Duck Dynasty, A & E, and Liberal Hypocrisy

duck dynastyThe Leader of the hottest Reality Show in America, a self-made millionaire, has been, at least temporarily, taken off of the show he helped build into a ratings Dynamo. His crime?He identified homosexuality as a sin.

The Hollywood Reporter has the story:

A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” A&E said in a statement. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with the magazine. He’ll likely appear in season four, which bows Jan. 15, since production is largely wrapped.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson says in the January issue of the men’s magazine. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

During a discussion about repentance and God, Robertson is asked what he finds sinful.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there,” he says. “Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

He goes on to paraphrase Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

GLAAD on Wednesday condemned his remarks as “some of the vilest and most extreme statements uttered against LGBT people in a mainstream publication” and said “his quote was littered with outdated stereotypes and blatant misinformation.”

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe,” GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz said. “He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans — and Americans — who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors, who now need to re-examine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

Let’s examine exactly what Commander Phil said. He called homosexuality a sin…because it is.

Concerning the quote from the Bible that Commander Phil was paraphrasing, it reads the following way, in the original King James Version:

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. – 1 Corinthians 6: 9 – 10

He spoke his mind…based on the tenets of his faith.

Of course, Commander Phil’s remarks offended the always politically-correct Liberals, otherwise known as the Gay Mafia, who went whining like a bunch of little wussies to the Arts & Entertainment Channel, who then immediately decided that having Commander Phil continue to appear on his own show, would cause them to lose whatever Liberal viewers are watching “Duck Dynasty”, who are probably watching the program just to make fun of us “Inbred Southerners”.

A&E had approached Commander Phil before, concerned that the Robertsons’ Christianity, and their active Prayer Life would “offend” viewers.

They were looking for an excuse.

Evidently, these arbitrators of what is offensive to Americans have never watched “Blue Bloods”, the excellent, high-rated drama starring Conservative Tom Selleck as the New York City Police Commissioner, whose dad is a retired Police Commissioner, and whose two sons are cops and his daughter, an Assistant District Attorney. On every show, the family, including the grandchildren, gather after Mass on Sunday afternoon, for a family dinner, where, before they eat, the pray, or, as we refer to it in the Real World, here in America’s Heartland, they ” Say Grace”.

I am positive that the Liberal idiots at CBS continue to raise you-know-what about that, also.

On a related subject, it knocked me off the couch Tuesday night, when the characters said “Merry Christmas” several times during “NCIS” and “NCIS:LA”. CBS did not allow them to do that last year. They could only say “Happy Holidays”.

But, I digress…

It amazes me how completely over-run by the Liberal mantra of ambivalent morality and situational ethics the “Blue Areas” (the NE Corridor and the Left Coast) of our nation have become.

Their thought processes (and, I’m being kind) are polar opposites to those of Americans here in the Heartland, or, as they have always pompously referred to us, “Flyover Country”.

The reason Commander Phil and his family have been so overwhelmingly popular with Americans, is because they are self-made millionaires, who act like normal, everyday, Working Class Americans.

As I mentioned earlier, Liberals look down on them. I believe that A&E launched the show with the idea of the Robertsons being a “sideshow” for “the smartest people in the room” to point and laugh at.

It turned out that the joke was on them, because…

1. The Robinsons became loved, and laughed with, not at.

2. They, in fact, turned out to be “the smartest people in the room”

Oh yeah, about this “homophobia” you accuse me and other Christian American Conservatives of having…

1. We love the sinner. We hate the sin.

2. Tell that to the Liberal who described me as a “B@ll S#cking  Tea Bagger” in response to my posting of yesterday’s Blog on Ted Cruz’s Facebook Page.

A & E, like the rest of America’s Liberals, who ignore their own hypocrisy, should remember the old maxim concerning glass houses.

As demonstrated by the implosion of their fallen messiah’s Presidency, their “house” is already beginning to crumble around them.

