BenghaziGate: The Ol’ Washington Two-Step

It appears that Congress is receiving the ol’ Washington two-step in their attempts to try to find out what really happened on 9/11/12 at the Benghazi Consulate Compound.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have questions for former CIA Director David H. Petraeus about the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, his recently disclosed extramarital affair and other issues — but their queries will have to wait for a later date.

Acting CIA Director Michael Morrell will testify Thursday in closed-door hearings of the Senate and House intelligence committees instead of Mr. Petraeus, who resigned abruptly last week after admitting he had an extramarital affair.

…Intelligence committee leaders will question Mr. Morrell and FBI Deputy Director Sean Joyce about Mr. Petraeus’ affair during meetings Wednesday, a day before the closed-door hearing at which Mr. Petraeus originally was scheduled to appear.

Congressional leaders indicated that they still might call on Mr. Petraeus to testify eventually.

“I would not rule out Gen. Petraeus being called to testify. That still could happen at some point in time,” Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Republican and vice chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I don’t see how in the world you can find out what happened in Benghazi before, during and after the attack if Gen. Petraeus doesn’t testify,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

One former senior congressional staffer, who asked for anonymity because of the sensitivity of current employers, told The Washington Times that Mr. Petraeus would be “duty-bound” to testify, even as a private citizen.

“He is still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He could be asked to testify as a former senior official, and if he refuses — which I don’t think he would — he could be subpoenaed,” said the staffer, who is the director of a House subcommittee.

Mr. Chambliss said that, in the meantime, it is “fine” for Mr. Morrell to testify in Mr. Petraeus’ place at Thursday’s classified hearing, along with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Matthew Olson, the head of the National Counterterrorism Center.

Mr. Morrell “certainly was there when all the decisions were made relative to Benghazi,” the senator said.

Mrs. Feinstein also ruled out any connection between Mr. Petraeus’ resignation and its postelection disclosure, and political fallout from the Benghazi incident. For several days after the attack, administration officials said it emerged from spontaneous protests, not terrorists.

There was “absolutely not” any connection to Benghazi, Mrs. Feinstein said. “And, I think if you really think this thing out, you will — everybody will come to that same conclusion.”

But Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the details leaked to the media so far do not makes sense to him.

“It seems this [investigation] has been going on for several months, and yet now it appears that they’re saying the FBI did not realize until Election Day that Gen. Petraeus was involved. It just doesn’t add up,” said Mr. King, who also is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “I have real questions about this. I think the timeline has to be looked at.”

Okay…well, I guess they’ll just have to rely on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony.

Oh, wait:

…Clinton is reportedly scheduled to travel to Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Burma and Cambodia while the hearing will take place.

The Senate Intelligence Committee also plans to hold a closed-door hearing the same day, according to spokeswoman Victoria Nuland.

At a House hearing before the Nov. 6 elections, Republicans said President Barack Obama’s administration failed to provide adequate diplomatic security before the Benghazi attack and sought to play down the role of terrorists afterward. Democrats defended the administration’s performance and said Republicans were seeking to exploit the attack for political gain.

Clinton, meanwhile, vowed to keep good on her promise to increase security at U.S. diplomatic outposts.

“We now have a formal Accountability Review Board investigating the terrorist attack that killed Chris, and we will certainly apply its recommendations and lessons learned to improving security everywhere,” Clinton said during a tribute to Stevens at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington.

The issue is that the chairman of the Accountability Review Board, U.S. diplomat Thomas Pickering, has come under suspicion for being sympathetic to Islamist causes.

Meanwhile, author Ed Klein believes the Clintons are rallying their lawyers in the event the Secretary of State is subpoenaed. Some believe Clinton when she claimed that she did order additional security for the Benghazi compound and that the request had “not been carried out.”

With talk of Hillary Clinton stepping down from her post, it is possible that she may be more outspoken about the administration’s handling of the deadly terror attack come 2013.

And, this just broke wide open yesterday:

Paula Broadwell, the biographer revealed as the woman having a secret affair with the now-former CIA director, gave a talk at the University of Denver on Oct. 26 in which she appeared to reveal sensitive, maybe even classified, information about the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The most interesting revelation is her claim that the CIA was holding several Libyan militia members prisoner, which may have prompted the attack. (Though she also sought to explain the Obama administration’s initial view that the attack was linked to the YouTube video Innocence of Muslims, an anti-Islam polemic that sparked riots across the Muslim world.)

She also said flatly that forces at the CIA annex had requested backup from a special Delta Force group she called the CINC’s in extremis force. It was not clear whether she was basing her comments on an Oct. 26 Fox News report by Jennifer Griffin, or whether her information came from elsewhere. (Griffin refers to it as “Commanders [sic] in Extremis Force,” but does not mention Delta Force or any Libyan prisoners.)

A CIA spokeswoman disputed the Fox News account at the time, saying, “no one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” The agency later released a timeline of that evening’s events that cast doubt on Griffin’s story.

In any case, Broadwell’s remarks, which were first reported by Arutz Sheva, are obviously very interesting in light of this week’s big news, as well as the Wall Street Journal’s revelation that the FBI found that Broadwell was in possession of classified documents (though she was never charged with any crime).

Her comments came in response to a questioner who asked her to comment on Petraeus’s handling of the events in Libya.

With this new information leaked by Miss Broadwell, it’s imperative that someone in the Administration needs to speak to the Senate Committee concerning that horrible evening in Benghazi.

I have an idea: Why don’t they ask the president to stop by before he heads out for his upcoming trip to Asia , scheduled for November 17th?

