ White Citizens that, if they did not like the absurdly high tax rate, that they should leave town.

And, sure enough, we did.

Both Detroit, and my beloved hometown of Memphis, have been gutted by decades of poor financial stewardship, brought about by Democratic Leadership, who never saw a dollar they couldn’t spend, or a relative or friend that they couldn’t give a job with the city to.

And now, Detroit has filed for Bankruptcy, and Memphis is struggling with its budget, and sparring with the police and fire unions, who are justifiably concerned about the future of their pension plans.

And, what is amazing to me, the Mayor and City Council act like they don’t know why this is happening.

Let’s see, you raised taxes on the people who pay your “public servant” salaries, you then tell them to leave town, and you expand your municipal government to the size of a small city.

Gosh, Memphis, Detroit..where did all that money go?

From Flower Children to Beltway Boys: America’s Crisis of Leadership

1960sI remember the 1960s…vaguely. After all, I was just a kid, having been born in 1958. I remember Batman, Mr. Terrific, Beany and Cecil, The Red Skelton Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Lawrence Welk Show, Dragnet, and Adam-12.

I remember the Civil Rights Movement, George Wallace, the Vietnam War, Camelot, and shaking ex-President Lyndon B. Johnson’s hand, after a speech at his Texas Ranch. It seemed huge.

I remember the Beatles,the Monkees, the Rolling Stones, Woodstock, Haight Asbury, the Peace Movement, Love-ins, and Campus sit-ins. I remember Kent State.

I remember Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Willette, Mrs. Holder, Mrs. Archer, Principal F.A Farino, and some of the things that happened to me at Snowden Elementary.

I also remember the day that it was announced over the school intercom that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. I remember writing in my Big Chief Tablet

President Kennedy is dead. Vice-President Johnson is now President.

I remember that fateful night in April of 1968, watching TV in our den in Midtown Memphis, TN, as the Civil Defense Warning popped up on the screen, and an authoritative voice said,

Would all National Guard members, please report to the Armory.

Shortly, after that, President Johnson interrupted programming, coming from the White House, and announced,

I come to you tonight with a heavy heart…

And, nothing was ever the same again.

In yesterday’s Blog, I posed the question,

What in the Sam Hill is going on in this country?

I then wrote about how screwed up our leadership is, and how disheartening it is to see this Shining City on the Hill being turned into a Third World Barrio, right in front of our very eyes.

What could be the cause? Have the Pod People from the Invasion of the Body Snatchers taken over America’s Leadership?

Actually, in a way…they have.

Today’s Senior leadership is comprised of that volatile generation from the 1960s. That generation in which there was seemingly, widespread rebellion against their faith, their families, and…their country.

For all their bragging about Free Love, dropping out, and tuning in…a lot of them were actually very selfish. (History is actually repeating itself with our younger generation of today, but that’s best left for another post.)

That is the generation that is presently in charge of our nation.

What’s bad is, our Junior Leadership is comprised of their children, Americans with names like Sunshine and River, whose raising was left to Dr. Spock, PBS, and MTV.

So, basically, we have a bunch of elected representatives whose life philosophy is

If it feels good, do it.

The Bible tells us that you will know someone by their fruits.

Let’s look at “the fruits” put forth by this bunch of leaders

1.  Horrible Financial Stewardship – We’re in hock to the Chinese so badly, they’re probably going to start adopting OUR babies. We have a President who is cutting essential services, like hot meals for our soldiers, while his mooch of a wife is joking about visiting her “Homeland” in Ireland. Now, I’ve been told by an Irishman that my heritage is “Black Irish”, but, that’s ridiculous. Congress hasn’t passed a budget in years now, but nobody seems to care. Hey, it’s only money. OUR money.

2. Attempts to take away Americans’ Constitutional Rights – This is actually very ironic, when you think about it. These “Flower Children”, who used to holler about their Constitutional Rights as they were being busted by the police, now could care less about them.  A little power is a dangerous thing. They’re “The Man” now.

3.  Debasing and Redefining of the American Family – Now, in this amoral utopia they are creating, Johnny has 2 Daddies, or 2 Mommas, or a Momma and another Momma who used to be their Daddy….or just a Momma…or just a Daddy…or, they’re being raised by Grandma and Grandpa. And, then, the “pundits” wonder why kids are joining Gangs, seeking “love and acceptance”.

4. Attempting to eliminate Christianity from Americans’ day-to-day lives – From complaining about prayer before high school football games to lawsuits about the Ten Commandments being in Courthouses, the miserable selfish little cretins, who seem content to serve the Darkness, are relentless in their quest to remove the public worship of the One who made us, from Americans’ daily lives. They want to pigeon-hole Christians and force us to worship Our Creator on Sunday Mornings, only, and only then, in government-approved services, where preachers will not be allowed to condemn homosexuality as a sin.