The Washington Meltdown: Dems Call for “Compromise”. Vichy Republicans Want to Surrender.

Cartoon-Cruz-Vs-Establishment-600The apparent 2016 Democrat Presidential Candidate, Former First Lady and personal friend of the late Vince Foster, Hillary Rodham Clinton, related the following story the other day…

We were in another one of these dramas in Washington — would we or would we not default on our debt? And all the business leaders wanted to talk to me about was, ‘was the United States going to default on its debt?’ And I kept saying, ‘Oh, of course not. We would never do that.’ And just hoping and praying that I was right. 

What I saw, in that incident, was bewilderment. Like, how could the United States do that to itself? Especially countries that believe in our model, really cherish our values, want to be moving more toward our example.

Fast forward, this last time — as I talked to people around the world — there was a sense like, ‘if you guys can’t get your act together, we need to de-Americanize the world.’ Which was a phrase used by a high-ranking Chinese official. That is not good news for us. That is a very unfortunate conclusion. 

So we have to pull ourselves together. We have to stand up, solve our problems. Everybody is not going to get everything they want. We have to get back to good old fashioned compromise and we have to make those decisions that reassure America’s leadership at home and abroad.

“De-Americanize the World”? That is absolutely hilarious, coming from the Chinese, who have, over the past decade, been turning themselves into a Communist Model of a Capitalist Country.

But, I digress…

Is it just me, or have y’all noticed the renewed cry for “Compromise” in the Halls of Power in Washington, DC?

And, the funny thing is, this renewed cry of “Can’t we all just get along” is coming when the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm), has dropped to a very low 37% Job Approval Rate in National Polls, which are always composed to be weighted with more Democrat participants than Republicans.

Hence, the Former “First Mama’s” “Call for Compromise”, even while her Democrat brethren and sisters in the Senate dropped the Nuclear Option, taking away the right to filibuster in the Senate, as I reported yesterday.

If the Hildebeast was a physician, I would tell her to “heal thyself”. But, since she isn’t, she needs to just “heal”.  

I find it quite funny and revealing that the Democrats are calling for “compromise”.

Heck, they always do when they realize that the things they want to do, are the exact opposite of the will of the majority of the American People….and those same citizens, who can fire their sorry rear-ends every 2 years, are beginning to rise up on their hind legs, like a lion about to drop a zebra on the Serengeti.

Look at the facts: As I just mentioned, you have a president whose Signature Legislation, quite frankly, Marxist in nature, is now opposed by 93% of the American People, and whose job approval rating is going down like the Titanic into the icy depths of oblivion.

The Democrats are calling for Compromise in an act of desperation, feverishly attempting to hold on to whatever power and, **cough** credibility they have left.

Now, as any average American with common sense, out here in the Heartland will tell you, when your opponent in a fight is about to land face-first on the ground after a knockout punch, you don’t hold him up and hit yourself in the face at the same time.

However, that is exactly what Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and the rest of the Vichy Republicans are doing.

Lacking any sense of self-preservation, these spineless Professional Politicians, while giving lip service to those who elected them in the Mid-Term Massacre of 2010, are still reaching across the aisle to their political opponents, offering them support and succor as one would a family member in their time of need.

At the same time, Mitch McConnell came out the other day, and called The Tea Party Movement, who gave the Republicans the House of Representatives in 2010, “a bunch of bullies”.

To quote the late , great Slim Pickens in “Blazing Saddles”,

What is the Wide, Wide World of Sports is a’goin’ on here?

And to pile on in the Vichy Republican Race to Extinction, House Speaker John Boehner, has proclaimed that they are “not through with Immigration Reform, yet”.

What is the matter with you guys? As we say down here in Dixie,

Are y’all just ate up with “The Stupid”?

I can’t hear the high-pitched whines of the young and dumb, and old and didactic Liberals out there, right now,

But, your President, Reagan, compromised, all the time!!! 1!1! Eleventy!!!

Why, yes, he did. But, 99.99% of the time,,,he got what HE wanted, in the first place…and usually, what the American People wanted. He did his job as the President.