And, if that doesn’t work with his schedule (he likes to sleep in, you know), he could speak directly to the American people, who deserve to know the truth.

Of course, that is about as likely to happen as Obama making a guest appearance at a Gaither Concert.

#Evolve? Into what? A Democrat?

As I got ready to attend church this morning, I was mulling over this historical week in American Politics and, also, considering the aftermath.

After Republican Moderate Mitt Romney lost, the cries came up from anonymous sources on the internet and television and radio pundits as well, that the reason Obama won, is the narrow-mindedness, and old-fashioned core values of the Republican Party.

These geniuses want the party to be in favor of no-strings-attached amnesty for  illegal aliens, to embrace gay marriage, and to sublimate, if not totally eliminate, any influence Christians have on the Republican Party Platform.

In other words, these geniuses wish to turn the GOP into a doppelganger of the Democratic Party.

And, if that happens, our two party political system is finished.

Here’s one of those MENSA members I am speaking of:

An outspoken Republican moderate, Meghan McCain took to Twitter to express frustration with her party following a less-than-stellar night for the GOP.

“I don’t need to do any soul searching about what the GOP is doing wrong, I knew what was wrong four years ago when my father lost. #evolve,” she wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning after Republican nominee Mitt Romney was projected to lose the election to President Barack Obama Tuesday night and Congress would remain with Republicans controlling the House and Democrats the Senate.

McCain, a writer and daughter to former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain tweeted again, “Keep calling people like me RINO’s and see how many elections we keep winning.”

A “RINO” or “Republican in name only” is a term used within the political sphere to describe a self-identifying member of the Republican Party who does not conform to a certain mold of a conservative Republican.

McCain pushed back on the apparent name-calling Wednesday morning suggesting the Republican Party needs to, as she tweeted, “evolve” on a number of issues to keep up with an increasingly diverse American electorate where Democrats appear to have an advantage.

McCain’s reaction on Twitter is part of a growing narrative woven from the Republicans losses in Tuesday’s election and joins a chorus of Republican voices calling for change within the party.

But, win or lose, McCain got a little back-up from her mother on the social media site.

“Good job Meghan!!! RT @McCainBlogette: Keep calling people like me RINO’s and see how many elections we keep winning,” tweeted Cindy McCain, wife to Sen. McCain and Meghan’s mother.

#Evolve…into what? A Democrat?

I would rather set my hair on fire and put it out with a hammer.

The day after the election, Rush Limbaugh said:

All of these things that define the traditional institutions that made this country great, that’s what the Romney campaign was about. It was rejected. That way, or that route to prosperity was sneered at. That route to prosperity was rejected. The people who voted for Obama don’t believe in it. They don’t think it’s possible. They think the game’s rigged. They think the deck is stacked against them.

They think that the only way they’re gonna have a chance for anything is if somebody comes along and takes from somebody else and gives it to them. Santa Claus! And it’s hard to beat Santa Claus. Especially it’s hard to beat Santa Claus when the alternative is, “You be your own Santa Claus.” “Oh, no! I’m not doing that. What do you mean, I have to be my own Santa Claus? No, no. No, no, no. I want to get up every day and go to the tree. You’re the elves,” meaning us.

You throw Hurricane Sandy in here. I must admit, I am genuinely puzzled that Hurricane Sandy and the aftermath helped Obama and hurt Romney. But it did. According to the exit polls. I mean, what they say is what they say. The polls were right on the money, as it turned out. But until people understand why and how big government reduces prosperity for all, they’re gonna continue to be fooled by little things.

By marketing, by smooth talkers, by faux compassion. So we’ll see what happens with the economy as we go forward. Some people think, “Hey, Rush, the economy is resilient in this country, and it’s gonna naturally rebound. No matter what.” There are people today scared the economy is going to rebound despite what’s happening in the stock market today and Obama’s policies are gonna get credit for it.

A bunch of libs are salivating over that. They think the economy is gonna come back no matter what, and that Obama’s big government is going to end up being the explanation for the rest of our lives as to how that happened. Just like in Japan, just like in Greece. But look, you bring up Greece and you bring up Europe, and they’re where we’re headed. Their problems are acute.

The difference is that none of those European countries are anywhere near the leading economy of the world like we are. The world depends on what happens here. The world does not depend on what happens in Spain or Greece or Italy. Not to put them down. But regardless, wherever you go… Look at Greece. Whenever necessary austerity measures are proposed, what happens?

“No, you don’t! You’re not taking it away from me!” There is no rising to responsibility. There is no accepting responsibility. There’s just a demand that the gravy train continue, and we have an administration that’s promising an endless gravy train. All you have to do to stay on that gravy train is vote. But it doesn’t matter.

The thing that’s mind-boggling is that there is no new prosperity in America. There is no improved standard of living. It’s all going down. “But Obama cares. He really cares! He cares much more than Romney. He really, really cares. In fact, he cares so much, we’re gonna give him a do-over. We’re gonna give him a second term to do what we know he wanted to do in the first term but wasn’t able to for whatever reason.”

In fact, Obama cares so much about us, that, while hundreds of thousands are still without power, and desperately trying to pick themselves up after Hurricane Sandy, he went golfing yesterday.

And, this schmuck is an example of the behavior that these Vichy Republican geniuses think our party should be modeling itself after, in order to win back the American public’s vote?

Then…they are just as void of any core values as the Manchurian President himself, is.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

The Petraeus Affair: A Matter of Timing

In a surprising, and fortunate (for the Administration) move, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, General David Petraeus, resigned yesterday, citing an extramarital affair as the reason.