In America today, we are experiencing the Tyranny of the Minority. Average Americans, who love God, their families, and their country, still exist. They are trying desperately to try to make things better for their families. That is the reason that a recent study showed that Americans are leaving the Liberal stronghold of the Northeast and the Left Coast, seeking like minds in America’s Heartland.

There are still plenty of Americans who believe in Traditional American Values. They go to work, they attend church, and they spend time with their families. Despite the enormous pressure put upon them by an increasingly selfish, amoral culture, an anti-American President, and his enablers and minions in Congress and the Main Stream Media, they still “bitterly cling” to their Bibles and guns, remembering those who have gone before, and the sacrifices at home and abroad they made to keep them free.

Can you feel it? There is a stirring in the heart of this nation. The Sleeping Giant is wide awake. Americans have had enough.

The great American Frontiersman, Congressman, and Freedom Fighter, Davy Crockett, once said,

Be sure you are right. Then, go ahead.

We are right, Americans. It’s time to go ahead.

A Matter of Leadership

obamaOSUYesterday, President Barack Obama gave the commencement address to the graduating class of Ohio State University at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

During his speech, he said,

Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They’ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.

We have never been a people who place all our faith in government to solve our problems. We shouldn’t want to. But we don’t think the government is the source of all our problems, either. Because we understand that this democracy is ours. And as citizens, we understand that it’s not about what America can do for us, it’s about what can be done by us, together, through the hard and frustrating but absolutely necessary work of self-government. And class of 2013, you have to be involved in that process.

Let’s translate this, shall we?

 Don’t believe the haters. They are just jealous of my wonderful plan to radically change America into a Socialist paradise, where we will “share the wealth”…

“From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” Do not pay attention to the new media. Instead, hang on every word of my friends in the Main Stream Media. After all, the truth is highly overrated. 

This is not a sovereign nation , established by Christian men seeking Freedom of Religion, through an escape from tyranny. The Constitution is not relevant anymore. It is a fluid, changing document, subject to revision, in order to keep up with changing cultural mores, and the political plans of the present Administration. America is not the “shining city on a hill”. It is an “experiment”, And, You are all my lab rats.

Trust me and my Administration. We are smarter than every other American Administration in history. Working in the Dog Eat Dog Capitalist System is is for the birds. Come and work  for our ever-growing Federal Government. or, better yet, become a part of  “the 47%”. Baracky Claus knows what’s best for you. 

Now, compare what Obama told those young people, full of hope and potential, to these excerpts from Ronald Reagan’s famous speech, “A Time for Choosing”, given as a stump speech, at speaking engagements, and on a memorable night in 1964 in support of Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign:

It’s time we asked ourselves if we still know the freedoms intended for us by the Founding Fathers. James Madison said, “We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self government.”

This idea — that government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power — is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man’s age-old dream–the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order — or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, “The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits.”

The Founding Fathers knew a government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.

Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, “What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power.” But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector.

Yet any time you and I question the schemes of the do-gooders, we’re denounced as being opposed to their humanitarian goals. It seems impossible to legitimately debate their solutions with the assumption that all of us share the desire to help the less fortunate. They tell us we’re always “against,” never “for” anything.

…Are you willing to spend time studying the issues, making yourself aware, and then conveying that information to family and friends? Will you resist the temptation to get a government handout for your community? Realize that the doctor’s fight against socialized medicine is your fight. We can’t socialize the doctors without socializing the patients. Recognize that government invasion of public power is eventually an assault upon your own business. If some among you fear taking a stand because you are afraid of reprisals from customers, clients, or even government, recognize that you are just feeding the crocodile hoping he’ll eat you last.

If all of this seems like a great deal of trouble, think what’s at stake. We are faced with the most evil enemy mankind has known in his long climb from the swamp to the stars. There can be no security anywhere in the free world if there is no fiscal and economic stability within the United States. Those who ask us to trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state are architects of a policy of accommodation.

They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. Winston Churchill said that “the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits–not animals.” And he said, “There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

Obama’s speech to those O.S.U Graduates was disingenuous, given his Presidential Track Record of Executive Orders, signing unwanted bills into laws against the wishes of the American People, and his self-centered temper tantrums we have witnessed when things do not go his way. Contrast that with the marvelous, uplifting oratory of Ronald Reagan, an American Leader who spoke of a hopeful future, of American Freedom,Entrepreneurship,and Exceptionalism, and of the courage and worth of average Americans.

I wish we had a leader like Ronald Reagan, today.