Please compare and contrast to the no-compromise Petulant President who meanders his way into the Oval Office, Monday through Friday, around 10:00 a.m., and puts his feet on the Resolute desk.

If you believe that President Reagan would have allowed the Nuclear Option to have been dropped in the Senate during his lifetime, you probably still live in your Mom’s basement.

In the Real World,you negotiate from a position of strength, in order to achieve the goals you have set. You are prepared to give the perception of compromise, all the while, moving your opponent in the direction you want them to go, all the while keeping something in your hip pocket, to be used to your advantage.

Unfortunately, both the Democrats and the Vichy Republicans have construed the definition of “Compromise” to mean a surrender of Conservative ideals and Poltical Ideology, and an acceptance all Liberal Political Stances.

If this blatant, oblivious, self-serving stupidity of the part of both Political Parties continues, both Congress’ and Obama’s numbers are going to continue to tank.

And, the Mid-Term Election of 2010 will pale in comparison to 2014.

And, that will be a good thing.

The Second Civil War: The Beltway Vs. The Heartland

pailinbiggulp2October before last, one of my bride’s favorite aunts, her namesake, passed away. So, we made the 21 hour drive up to Waterford Township, Michigan, from DeSoto County, Mississippi.  Waterford Township is located right outside of the vast wasteland known as Detroit. Anyway, what struck me while I was up there, was not so much the differences in Northern Culture and my beloved Southern Way of Life, but, rather,  the similarities.

We all spoke, basically, the same language. Although, they couldn’t figure out why I didn’t sound like Jeff Dunham’s redneck mannequin, Bubba Jay. Needless to say, it was an interesting week.

That being said, it struck me, while at lunch with friends, after church on Sunday, just how disconnected the professional politicians, pundits, and prevaricators (but, I repeat myself) up in the Beltway are from all of us average citizens out here in America’s Heartland.

I guess what really triggered this revelation was remembering Sarah Palin’s speech from CPAC’s Saturday Session, in which she spoke just like you or me, having a political discussion with our friends and family. She was bringing up some spot-on political points, when, all of the sudden, she got a mischievous smile on her face and began telling the audience how Todd gave her a wonderful gift the Christmas before last: a gun rack for her ATV. She talked about how cool it was, and then told the crowd that, for this Christmas, she gave Todd a new hunting rifle. She quipped,

Yep, Todd got the rifle and I got the rack.

As the stunned audience quickly broke out in thunderous laughter and applause, Sarah stood there, grinning like the Cheshire Cat, while, at the same time, reaching under the podium to retrieve a 44-ounce Super Big Gulp Diet Coke, which she slowly sipped from, still grinning, then holding it over her head , imitating Lady Liberty holding her torch. The picture of this seminal moment has since gone viral, much to the chagrin of Liberals, on both sides of the political aisle, whose heads have been exploding, like balloons which have blown up beyond their usefulness.

She also got a gig in on professional kingmaker, Karl Rove, he of the whiteboard fame, who was, unfortunately, not a very good prognosticator in the Presidential Election.

Rove made an appearance on yesterday’s Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, where he basically called Governor Palin a quitter, attacking her like a petulant child , who had been criticized by his Mom, or a Liberal Democrat. Take your pick.

Getting back to the crux of the matter, there is a great divide between those who are supposed to be “the smartest people in the room”, those who are supposed to objectively report to us the news,  those who are supposed to be our civil servants, and us average American Citizens.

We, as Americans, out here in Realityville (as Rush Limbaugh calls it) tend to hold on to our Traditional American Values.  Of course, this Classic American System of Beliefs and Values, is what led Democratic President Candidate Barack Obama, to tell a bunch of donors on a campaign stop in Pennsylvania before the 2008 Election, that “us rednecks” were out here “bitterly clinging to guns or religion”.