The Wall Street Journal reports

A Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry into use of Mr. Petraeus’s Gmail account led agents to believe the woman or someone close to her had sought access to his email, the people said.

Multiple officials familiar with the investigation identified the woman as the author of a biography on Mr. Petraeus.

It was the second national-security revelation to come to light in the two days after President Barack Obama won re-election. On Wednesday, the Pentagon acknowledged that Iranian fighter planes had fired on an unmanned reconnaissance drone five days before the election. Some Republicans on Capitol Hill were irked that the administration waited so long to make the incident public, while administration officials said they didn’t talk about the attack because the drone program was secret.

Mr. Petraeus’s resignation also comes at a time when the CIA is embroiled in controversy surrounding the events of Sept. 11, 2012, when four Americans were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. After weeks of conflicting accounts of what happened that night, the CIA acknowledged it had played a central role in gathering intelligence and providing security for the U.S. presence there.

Mr. Petraeus was scheduled to testify before the Senate intelligence committee next week. Michael Morell, who was named acting director of the CIA after Mr. Petraeus’s resignation, will appear instead.

The resignation, which stunned the nation’s capital, represented a fall for a man who had been one of the most celebrated military leaders of his time, a four-star general credited with turning the tide in Iraq and reversing the Taliban’s momentum in Afghanistan.

Administration officials said the White House was briefed on the affair Wednesday by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Mr. Obama was informed Thursday by his staff and met with Mr. Petraeus that day. Mr. Petraeus then offered to resign. The announcement came Friday afternoon.

In a statement to CIA employees, Mr. Petraeus said, “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”

CIA Director David Petraeus resigned as head of the intelligence agency, saying he “showed extremely poor judgment” by engaging in an extramarital affair. Neil King has details on The News Hub. Photo: AFP/Getty Images.

His wife, Holly, the daughter of a West Point superintendent, heads the office for service-member affairs in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an agency created by the 2010 financial-regulation law.

Multiple officials said Mr. Petraeus’s affair was with Paula Broadwell, a West Point graduate who recently wrote a book on the retired general, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.” Efforts to reach Ms. Broadwell were unsuccessful. A spokeswoman for her publisher, Penguin, did not immediately comment.

The computer-security investigation—which raised questions about a potential compromise to national security—points to one reason Mr. Petraeus and the White House decided he couldn’t remain in the senior intelligence position. An extramarital affair has significant implications for an official in a highly sensitive post, because it can open an official to blackmail. Security officials are sensitive to misuse of personal email accounts—not only official accounts—because there have been multiple instances of foreign hackers targeting personal emails.

Okay.  Let’s try to absorb this, shall we? The head of the CIA, an Army Legend, who has been married 37 years, all of the sudden resigns over an affair, just a few days before he is scheduled to testy before Congress about the Administrative negligence and possible treason that stood by and watched 4 brave Americans, including an Ambassador get murdered, in real time, and did nothing about it, except fallaciously blame the attack on a video no one has seen.

I question the timing. And, I’m not the only one.

Fox News Military Expert, Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters does, also:

The timing is just too perfect for the Obama administration. Just as the administration claimed it was purely coincidence that our Benghazi consulate was attacked on the anniversary of September 11th. Now it’s purely coincidence that this affair — extra-marital affair — surfaces right after the election, not before, but right after, but before the intelligence chiefs go to Capitol Hill to get grilled. As an old intelligence analyst, Neil, the way I read this — I could be totally wrong, this is my interpretation — is that the administration was unhappy with Petraeus not playing ball 100% on their party-line story. I think it’s getting cold feet about testifying under oath on their party-line story. And I suspect that these tough Chicago guys knew about this affair for a while, held it in their back pocket until they needed to play the card.

I don’t like conspiracy theories, I may be totally wrong, but the timing of this, again, right after the election and right before Petraeus is supposed to get grilled on Capitol Hill, it’s really smells.

Yes, sir. You’re absolutely right.

As with the Iranian Drone Attack, it’s as if the Administration thinks that the citizens it is supposed to be protecting, and paying their salaries, are nothing but a bunch of sheep, who will believe anything they tell us.

By now, you newer readers are saying, KJ, you say you’re a Christian. Doesn’t the Bible say to obey your leaders?

Yes, it does, But, there is an often-overlooked addendum:

6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.

7a Render to all what is due them: b tax to whom tax is due; c custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Romans 13:6-7

The underlined verses are the part that this Administration ignores, to their own peril…and ours.

As I wrote yesterday, this Administration reminds me of the old Soviet Union.

And, we know what happened to them.

Mr. President, tear down this wall…of disinformation.

The New Pravda

I remember growing up in the 1960s, during the Cold War. Every news story that came out of Russia, through their state-controlled News Service, Pravda, was a lie. Lie after lie, told in such a brazen fashion, that if you did not have access to other news sources, you would have sworn it was the truth.

Every lie that was told, was told with the express purpose of masking the inner corruption of the Politboro, or Government, of the Soviet Union, which in turn was designed to reinforce the pablum that they fed their working-class citizens, or the Proletariat.

Since the ascent to the presidency of William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, thanks to the New Media, it has become more and more apparent that the United States of America has a Pravda of its own: The Main Stream Media.

Self-identified “Broadcast and Print Journalists” foresook the ideology of objectivity for subjectivity a long time ago. The main reason Americans began to notice was the advent of cable and satellite television, and, later, the World Wide Web.

In the past, the MSM would only interject themselves overtly, every now and then, as in the case of Dan Rather’s blatant falsification of George W. Bush’s National Guard Service Records.

