New Years Day 2016: Once Again, “A Time For Choosing”

th0HP8WP4PAs I sat down this morning to write something to summarize 2015, while looking forward to 2016, I thought about the Top News Stories of this past year:

The War on ISIS

The Supreme Court Ruling on “Gay Marriage”

The Paris Islamic Terrorist Attack

The San Bernadino, California Islamic Terrorist Attack

The Charleston Shooting and the Liberals’ Use of it to Censor the Confederate Battle Flag and Remove Historical Statues

“Black Lives Matter” and the Mass Riots Across America

The Hoax Known as “Climate Change”

And, last, but certainly not least, the 2016 Presidential Election 

And I wondered how the “Shining City on a Hill”, which the greatest American President in my generation, Ronald Wilson Reagan, so wonderfully described, has fallen so far, into a morass of relative morality and situational ethics.

In 1964, in his famous stump speech, “A Time for Choosing”, The Great Communicator said,

It’s time we asked ourselves if we still know the freedoms intended for us by the Founding Fathers. James Madison said, “We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self government.”

This idea — that government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power — is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man’s age-old dream–the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order — or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, “The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits.”

The Founding Fathers knew a government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.

So, is our present state of unrest and strife which we are experiencing in America, simply a matter of choice?

I believe that it is…one of individual freedom or subjugation to “princes and principalities”.

Here is a radio message which the late, great American News Commentator Paul Harvey delivered on April 3, 1965:

If I were the devil, I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree—Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first—I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: “Do as you please.” “Do as you please.” To the young, I would whisper, “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what is bad is good, and what is good is “square”. And the old, I would teach to pray. I would teach them to pray after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’ 

And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors on how to lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills. 

If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches that war that themselves, and nations that war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flame. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, and neglect to discipline emotions—just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography—soon I could evict God from the courthouse, and then the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.If I were the devil I’d take from those, and who have, and give to those wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. What do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would question against extremes and hard work, and Patriotism, and moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were to devil I’d keep on doing on what he’s doing.

So, are we doomed as a nation to continue to slide down this slippery slope we are traveling on? In the conclusion of “A Time for Choosing”, Ronald Reagan reminded us that the choice was ours to make…

They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. Winston Churchill said that “the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits–not animals.” And he said, “There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

As a Christian American Conservative, I believe that there is a divine spark within each one of us.

It is up to us , whether we choose to listen to that still, small voice, as He guides us through our choices we make everyday.

I also believe that this nation was forged by Christian Men, who were led by their Creator to seek the FREEDOM to worship him as they chose

In 2016, we have an opportunity to begin the journey back to reclaim the vision of our Forefathers.

It is, once again, “A Time For Choosing”.

Of “Car Wrecks” and “Caitlin” (Original Parody Song Included)

thTCMDP1A8People will always slow down for a car wreck.

It’s human nature.

We are simply fascinated by something out of the ordinary.

By watching the “car wreck”, we can reflect on our lives and “count our blessings”.

It is this axiom that explains the popularity of so-called “reality” television programs, whether they are actually scripted, or not.

But, what happens when one of these “car wrecks” has a car wreck?

Then…actual REALITY intrudes.

According to variety.com,

Caitlyn Jenner could face a manslaughter charge following her car accident in Malibu earlier this year that left one dead. 

“The case will be submitted to the district attorney next week,” Lt. Shaun Mathers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Detectives are set to present evidence to the prosecution that could lead to a misdemeanor manslaughter charge against Jenner. Because there’s “nothing really egregious” in the case, Det. Richard Curry of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. said there’s a “50/50” chance that she will be charged.

A misdemeanor manslaughter charge usually carries a one-year jail sentence.Jenner was driving down Pacific Coast Highway at an unsafe speed on February 7 when her Escalade hit another car, causing a chain-reaction crash. Det. Curry said her violation of the vehicular manslaughter law ultimately led to a death.

Although Jenner was not speeding, she was driving at an speed considered unsafe considering the day’s road conditions.

According to authorities, Kim Howe’s Lexus rear-ended Jessica Steindorff’s Toyota Prius and Jenner’s Escalade rear-ended Howe’s car, pushing it into oncoming traffic near Corral Canyon Road. A Hummer then struck Howe’s Lexus, causing her to die at the scene.

Steindorff and Howe’s families separately sued Jenner, claiming that her negligent actions sparked the fatal crash. Steindorff alleges that she suffered more than $25,000 in damages.

Detectives will also present evidence against Steindorff as well, as she was driving on a suspended license at the time. 

When Jenner first announced that he/she/it was “transgendered”, Liberal Pundits and the Main Stream Media hailed the Former Olympic Decathlon Winner as a “hero”.

Bruce Jenner is no hero. For that matter, neither is Caitlin, his alter ego.

The Old Timers would have called him a “Glory Hound”.

My late Daddy would have been very confused, as he was in the middle of Old Country Buffet, in his late 70s, one night at dinner, when my sister and I told him that the person that he saw bussing the table in front of us was not really a girl, but a guy, because you could tell by the Adam’s apple. In response, he declared loudly,

That can’t be a guy. He’s got headlights!

Back in his day, the “King of the Humbugs”, PT Barnum, would have offered Jenner money to be a sideshow attraction.

For the past five years of writing this blog, I have been pointing out how our nation has been traveling sown the Slippery Slope of Relative Morality and Situational Ethics. And, how this country seems to have resigned itself to the notion that “whatever gets you through the night…it’s alright…it’s alright”, as the late John Lennon sang.

However, where does “self-realization” end and honesty and simply being a good person begin?

Is Bruce…Caitlin…Whatever…Jenner being true to him/her self themselves or to his pocketbook?

Or, is he just “Mentally Irregular”?

With those questions in mind, sitting here on a hot Saturday Morning in Dixie, earlier this summer, I put fingers to keyboard, and came up with this little ditty.

“I saw her in the paper just the other day
She was on the front cover and certainly did look weirdo…

Her picture looked so familiar to me
Didn’t I see her on a box of Wheaties?

Now, that threw me and I wasn’t sure
But, wasn’t she a guy and now she’s a girl?

Well I’m not dumb but I can’t understand
Why she looks like a woman, but lusts like a man
Ol’ Bruce Jenner…J-e-n-n-e-r…Jenner…

Here in the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free,We can be anything that we want to be,
For wealth or fame or pride or money
We can even change from a dude to a honey

Now, I’ve a big heart and am a compassionate guy
But, I think ol’ Caitlin’s pullin’ a con. She’s still Bruce Jenner.

Is it identity or fame?
Either way, it’s so lame
His inner “woman” came out
Please put “her” back in
I can’t look anymore…I may throw up

Well that’s the way that this story goes

Bruce was a boy and now he’s a girl
Was it for contentment or his pocketbook?

And, now we have another weirdo hack
Her folks say she’s white, but she says she’s black
I guess this weirdness goes all the way to Spokane
Now, the N-double A-C-P will never be the same again

Well I sure do miss the Good Ol’ Days
When the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
Was not so weirdo

In conclusion, in my opinion, Bruce “Caitlin” Jenner is not that brave.

Everything he has done to himself, is reversible.

His new chassis is only completed from the waist up.

Jenner’s messed-up life, can indeed, be viewed as an object lesson.

But, not in the way that the Hollywood Liberals intended.

However, if Jenner does wind up in the “Iron Bar Hotel”,

I predict that he/she/it will be very popular.

Now, boys and girls, please excuse me. I have to go hurl.