That began an animosity between Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm) and average Americans, that did not dissipate with time. If, anything, his actions since ascending to the Throne of The Regime, have seemingly been designed to intentionally torque off average Americans, living in “Flyover Country”.

With his minions, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, firmly esconced in their seats of power in our nations legislature, our country continued a downhill spiral which rivals the Fall of the Roman Empire.

Americans rallied in 2010, to take back the House of Representatives, by forming a New American Tea Party, consisting of grassroots groups, which supported Conservative candidates, holding rallies to gin up support and get out the vote.

During all of this upheaval, where has the Republican Party been? I mean, the purpose of our two-party political system, is to have different points-of-view to choose from, right?

Well, evidently the Powers-That-Be of the Grand Old Party have forgotten the reason that they were sent up to Capitol Hill. For example,

House Speaker John Boehner says he ‘‘absolutely’’ trusts President Barack Obama, even though they have their differences.

Boehner told ABC’s ‘‘This Week’’ that the two have a good relationship and that they’re ‘‘open with each other … honest with each other.’’

How precious.

Recently, Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz have stood up on their hinds legs, doing their jobs, speaking out for Americans., by holding forth on the Senate Floor, in a spectacular filibuster, protesting the Obama-suggested Sequester.

In response, older patriarchs of the Senate, John McCain, and his faithful dog, Lindsey Graham,  jumped on the Young Freedom Warriors, calling their behavior disrespectful, and these Fighters for Liberty, “Wacko Birds”.

After experiencing blowback from his constituency that made Hurricane Katrina look like one of those battery-operated handheld fans, McCain apologized.

But, the divide remains.

The Beltway continues its willing obliviance to the economic plight of average Americans, and disparaging of the Heartland of America’s System of Beliefs and Values, which have protected and sustained this country since its founding.

Thomas Jefferson, an American Founding Father, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the United States once said,

 When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.

If our servants on Capital Hill do not “straighten up” and remember that we are their bosses, and not the other way around, it could lead to civil disobedience, or worse.

I have an idea: Let’s just vote them out, before that happens.

A Divided Nation

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. I went to bed last night and tossed and turned for quite a while. I couldn’t believe it. Are Americans idiots? Had they completely given themselves over to Godless avarice? Had they learned nothing from the failed history of the teachings of Karl Marx?

Then, I looked at the Electoral Map this morning.

Brothers and sisters, we live in a divided nation.

Following years of the dumbing down of America’s population (Just look at the ACT/SAT scores.), an emboldening of the Fifth Column treasonous Main Stream Media, and three generations of a growing population of Americans who look to Uncle Sugar for their daily existence, America is divided between the worker Bees and the Drones, the Christians and the Lyin’s, and,unfortunately, the North and the South.

It has taken a while to make the Marx/Alinsky dream come true.  From the time of the Democrat’s Great Society, through Barack Hussein Obama’s Together We thrive (on taxpayers’ money), America has traveled a path of growing dependence on Big Government, horrifyingly similar to that of Europe, now in the throes of an Armaggedon of Class Warfare.

For a year and a half, I worked at a local state-run  Jobs Center, where folks could come in, register with the state,use the computers to find a job they wanted to apply for, and then talk to a counselor, who, 9 times out of 10, qualified or not, would refer them to that employer, in order to reach their quota.

People would also come up there to report how they looked for work, in order to receive their Unemployment Check. It was simple: You have to have contacted three employers, by phone, computer, or person-to-person.

I can’t tell you how many showed up with nothing filled out on their contact sheet, and then got mad when we told them they had to have it filled out. They then, sat down at a table and made contacts up, in order to continue to receive “their benefits”.

Heck, during the summer, you would have generations of families from small towns in Northwest Mississippi carpool in together. While they would be waiting to be seen, they would have a party with friends or family that were up there, getting “their benefits”, also.

But, its not just these professional Moochers (like the First Lady) that voted for the Manchurian President last night. It was those well-meaning, I’m-smarter than-you, I-feel-more-than-you, you-ignorant-redneck-racist-Christianist hick Liberals up in the Northeast corridor, who proudly proclaim on Conservative websites:

Hey, I’m a Moderate!