Heck, ol’ Dan was a novice compared to this generation of journalists...propagandists.

From the very beginnings of Barack Hussein Obama’s collegiate career, on through his entry into Illinois state Politics, and on up to his re-election as President of the United States, these journalists have turned a blind eye to every shady deal the Manchurian President was ever involved in.

The questions remain, though.

How did Obama come up with the money to attend Columbia, Occidental, and fergoshsake’s Hahvahd? Why did he make an undocumented trip to Pock-ee-stahn during these years? How did a mediocre student at best become the Editor of the Harvard Law Review, without writing one paper?

Then there’s his Illinois Senate career. Why did all of his Democrat opponents have to drop out of the race? Why did he vote present so many times? Who was behind his push to prominence? What was the full extent of his relationship to “Bomber” Bill Ayers, ‘just a guy from the neighborhood”, who wrote “Dreams of My Father” for him?

When he ran for the US Senate, why did George Soros provide his finances? How did the “personal scandals” of his opponents Blair Hull and Jack Ryan get leaked to the MSM, and what did David Axlerod have to do with it? Why did Obama miss 24% of 1,300 roll call votes?

After 1 1/2 years in the Senate, Obama declared his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States. Who financed him before and after he received the nomination? What did ACORN/SEIU have to do with it? Who and where did all those unaccounted for small foreign donations come from?

When he was inaugurated, why did he screw up the Oath of Office to the extent that he had to re-take it that evening? Why was his first major speech in a foreign venue an address to the Muslim World? Why is it like pulling teeth to get him to refer to Muslim Terrorists as Muslim Terrorists?

Fast forward to BenghaziGate…Why did he place an openly gay Ambassador in a Muslim country , where they behead people for that? What was Amb. Steven’s doing in Benghazi that day? Why didn’t Obama save those 4 Americans? Why is he continuing to lie about the cause of the attacks of 9/11/12, still insisting that an un-watched video caused the attacks?

Why is the MSM not investigating BenghaziGate? For that matter why did we just find out about this?

Two Iranian Su-25 fighter jets fired on an unarmed U.S. Air Force Predator drone in the Persian Gulf on November 1, the Pentagon disclosed on Thursday.

The incident, reported first by CNN, raised fresh concerns within the Obama administration about Iranian military aggression in crucial Gulf oil shipping lanes.

The drone was on routine maritime surveillance in international airspace east of Kuwait, 16 miles off the coast of Iran, U.S. officials said. The Predator was not hit.

“Our aircraft was never in Iranian airspace. It was always flying in international air space. The recognized limit is 12 nautical miles off the coast and we never entered the 12 nautical mile limit,” Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said in responding to questions from reporters after CNN reported the incident.

Little said the United States believed this was the first time an unmanned aircraft was shot at by the Iranians in international waters over the Gulf. In December of 2011, a U.S. surveillance drone crashed in eastern Iran. Iranians claimed to have shot it down, and created a toy model of the drone to celebrate its capture.

Little stopped short of calling the incident an act of war although the Pentagon was concerned.

Gosh. Do you think that the MSM held onto the story until after the election?

Is Michelle Obama proud of her country…again?

Oh, about that re-election, it now being reported in several states, that more people voted than were on the Voters’ Registration Rolls.

Don’t hold your breath waiting on an in-depth investigation of this.

The MSM have an Inauguration to cover.

The Aftermath: Reagan Conservatives Catching It…From Both Sides

Remember the theme from the original Poseidon Adventure, There’s Got to Be a Morning After, sung by Maureen McGovern? If you’re as old as me, you do.

The morning after, or, the aftermath of Barack Hussein Obama’s (mm mmm mmmm) re-election victory, found on the Internet, was a strange mixture of accusations, jubilation, and condemnation.

The condemnation was directed at American Values Voters, otherwise known as Reagan Conservatives. What boggled my mind, and I guess that it should not have, was the fact that the insults were coming from Democrats, and self-proclaimed Republicans.

Those “Republicans” call themselves “Fiscal Conservatives”. They claim to believe in 2 out of the 3 tenets (stool legs) of the three-legged stool of Reagan Conservatism: Fiscal Conservatism and Strong National Defense. They believe that embracing Social Conservatism is passe and will not win a national election.

You should have read the litany of condemnation I read, directed toward Social Conservatives yesterday, on Conservative websites. The insults went something like this:

SoCons need to just shut up and go away.  You guys are a bunch of busybodies. You’re a bunch of senile, old dinosaurs. You add nothing to the Party, and your antique belief system should never be a part of the Republican Party Platform.

No one cares about abortion, gay marriage, or Benghazi!

We can win elections without you!

Uh huh. Tell you what, Cletus. Check out the map in the upper left corner. All that Red area is where Conservatives, including Reagan Conservatives, voted. The Blue Areas belong to the Liberal Democrats.

Passe? Not hardly.

I’d like to ask three things. then, Sparky, being the curious old codger that I am:

1. Without embracing the same Judeo-Christian Values System that our Founders believed in, how can you be sure that you are making the correct fixcal decisions for our country and its people? By relying on your own limited knowledge?  “A fool and his money are soon parted” – Dr. John Bridges

2.When you guys say that Republicans need to “have a ‘Big Tent’, embrace diversity, and show that we are just as tolerant as the Democrats, in order to win over voters”, that tolerance somehow doesn’t seem to extend to Reagan Conservatives and/or Evangelicals. Isn’t that called “Hypocrisy”?

