Why Didn’t the Alfie Evans Story Happen Here?

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. – 1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV

After writing a post for yesterday morning about the tragic death of little 23 month old Alfie Evans, who was denied additional treatment by the British Government in defense of their Government-run Socialized Healthcare System, I got to thinking about exactly why Americans have fought so hard against it being implemented in our country…

…and why the Democratic Party has fought so hard for it.

Then, the following article caught my eye.

CNSNews.com reports that

Two-thirds (65%) of white Democrats do not believe in a God or higher spiritual power that is “all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving,” Pew Research Center reported Wednesday.

Pew released results of a new survey of more than 4,700 U.S. adults regarding their views on the existence and nature of “God, higher power or spiritual force” showing that 95% of Republicans and 95% of nonwhite Democrats believe in God/higher power. But, only 78% of white Democrats believe in the existence of God/higher power.

Believe in God/Higher Power/Spiritual Force:

Republicans: 95%
Non-White Dems: 95%
White Dems: 78%
All Dems: 86%
And, while two-thirds of both Republicans (67%) and nonwhite Democrats (64%) say God is “all-knowing, all-powerful and all-loving,” only a third of white Democrats (35%) share this belief:

God All-Knowing, All-Loving and All-Powerful:

Republicans: 67%
Non-White Dems: 64%
White Dems: 35%
All Dems: 49%
Republicans and nonwhite Democrats are also much more likely to believe God possesses any one of these traits than are white Democrats:

God All-Powerful:

Republicans: 72%
NonWhite Dems: 72%
White Dems: 38%
God All-Knowing:

Republicans: 80%
Non-White Dems: 77%
White Dems: 52%
God All-Loving:

Republicans: 85%
Non-White Dems: 83%
White Dems: 63%
Likewise, only 32% of white Democrats hold the traditional view of God “as described in the Bible,” compared to 70% of Republicans and 62% of nonwhite Democrats:

Believe in Bible God:

Republicans: 70%
Non-White Dems: 62%
White Dems: 32%
All Dems: 45%
About three-fourths of Republicans say God influences their lives, but less than two-thirds of Democrats agree:

God determines mix of big and little things in their lives (those who believe God determines anything):

Republicans: 76%
Dems: 62%

God determines mix of good and bad things in their lives:

Republicans: 74%
Dems: 63%

Socialized Medicine actually accomplishes the exact opposite that Modern American Liberals claim that it does.

It does not “humanize” America’s Healthcare System.

It dehumanizes it.

Nobody is a living, breathing human being under Socialized Medicine.

We, like innocent little Alfie Evans, become “burdens” to the State.

Instead of vessels with souls inside of them, we become numbers on some government bean counter’s ledger sheet.

The United Kingdom has sublimated Christianity in the day to day lives of their populace to such an extreme degree that callouses have grown upon their very souls.

The embracing of a secular culture and the belief that they are the arbiters of what is right and wrong, combined with the embracing of the cultural norms of those who have migrated into their country, have led to an abandonment of Great Britain’s Traditional Faith and Values System.

It is the installment of a Socialist Government where the citizens of the United Kingdom are now the Proletariat, instead of valued creations of the God of Abraham.

So why are we Americans not in the same boat as the citizens of the United Kingdom?

Because our system of government, as designed by our Founding Fathers, was put together with due deference to “Our Creator” and the rights of the individual to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.

America is not a monarchy. Neither is our president selected by mob rule.

Each of the “United States” and every individual’s vote therein counts.

For the past decade, Americans have experienced an attempt to socialize our Healthcare System which is in the process of collapsing in upon itself.

Thank God for that.

Otherwise, our nation would be in the situation that the United Kingdom finds itself today…

…with the blood of an innocent on its hands…

…all because of a failed political philosophy which disregards the human soul.

Why Alfie Mattered

Alfie_Evans_smiling_April_24__2018

As I have revealed before, I live just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, where I was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital…a long time ago.

While that hospital is now gone, Memphis remains a major medical center, featuring world renowned medical care from well-known providers such as Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation and LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.

However, by far the best known medical care center in Memphis is St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which provides free care to children who are fighting for their lives against the scourge of cancer and other horrific diseases.

On their “About Us” page on their website, the hospital explains its origin…

Unsure of his life’s direction, a young Danny Thomas sought guidance from St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. If the saint would point to the path he should take, Danny vowed to build a shrine in his name. Success followed Danny’s plea and soon after, the legendary entertainer set about fulfilling his vow to St. Jude. The result was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This wonderful hospital is not funded by the government.

American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC) was founded by Danny Thomas in 1957 to be the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and its sole mission is to raise the funds and awareness necessary to operate and maintain the hospital. ALSAC is responsible for raising 75% of the funds necessary to operate St. Jude.

So, what’s my point?

While all of these precious children are being given the expert care which they need and deserve in order to fight for their very lives and to win through this private hospital funded by the benevolence of Americans and others around the world, a 23 month old child has died overnight in the United Kingdom, because the government-run Socialized Healthcare System would not allow his parents to take him to Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, Italy, where treatment which may have given him a fighting chance to live is being offered free of charge.

As Americans, this monstrous situation which we have watched play out before us, is an object lesson as to the consequences of installing the Marxist Theory of Socialism in a Government-run National Healthcare System.

You may be asking, “Why didn’t the Brits seem to care about the life of this innocent child?”

As Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich wrote in an opinion piece for FoxNews.com

Some of it comes from Britain’s National Health Service, which must bureaucratically define what is worth investing in and what is not. In a world of limited medical resources, little babies with rare conditions become expendable “for the greater good.” The fact that we are all diminished makes no difference to the atheist bureaucratic left.

Those who say they favor socialism must be made to confront this inhumanity, which is an integral part of socialist implementation. When the government controls everything, the government defines everything, and humanity is crushed beneath petty rules and petty rulers.

I broke it down even further in a tweet I posted on Thursday…

There, but for the Grace of God, goes America.

In closing his article, Gingrich quoted John Donne, who wrote that

…any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

In the case of innocent little Alfie, his death has diminished a whole country…

…whose inaction speaks volumes.

Until He Comes,