Trust me. I’ve been fighting them on the Conservative website, hotair.com, since Obama was elected the first time. It was their influence that got Romney-Ryan nominated.

Now, don’t get me wrong: Mitt Romney seems to be , as Rush Limbaugh described him, a gentleman. But, as Rush also said:

Mitt Romney is no Conservative.

And, despite what the Beltway Pundits will proclaim today, America is still a Center-right country.

Just look at all those Red States, sitting squarely in the Heartland of our nation. These states are, to this very moment, populated by hard-working American Christians, loving God and country, and doing their best, against a rising tide, to live by God’s Word, and to continue to uphold the Judeo-Christian Values that this nation was founded upon.

I know, because I am surrounded by them. I work with them everyday. I attend church on Sunday, go to Small Group on Tuesday night, and spend time with them socially. They are my family and friends…and they are just as upset and torqued off, as I am.

The bright side to this monumental stupidity shown by the American people last night is tri-fold:

1. God is still in control. He said it. I believe it. That settles it. You can’t outrun Him and you can’t out-love Him.

2. Conservatives are still the largest political ideology in this country. Don’t believe the garbage that you will be hearing from the Beltway Pundits in the upcoming days. They don’t know you. They are as far-removed from our daily lives as Michelle Obama is from a Thigh Master.

3. We still hold the House of Representatives. We must hold Boehner and the rest of the RINOs’ pedicured feet to the fire. They must hold the line against the, as Victoria Jackson sang, “Communist in the White House”.

As I watch the sun come up once again in Northwest Mississippi, I’m reminded of the words of my sainted Daddy’s favorite Hymn (and mine, as well):

I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross,

and exchange it someday for a crown.

Obama got it wrong back in 2008.

Christian Americans don’t bitterly cling.

We joyfully cling.

The Northeast Republican National Convention

Have you ever been excluded from a club, meeting, or party? Remember how rejected and mad that made you?

Wellll…grab the duct tape Reagan Conservatives, living in the Heartland.

The New York Post reports:

The word is going out quietly to Republican activists across New Jersey: If you’re going to the GOP convention in Tampa next month, be sure to be there by Tuesday night, Aug. 28, because Gov. Chris Christie is going to be giving the keynote speech that night.

“We’ve been told that’s the night to be there, that’s when the governor is going to speak. They’re saying he’s the keynoter,” one top party activist told The Post yesterday.

On May 26, 2012, Andrew McCarthy wrote the following article for nationalreview.com, answering a post by National Review’s Noah Glyn, claiming that Chis Christie was one of us (Conservative)

As it happens, I am a citizen of New Jersey, so my reasons for examining his record closely go beyond my day job. It is based on that examination that I see Christie as wildly overrated. Sure, his YouTube smackdowns of overmatched lefty hacks are catnip for the Right. The routine gets old fast, though. The tantrums have become as mundane as “Pass the salt.” Christie now erupts not only at teachers’ union drones but at NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly, New York congressman Pete King, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, anti-sharia “crazies” who resist Islamic supremacism, all those “completely intellectually dishonest” conservatives who think Romneycare may not have been a fabulous idea, and, one infers, just about anyone who happens by when Governor Grumpy is having a bad day . . . which seems to be often. Plus, there’s not much rain in them big winds: Christie’s bully-boy études do not drown out his nonstop symphony to “bipartisanship,” nor obscure that it is “compromise” with the Left that sends him into (not infrequent) frissons of self-adulation.

To be sure, Christie is a very talented politician and a deft extemporaneous speaker. He has done some good things in a heavily Democratic state dominated by municipal unions. He is certainly, as blue-state governors go, better than average. That does not make him a conservative, much less the “consistent conservative” of Glyn’s portrayal.