3. By not embracing a Judeo-Christian Values System, what makes you any different than the Liberal Democrats? Knowing how to save money? Heck, the Liberals know how to save money. They just don’t want to.

4. Wasn’t the Republican Presidential Candidate this year a Fiscal Conservative…and a Liberal on Social Issues? By all accounts, he’s a true gentleman. However, he received less votes than RINO John McCain did….against a worse president than Jimmy Carter was.

You can’t sit on a two-legged stool.

Reagan Conservatism is still very relevant.

Let’s look at quotes released, after the election, from two of my favorite Reagan Conservatives, who just happen to be Christians…and female.

First, here’s Michelle Malkin:

Once again, we have our work cut out for us. We lost this election, but we still live in the greatest country on the planet and we still have many ways to fight for and defend it.

My counsel to you tonight: Please, do not be bitter. Do not fall prey to the Beltway blame game. Do not get mired in small things. Do not become vengeful creatures like our political opponents who voted out of spite instead of love of country.

We still have boundless blessings to count — and to secure.

I remain a proud, unrepentant believer in the American Dream. And I know you do, too. Freedom will endure because we will keep fighting for it. We can’t afford not to, friends.

Earlier this evening, when many conservatives on Twitter started despairing, I quoted from Psalm 46:10. Elections come and go. Faith endures:

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.”

Chins up. Stand tall. We’ll fight again tomorrow.

Next, Sarah Palin wrote on her Facebook Page:

America, don’t lose heart. This election is not an “Obama mandate,” nor is it a rejection of conservatism. Unanswered ads like this one running in blue collar swing states defined Romney early on, and the Obama media also piled on with the narrative that Romney would harm the middle class. (As I personally have witnessed, once a bell is rung by a biased media, it’s impossible to un-ring it.) Ironically, it’s Obama’s socialist policies that will destroy America’s working class as he outsources opportunities.

Hang in there, America. Fight for what is right. Don’t look to government or any politician to solve your problems. Government can’t make you happy, healthy, wealthy or wise. Obama is a master at reading the right “soaring” words fed into his teleprompter, but actions speak louder than words. So, hold tight to 2 Corinthians 4:8 because we’re in for a wild ride.

We must survive. United. One nation under God.

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed.” – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9.

As I wrote in yesterday’s Blog:

Conservatives are still the largest political ideology in this country. Don’t believe the garbage that you will be hearing from the Beltway Pundits in the upcoming days. They don’t know you. They are as far-removed from our daily lives as Michelle Obama is from a Thigh Master.

Allow me to leave you with a Bible quote, like those two wonderful Conservative Women did:

Therefore, brothers, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.

– 1 Thessalonians 3:7

Keep the Faith, Americans.

A Divided Nation

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. (Psalm 121:1-5 KJV)

I went to bed last night and tossed and turned for quite a while. I couldn’t believe it. Are Americans idiots? Had they completely given themselves over to Godless avarice? Had they learned nothing from the failed history of the teachings of Karl Marx?

Then, I looked at the Electoral Map this morning.

Brothers and sisters, we live in a divided nation.

Following years of the dumbing down of America’s population (Just look at the ACT/SAT scores.), an emboldening of the Fifth Column treasonous Main Stream Media, and three generations of a growing population of Americans who look to Uncle Sugar for their daily existence, America is divided between the worker Bees and the Drones, the Christians and the Lyin’s, and, unfortunately, the North and the South.

It has taken a while to make the Marx/Alinsky dream come true.  From the time of the Democrat’s Great Society, through Barack Hussein Obama’s Together We thrive (on taxpayers’ money), America has traveled a path of growing dependence on Big Government, horrifyingly similar to that of Europe, now in the throes of an Armaggedon of Class Warfare.

For a year and a half, I worked at a local state-run  Jobs Center, where folks could come in, register with the state, use the computers to find a job they wanted to apply for, and then talk to a counselor, who, 9 times out of 10, qualified or not, would refer them to that employer, in order to reach their quota.

People would also come up there to report how they looked for work, in order to receive their Unemployment Check. It was simple: You have to have contacted three employers, by phone, computer, or person-to-person.

I can’t tell you how many showed up with nothing filled out on their contact sheet, and then got mad when we told them they had to have it filled out. They then, sat down at a table and made contacts up, in order to continue to receive “their benefits”.

Heck, during the summer, you would have generations of families from small towns in Northwest Mississippi carpool in together. While they would be waiting to be seen, they would have a party with friends or family that were up there, getting “their benefits”, also.

But, its not just these professional Moochers (like the First Lady) that voted for the Manchurian President last night. It was those well-meaning, I’m-smarter than-you, I-feel-more-than-you, you-ignorant-redneck-racist-Christianist hick Liberals up in the Northeast corridor, who proudly proclaim on Conservative websites:

Hey, I’m a Moderate!

Trust me. I’ve been fighting them on the Conservative website, hotair.com, since Obama was elected the first time. It was their influence that got Romney-Ryan nominated.

Now, don’t get me wrong: Mitt Romney seems to be , as Rush Limbaugh described him, a gentleman. But, as Rush also said:

Mitt Romney is no Conservative.

And, despite what the Beltway Pundits will proclaim today, America is still a Center-right country.

Just look at all those Red States, sitting squarely in the Heartland of our nation. These states are, to this very moment, populated by hard-working American Christians, loving God and country, and doing their best, against a rising tide, to live by God’s Word, and to continue to uphold the Judeo-Christian Values that this nation was founded upon.

I know, because I am surrounded by them. I work with them everyday. I attend church on Sunday, go to Small Group on Tuesday night, and spend time with them socially. They are my family and friends…and they are just as upset and torqued off, as I am.

