Biblical References, including Christ, Cut From Disney Movie, “A Wrinkle in Time”

Jesus loves the little children…

All the little children of the world.

Red and yellow, black and white,

They are precious in His sight.

Jesus loves the little children of the world.

ChristianPost.com reports that

The writer of Disney’s adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time” says she cut Bible references, including Jesus, from the film because, as she claims, “society has progressed.”

Screenwriter Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”) was tapped to transform the children’s book into a big budget film, but in the process eliminated the biblical references that devout Episcopalian L’Engle included in her original work. In an interview with Uproxx last month, Lee explained why she omitted all of the Christian elements that are a significant part of L’Engle’s book.

“What I looked at, one of the reasons Madeleine L’Engle’s [book] … had that strong Christian element to it wasn’t just because she was Christian, but because she was frustrated with things that needed to be said to her in the world and she wasn’t finding a way to say it and she wanted to stay true to her faith,” Lee said. “And I respect that and I understand those feelings of things you want to say in the world that need to be said that are out there. In a good way, I think there are a lot of elements of what she wrote that we have progressed as a society and we can move onto the other elements.”

The children’s science fantasy book is about a little girl named Meg who travels through space to find her missing father, a scientist. In what ultimately becomes a battle between good and evil, three celestial beings named Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which help Meg on her journey and guide her with scriptures like 1 Corinthians 1:27–29 and John 1:5.

In the book, Meg’s brother, Charles, realizes that Jesus is a fighter of evil, and even asks Meg’s friend Calvin to read him a bedtime story from the book of Genesis. However, these elements won’t be seen in the film adaptation of the book.

Instead, Lee said she focused on the battle between light and darkness, which she described as being “universal.”

“In a sad way, some of the other elements are more important right now and bigger — sort of this fight of light against darkness. It’s a universal thing and timeless and seems to be a battle that has to keep being had,” she said.

The screenwriter said the Disney version celebrates inclusiveness and diversity, and argued that including Bible verses and other Christian elements would stray from that. “I can’t put words in [Madeleine L’Engle’s] mouth — and I worked with one of our producers, Catherine Hand, who was very close to her — but that wasn’t her intention. Her intention was looking at the ordinary real hero in an extraordinary situation,” she said. “The power of love in this world, and we stayed very true to that. And her lens through it was Christianity and everyone has a different lens in.”

She added, “That’s what inclusiveness is to me in this film, is really looking at all of us have a role to play in this no matter where we come from or what we look like.”

We’ve “progressed” past Christianity?

Have you lost your ever-lovin’ mind?

Remember the movie trilogy of a few years ago based on C. S Lewis’ epic Fantasy Novel, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”?

Christian Allegory was everywhere to be found in those three movies, as it was in the book.

Aslan the noble lion represented Christ in His Death and Resurrection and His fight against evil in which he shall emerge triumphant upon His return.

“The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” Movie Trilogy presented the Gospel in a manner which could be easily understood by both adults and children.

“A Wrinkle in Time” could have, also, if Liberal Intolerance in the name of Political Correctness had not gotten in the way.

How did it come to this?

After President Barack Hussein Obama took office, he made a point of stating several times that America was not just a Christian nation anymore.

And, while that remains true to a certain extent, it is also true that the overwhelming majority, 75% of Americans, still proclaim themselves to be followers of Jesus Christ. And even beyond that, 92% of Americans still believe in God.

What is amazing to me, though, is how, American Christianity is constantly attacked on all fronts:  militarily, culturally, and even within organized religion, itself.

From illegal immigration to abortion to homosexual “rights”, Americans who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ on these issues have been under fire by Liberals, like Screenwriter Jennifer Lee, who insist that they know more about what is in the Bible and what Christ says, or would say, about these topics, than those of us who actually read God’s Word.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools. – Romans 1:22

When you enter into a Facebook “discussion” with these “new Pharisees”, and you counter their arguments on these topics with Scripture, Liberals are initially slow to respond.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, – 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV

Most Liberals will start “Googling” these topics, looking for any Scriptures that will substantiate their position.

There’s been many a time they have come back at me with Old Testament Scripture. It is then that I explain to them about the sacrifice that Christ made for us sinners, freeing Christians from Jewish Law and taking the punishment for our sins , creating a New Covenant by covering Christians through the shedding of His blood.

At that point in the “discussion”, there is a long pause, as they are trying to figure out a comeback.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.- 1 Corinthians 2:14

This misconception, which I have been trying to explain, involves Liberals’ belief that American Christians will not fight back against them and the things they want to say and do in our society.

If there’s one thing during all of the years of anti-Christian bias, which we have experienced during the Obama administration, and now, after Christian Americans helped elect American Businessman and Entrepreneur Donald J. Trump as the 45th President, that the Liberals should have learned, is the fact that Christian American Conservatives will fight back.