…In the post Glyn targets, my point was that Christie would be a poor choice as Mitt Romney’s running mate — a conclusion with which Glyn actually agrees. If the objective in making the pick is to improve Romney’s chances by balancing the ticket with someone more conservative than Romney, that purpose would not be served by selecting a near-clone of Romney. Another moderate northeastern GOP governor with a soft spot for socialized medicine is not going to energize tea partiers and other Romney-indifferent conservatives. Furthermore, my principal contention in the post, not mentioned by Glyn, was that Christie has been adamant about not being ready to be president. Given that readiness to assume the office is generally taken to be the salient qualification for the No. 2 slot, Christie would seem to be unsuitable on his own account. In any event, my main purpose was not to trash Governor Christie — as a governor for New Jersey, he may be the best we can do at the moment. My post addressed the claim, still making the rounds, that he’d make a good veep choice.

…Borrowing more millions to pay current operating expenses — heaping more exorbitant debt, with interest, onto the backs of New Jersey’s children — is exactly the practice Christie lambasted his statist predecessor over. He promised to bring it to an end. But now the dilemma: Christie wants to keep his conservative cheerleaders cheering by cutting income taxes while preserving his “reach across the aisle” cred by not only maintaining but expanding the welfare state. As always, the “have it all” fantasy relies on the mirage of epic growth. When that growth inevitably fails to materialize, a governor can either get real or start playing budget voodoo with borrowed money. The “consistent conservative” has made his choice.

I’m far from the first to observe that there is much less to Chris Christie than meets the conservative ear. A blue state could — and usually does — do a lot worse than Christie for its governor. But if “Christie is one of us,” then a lot of “us” aren’t.

As we get closer to the kick-off of what is sizing up to be a distinctly Northeastern Moderate (and I’m being kind) Republican Convention (no Reagan Conservative Republicans allowed), I am reminded of this analysis of the words of the greatest United States President in our generation, who just happened to be a Republican:

Matt Barber wrote in the Washington Times that

Ronald Reagan often spoke of a “three-legged stool” that undergirds true conservatism. The legs are represented by a strong defense, strong free-market economic policies and strong social values. For the stool to remain upright, it must be supported by all three legs. If you snap off even one leg, the stool collapses under its own weight.

A Republican, for instance, who is conservative on social and national defense issues but liberal on fiscal issues is not a Reagan conservative. He is a quasi-conservative socialist.

A Republican who is conservative on fiscal and social issues but liberal on national defense issues is not a Reagan conservative. He is a quasi-conservative dove.

By the same token, a Republican who is conservative on fiscal and national defense issues but liberal on social issues – such as abortion, so-called gay rights or the Second Amendment – is not a Reagan conservative. He is a socio-liberal libertarian.

Put another way: A Republican who is one part William F. Buckley Jr., one part Oliver North and one part Rachel Maddow is no true conservative. He is – well, I’m not exactly sure what he is, but it ain’t pretty.

I, like most other Conservatives out here in the Heartland, am going to hold my nose and vote for Mitt Romney.

But, this whole situation sure ain’t pretty.

What Happened to “Mr. Inevitable”?

It’s seems like, just the other day, that Mitt Romney supporters, known on Conservative websites as “Mittbots” were insisting that the Nomination of Mitt “The Legacy” Romney as the Republican Presidential Candidate was a fait d’accompli.

Things have changed.

Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney’s struggles in Michigan are fueling speculation that Republicans might have to resort to a doomsday scenario and launch a frantic search for a 2012 savior at their nominating convention in late August.

Rare in the modern age of U.S. politics, a “brokered convention” could result in Republicans ditching their current crop of candidates and turning to someone else who they feel would have a better chance of defeating Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 6 election.

How did Republicans get to this point? Romney’s failure to get conservatives fully behind him and put down yet another challenger in the party – this time it’s Rick Santorum – is causing angst in the party.

Many senior Republicans do not think Santorum, a social conservative caught up in the U.S. culture wars over issues like abortion and contraception, has a chance to beat Obama if he wins the party’s presidential nomination.