The bright side to this monumental stupidity shown by the American people last night is tri-fold:

1. God is still in control. He said it. I believe it. That settles it. You can’t outrun Him and you can’t out-love Him.

2. Conservatives are still the largest political ideology in this country. Don’t believe the garbage that you will be hearing from the Beltway Pundits in the upcoming days. They don’t know you. They are as far-removed from our daily lives as Michelle Obama is from a Thigh Master.

3. We still hold the House of Representatives. We must hold Boehner and the rest of the RINOs’ pedicured feet to the fire. They must hold the line against the, as Victoria Jackson sang, “Communist in the White House”.

As I watch the sun come up once again in Northwest Mississippi, I’m reminded of the words of my sainted Daddy’s favorite Hymn (and mine, as well):

I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross,

and exchange it someday for a crown.

Obama got it wrong back in 2008.

Christian Americans don’t bitterly cling.

We joyfully cling.

Until He comes,

Vote Like Your Freedom Depends On It

Well, here we are:  Election Day 2012. Four years in the making: President Barack Hussein Obama vs. Mitt Romney. At stake: this Sacred  Land, the Shining City on a Hill,  Land Where Our Fathers Died, Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride, the United States of America.

Yes, once again, as Ronald Wilson Reagan said in 1964, it is A Time For Choosing:

The Founding Fathers knew a government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.

Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, “What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power.” But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector.

Yet any time you and I question the schemes of the do-gooders, we’re denounced as being opposed to their humanitarian goals. It seems impossible to legitimately debate their solutions with the assumption that all of us share the desire to help the less fortunate. They tell us we’re always “against,” never “for” anything.

We are for a provision that destitution should not follow unemployment by reason of old age, and to that end we have accepted Social Security as a step toward meeting the problem. However, we are against those entrusted with this program when they practice deception regarding its fiscal shortcomings, when they charge that any criticism of the program means that we want to end payments….

We are for aiding our allies by sharing our material blessings with nations which share our fundamental beliefs, but we are against doling out money government to government, creating bureaucracy, if not socialism, all over the world.

We need true tax reform that will at least make a start toward I restoring for our children the American Dream that wealth is denied to no one, that each individual has the right to fly as high as his strength and ability will take him…. But we can not have such reform while our tax policy is engineered by people who view the tax as a means of achieving changes in our social structure….

Have we the courage and the will to face up to the immorality and discrimination of the progressive tax, and demand a return to traditional proportionate taxation? . . . Today in our country the tax collector’s share is 37 cents of -very dollar earned. Freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp.

Are you willing to spend time studying the issues, making yourself aware, and then conveying that information to family and friends? Will you resist the temptation to get a government handout for your community? Realize that the doctor’s fight against socialized medicine is your fight. We can’t socialize the doctors without socializing the patients. Recognize that government invasion of public power is eventually an assault upon your own business. If some among you fear taking a stand because you are afraid of reprisals from customers, clients, or even government, recognize that you are just feeding the crocodile hoping he’ll eat you last.

If all of this seems like a great deal of trouble, think what’s at stake. We are faced with the most evil enemy mankind has known in his long climb from the swamp to the stars. There can be no security anywhere in the free world if there is no fiscal and economic stability within the United States. Those who ask us to trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state are architects of a policy of accommodation.

They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. Winston Churchill said that “the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits-not animals.” And he said, “There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

President Ronald Reagan also said:

If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.

President Barack Hussein Obama once said, on 6/28/2006:

Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus which suggests slavery is okay? Or we can go with Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount? A passage that is so radical that it’s doubtful that our Defense Department would survive its application. Folks haven’t been reading the bible.

In April of 2008, Obama said at a fundraiser:

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

President Barack Hussein Obama recently said in front of the UN, while lying about the cause of the attack and murder of four Americans on 9/11/12, at the Consulate in Benghazi, Libya:

The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.

Is this what you want for our country’s future? Your Freedom of Speech, your Freedom of Religion, regulated by the State, as it is in Canada, where Christian Pastors are arrested for speaking their minds from the pulpit? Do you want the Greatest Country on God’s Green Earth reduced to the status of another Greece, with rioting in the streets? Or, another Venezuela, where a dictator gets re-elected by “98 per cent”? Do you want a country where “Honor Killings” of teenage girls are covered under Sharia Law?

I don’t. I stand with America’s Pastor, Rev. Billy Graham, who recently wrote:

The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great nation is crucial. As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.

Amen, Reverend, Amen.

One Day to Go

One day to go, until the most important election in our lifetimes.

Yesterday was a busy day for the candidates. AP.News.myway.com reports

Two days from judgment by the voters, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney raced across competitive battleground states on Sunday, stressing differences on the economy, health care and more while professing a willingness to work across party lines to end gridlock in Washington.

“You have the power,” Obama, the most powerful political leader in the world, told thousands of cheering supporters in New Hampshire as the race moved toward a close finish.

Boos from Romney’s partisans in Cleveland turned to appreciative laughter when the Republican nominee began a sentence by saying, “If the president were to be elected,” and ended it with, “It’s possible but not likely.”

After a campaign than began more than a year ago, late public opinion polls were unpredictably tight for the nationwide popular vote. But they suggested an advantage for the president in the state-by-state competition for electoral votes that will settle the contest.

Conceding nothing, Romney set his first foray of the fall into Pennsylvania. The state last voted for a Republican presidential candidate in 1988, but the challenger and his allies began advertising heavily in the campaign’s final days.