For a shining example, please refer to how well Christian Family Movies like the “God is Not Dead” Series and the one which Sean Hannity produced have done.

It is funny though…that when we begin fighting back, the Liberals have a tendency to label us as uncaring, mean , divisive, and intolerant.

Which in itself, is ironic, considering the way they treat the faith of 75% of Americans.

Isn’t it “funny” how those who claim to be the “most tolerant” among us are actually the least tolerant of all?

Obama Declares Himself Big Kahuna… Announces He Will Rule By Royal Diktat

obamakingOf all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.- C. S. Lewis

On May 5, 2013 U.S. President Barack Obama gave the commencement address to the graduating class of The Ohio State University at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Here is an excerpt:

Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They’ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.

We have never been a people who place all our faith in government to solve our problems. We shouldn’t want to. But we don’t think the government is the source of all our problems, either. Because we understand that this democracy is ours. And as citizens, we understand that it’s not about what America can do for us, it’s about what can be done by us, together, through the hard and frustrating but absolutely necessary work of self-government. And class of 2013, you have to be involved in that process.

In other words,

Who are you gonna believe? Me…or your lyin’ eyes?

I wrote earlier this week about President Obama announcing that if Congress would not “work with him” (i.e., do things his way) , he would go around them and rule by diktat…err…Executive Orders.

You know what? I’ve got a phone and I’ve got a pen, and all I need to do is a bunch of executive orders and a bunch of executive actions, and I can take care of the it. I can take care of the inequality. I can take care of the unfairness. I don’t need Congress! I’m tired of waiting on Congress; I’m just gonna go do it.”

Well…yesterday, he met with Senate Democrats and gave them the same message.

News.yahoo.com reports that

President Barack Obama has told Senate Democrats he plans to use his executive authority to act in 2014 when Congress stands in his way.

Obama met with senators from his own party Wednesday at the White House. The White House says Obama and Democrats discussed proposals to raise the minimum wage and efforts to pass a comprehensive immigration overhaul. Education initiatives and jobs measures were also on the agenda.

The White House says Obama wants to work with Congress to make progress, but will also act on his own to get things done.

The meeting was the first such session of 2014 and comes two weeks before Obama is set to deliver his State of the Union address.

The senators left the White House without speaking to reporters.

I’ll just bet they did.

On his nationally syndicated radio program yesterday, the Godfather of Conservative Talk Radio, Maha Rushie, himself, spoke about Obama’s “Independence Proclamation”:

Executive orders to make things fair. He can do executive orders and executive actions to get rid of the unfairness. He’s gonna make this lousy country finally fair! … He’s got these Republicans standing in his way. “Okay, I’m gonna just start writing executive orders. “To hell with it! I’m gonna finally make everything fair.” Now, he might have a pen, and he might have a phone, but what he does not have is the constitutional power to run this country like a dictator…

…He’s a constitutional lawyer, and he should know better. But he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about the Constitution. The Constitution is an impediment to Obama. The Constitution is not something to be respected — and it’s not just Obama, by the way. It’s to the vast majority of the intellectual, leftist elite. They really detest the Constitution, because it thwarts them. Some of you may not know this, but the United States Constitution was written to limit government power.

The US Constitution’s first 10 amendments specifically limit government’s power. Well, that’s not cool if you’re Obama or any of today’s liberal Democrats. That, to you, is shackles. They call that “a charter of negative liberties.” Stop and think of that. A document founded in the belief, the proclamation, the declaration, the primacy of individual liberty and freedom is considered “a charter of negative liberties.”

It’s something that gives the people individual primacy and freedom — and, to the left, that’s negative — and the reason they call it “a charter of negative liberties” is because it limits government. They don’t like that, and that’s what Obama was talking about, “You know, the heck with it!”

…Violating the Constitution — there’s no question about this, folks. It’s just a matter of whether people in power and who have the authority to do so want to stop it. Because if nobody’s gonna stop Obama, he’s gonna be able to keep doing it.

Per usual, Rush is right. Obama views himself as a crusader…and the smartest person in the room. Unfortunately for us Americans, he is neither.

Thomas Jefferson had some thoughts on the subject of tyranny:

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.

About that second quote: Perhaps the reason that 3 Congressional Democrats have retired in one week, and those Democrat Senators left their meeting with His Highness without saying a mumblin’ word, is the fact that Democratic Congresscritters with any common sense left, realize that the American People will not tolerate a tyrant who bypasses the System of Checks and Balances, which our Founders so wisely established to secure the continued existence of our country.

Democrats realize that the knockout blow that is coming with the Mid-Term Elections in  2014 will make 2010 look like a slap on the wrist.

Because, when it comes down to it, even the Democrats know that

It’s not tyranny we desire; it’s a just, limited, federal government.- Alexander Hamilton