When he ran for re-election as a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania in 2006, Santorum lost by 18 percentage points. But, nevertheless, he is exposing Romney’s weaknesses in Michigan, where Santorum leads polls ahead of the big Midwestern state’s February 28 primary.

A Romney loss to Santorum in Michigan, the state where he was born and where his father was governor, would only intensify the talk about a weak Republican field and feed demands for someone else as the party’s candidate to challenge Obama.

“It’s hard for me to see how Romney rights the ship if he loses Michigan,” said Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak. “There is no level of spin that can overcome that disaster.”

Michigan will set the table for “Super Tuesday,” the March 6 jackpot when 10 states hold Republican nominating contests. A loss for Romney in Michigan would raise serious doubts over whether he can rally enough support to have a big day on Super Tuesday and make a big move toward clinching the nomination.

The candidates are engaging in a state-by-state battle to become the Republican nominee. The party will officially pick a nominee at its August convention in Tampa, Florida.

Why is Romney losing in what was once his “home state”, a state where his own father, George Romney, was once Governor?

L.Z. Granderson, in an article published on CNN.com, has a possible explanation:

One very clear reason why Mitt Romney is far from a lock to win the Michigan primary, despite his ties to the state, is that he’s not really tied to the state.

He was born here, he lived here. But he’s not family. Not anymore.

That’s why the characterization of Rick Santorum polling well in Romney’s backyard is a bit misguided. The truth is, many of us disowned that two-faced liar years ago. We remember how, back in 2008, Romney came home promising to do all he could to save the auto industry. And we believed him and voted for him and he won the primary here. Then, after he dropped out of the race, he wrote a New York Times op-ed that carried the headline “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.”

The opening sentence: “If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye.”

What the he@@?

I thought he said he was one of us.

Later in the piece, Romney talks about why we should let the auto industry go bankrupt. Although he lays out some very sound reasons for this — including an anecdotal story of when his father, George, took over American Motors — at the end of the day he fails to mention the most important thing. Us.

He forgot about the people back home who depended on the auto industry to put food on the table, pay mortgages, send the kids to college. He greeted us like family when he needed our votes, but when he left town he treated us like strangers.

If Romney didn’t think a bailout was the best way to help the state, he should have said that when he came here looking for delegates and let the people at his rallies decide if they agreed with him. Instead he pandered, then kicked dirt in our faces on his way out the door — an all too familiar pattern with Romney.

The reason Santorum is gaining votes in Michigan isn’t because he’s so liked here, though his social conservative rhetoric plays well in the western side of the state. But it’s because we’ve been burned by Romney before. He tells the people in front of him what they want to hear. But when he sets his sights on a new shiny object, he changes the script to fit his new needs.

Unfortunately, for The Legacy, other Americans besides Granderson and the Michiganders have figured out his Karma Chameleon nature, also.

According  to pollster Scott Rasmussen:

…Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum has now bounced to a 12-point lead over Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters finds Santorum with 39% support to the former Massachusetts governor’s 27%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich follows from a distance with 15% of the vote, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with 10%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Now, I’m just an average American, sitting here outside Memphis, Tennessee (Detroit South) in the Northwest Corner of Mississippi, but it seems to me, as I’ve said before, that average Americans, especially Conservatives here in the Heartland, are a stiff-necked people.

We tend to stand up on our hind legs when someone tries to force something (or in this case, someone) upon us that we really don’t trust, or care for.

For an example, please watch a certain Supreme Court Case coming in a few months, concerning the Constitutionality of forcing everyone in America to buy Health Insurance in order to participate in a Federal Government-run bureaucratic nightmare of a Healthcare System, that the overwhelming majority of Americans remain opposed to, but was shoved down our throats, anyway.

By the way, where did Obama and his Administration ever find a state-run Healthcare System to model Obamacare after?

Oh, yeah.  Romneycare.

You know, that might have something to do with Romney’s campaign tanking, as well.