” He’s offering excuses. I’ve got a plan” to fix the economy. “I can’t wait for us to get started,” Romney said in a new television commercial, possibly the last of the campaign, as he appeared in Iowa, Ohio, and Virginia as well as Pennsylvania.

In Des Moines, he said he would meet regularly with “good men and women on both sides of the aisle” in Congress. Later, in Cleveland, he said of Obama, “Instead of bridging the divide, he’s made it wider.”

Obama had New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio and Colorado in his sights for the day, and judging from the polls, a slight wind at his back. So much so that one conservative group cited a string of surveys that favor the president as it emailed an urgent plea for late-campaign donations so it could end his time in the White House.

In New Hampshire, the president said he wants to work across party lines, but said he won’t give up priorities such as college financial aid or the health care law he pushed through Congress.

“That’s not a price I’m willing to pay,” he said, a reference to Romney’s frequent pledge to dismantle the health law that Republicans derided as “Obamacare.”

The two rivals and their running mates flew from state to state as the last of an estimated 1 million campaign commercials were airing in a costly attempt to influence a diminishing pool of voters.

More than 27 million ballots have been cast in 34 states and the District of Columbia, although none will be counted until Election Day on Tuesday.

Nearly 4 million of them were deposited by Floridians, and Democrats cited unprecedented demand for pre-election day voting as they filed a lawsuit demanding an extension of available time.

As you go to the polls tomorrow, watch for garbage like the following, and report it:

Friday afternoon at an early polling place located at 6719 W. Montgomery Road in Houston, NAACP members were seen advocating for President Barack Obama according to volunteer poll watchers on location at the time.

According to Eve Rockford, a poll watcher trained by voter integrity group True the Vote, three NAACP members showed up to the 139 precinct location with 50 cases of bottled water and began handing bottles out to people standing in line. While wearing NAACP labeled clothing, members were “stirring the crowd” and talking to voters about flying to Ohio to promote President Barack Obama.

After watching what was occurring, Rockford approached Polling Supervisor Rose Cochran about what she was seeing.

“I went to the polling supervisor and let her know that it was not appropriate that they were in the building handing out water. She ignored me. I repeated my statement. She told me that she would handle it. She did nothing. I then went to the assistant supervisor and he stood up, walked over to another table and then sat down. I then walked into the waiting room and they were reloading another dolly with more cases of water,” Rockford said in a True the Vote incident report.

After handing out water and advocating for President Obama, the NAACP members started handpicking and moving people to the front of a long voting line inside the polling place according to the incident report. After multiple complaints from voters about the line cutting, Rockford received a phone call from downtown telling her to “stand down.”

“All of the sudden one of the clerks, Dayan Cohen, said that someone wanted to speak to me on the phone. It was someone from downtown. I got on the phone and she said she was from downtown and that I needed to stand down and that it was okay for the NAACP to be within 100 ft. and they could hand out water. I told her that the NAACP was inside the building, wearing the NAACP clothing and caps and were handing out water and moving people from the back of the lines to the front of the lines,” Rockford said.

At this point, NAACP members were instructed to turn their clothing inside out, which they refused to do and said they weren’t going to stop their actions inside the polling place. Their behavior and actions to move people to the front of the line continued for the rest of the evening. Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner, a former Texas NAACP leader, was also seen outside the building talking with voters.

“The NAACP basically ran this poll location and the judges did nothing about it,” Rockford said.

I’ve got a funny feeling that the Democrats will pull whatever they can to get Barack Hussein Obama in office.  However, it will do them no good. The American people are determined to save our country.

“Love of Country” Trumps “Revenge”…Every Time

Soon-to-be Former President Barack Hussein Obama went off of the teleprompter again Friday night…and, really put his foot it.

The Daily Mail has the story:

Aides to Barack Obama are defending his remark that ‘voting is the best revenge’ by saying it was made in the context of Mitt Romney’s ads about Jeep jobs – even though the transcript shows the president had not mentioned the ads.

Speaking at Springfield High School in Ohio on Friday, Obama hailed former President Bill Clinton, saying that ‘his economic plan asked the wealthiest Americans to pay a little bit more so we could continue to invest in our people, continue to invest in ideas and innovation, invest in our infrastructure’.

When he added: ‘And at the time the Republican Congress and a Senate candidate by the name of Mitt Romney’ the audience of some 2,800 began to boo.

Obama responded with the standard ad lib he uses when crowds boo Romney on Republicans: ‘No, no, no. Don’t boo – vote. Vote!’ Then he added: ‘Voting is the best revenge.’

In just five words, Obama handed Romney a potentially significant opportunity in the waning days of the campaign.

The utterance has underlined why every Obama campaign speech is tightly scripted and delivered using a teleprompter.

The ‘voting is the best revenge’ slip was virtually the only time during the speech that Obama ventured away from the script he saw before him on the teleprompter.

Put on the spot about the remark, which has been seized on by Romney and turned into an attack ad by his campaign, Jen Psaki, Obama’s travelling campaign spokeswoman, said – according to a White House pool report – that Obama had been speaking in the context of Romney’s ‘scare tactics’ in Ohio.

The Republican nominee was ‘frightening workers in Ohio into thinking, falsely, that they’re not going to have a job’, she said.

‘And the message he [Obama] was sending is if you don’t like the policies, if you don’t like the plan that Gov. Romney is putting forward, if you think that’s a bad deal for the middle class, then you can go to the voting booth and cast your ballot. It’s nothing more complicated than that.’

But a transcript posted on the White House shows that Obama was not speaking in the context of Romney’s controversial ads about Chrysler, bailed out by the U.S. government, adding production of Jeeps in China.

Obama has not mentioned the Jeep issue when he talked about ‘revenge’. Rather, he had spoken about Hurricane Sandy, the U.S. economy, national security and Clinton’s record.

Revenge for what, Scooter? For Americans finally figuring out who and what you are?

What did the Republican Challenger, Mitt Romney, say about that?

Something presidential.

Did you see what President Obama said today?” Mitt Romney asked the crowd of 30,000 at his evening rally. “He asked his supporters to vote ‘for revenge’–‘for revenge.’ Instead, I ask the American people to vote for love of country.

Love of country…what a novel idea.

President John F. Kennedy understood this:

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility – I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.

Kathie Lee Bates understood “ove of country”, also, when she penned “American the Beautiful” and wrote this verse:

O beautiful for heroes proved

In liberating strife,

Who more than self their country loved,

And mercy more than life!

America! America! May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness,

And ev’ry gain divine!

On May 15, 1800, Pastor Joseph McKeen spoke the following words as part of a speech given before a joint session of Congress:

Good example acts with the greater effect, because it reproves without upbraiding, and teaches us to correct our faults without giving us the mortification of knowing that any but ourselves, have ever observed them. We feel the force of counsel or persuasion much more sensibly, when we see that one does what he advises or requires us to do. But the best counsel from one, who obeys not his own precepts, nor practices upon the principles of his own advice, will generally be little regarded. We do not believe a man to be in earnest, who advises one thing, and does the contrary.

To resist the progress of irreligion, injustice, luxury, selfishness, and an impatience of legal restraint, is a duty imposed by patriotism. And I hope my much respected hearers feel their obligation to recommend by their own example piety, justice, economy, public spirit, an attachment to our constitutions, and a cheerful submission to the laws, as essential to our political happiness.

I wonder what Pastor McKeen would think about the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

I know what America’s Pastor, Rev. Billy Graham, thinks about Tuesday’s Election:

On Nov. 6, the day before my 94th birthday, our nation will hold one of the most critical elections in my lifetime. We are at a crossroads and there are profound moral issues at stake. I strongly urge you to vote for candidates who support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman, protect the sanctity of life and defend our religious freedoms. The Bible speaks clearly on these crucial issues. Please join me in praying for America, that we will turn our hearts back toward God.

Which candidate do you think best represents America’s Judeo-Christian values and tradition?

I know who I am voting for.

2 more days!

A Tale of Two Hurricanes

Besides the Presidential Election, the big news story this week has been Hurricane Sandy.

The New York Daily News reports that

The massive storm that started out as Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast and morphed into a huge and problematic system, killing at least 74 people in the United States. Power outages now stand at more than 5.6 million homes and businesses, down from a peak of 8.5 million.

And if incidents like the following continue to happen, it may take a while to get powers restored…

Angry residents pelted utility crews with eggs as they tried to restore power in Bridgeport, Conn., after the mayor claimed the local power company had “shortchanged” the state’s largest city as it tries to recover from superstorm Sandy.

United Illuminating workers reported eggs and other objects being thrown at them a day after Mayor Bill Finch said the utility was taking care of wealthy suburbs while his constituents suffered. The unrest caused United Illuminating to pull its workers out until the city agreed to provide police protection.

“Citizens began throwing things at the crews,” Michael West, a spokesman for United Illuminating, told FoxNews.com. “It started to get pretty hairy. They did not feel safe.”

West said it started with verbal abuse and escalated.

“It started to get pretty hairy. They did not feel safe.”

– Michael West, spokesman for United Illuminating

“We communicated with the city and said if you don’t provide police support, we can’t have our crews there in harm’s way,” he said.

But, the power companies themselves aren’t helping the situation, either…

A business coordinator at a power company in western Georgia told The Daily Caller Friday afternoon that workers from his electric-utility employer were not permitted to help restore power to New York consumers because they would not join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

The revelation comes on the heels of similar stories TheDC has reported about power crews from Alabama and Florida who volunteered to fix downed power lines after Hurricane Sandy left millions in the Northeastern United States in the dark this week.

“We’re not a large utility, so we were only able to send up two or three crews,” Glenn Cunningham, a business continuity coordinator with Diverse Power in LaGrange, Georgia, said in a phone interview.

Then, there was the matter of Mayor Bloomberg’s insistence on holding the New York Marathon and allocating resources for it that were needed elsewhere:

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and organizers of New York City Marathon cancelled the race Friday amid growing concerns that holding the event would divert resources from cleanup efforts in the wake of superstorm Sandy.

Mr. Bloomberg had said as recently as early Friday afternoon that the marathon, scheduled to start Sunday morning, would go on and serve as a demonstration that the city was recovering from the storm and moving forward.

But other elected officials from around the city said holding it so soon after a major storm would be an insult to hard-hit residents still cleaning up and worried that it would get in the way of recovering from a storm that killed at least 41 people in New York City alone.

“We would not want a cloud to hang over the race or its participants, and so we have decided to cancel it,” Mr. Bloomberg and the organizers said in a joint news release. “We cannot allow a controversy over an athletic event—even one as meaningful as this—to distract attention away from all the critically important work that is being done to recover from the storm and get our city back on track.”

At the Jacob Javits Center, where the pre-marathon expo was being held on Friday, volunteers stopped admitting runners for check-in, although long lines still awaited direction organizers.

Mont McClendon, from Lubbock, Texas, said he was “shocked” to learn that the race had canceled, having found the news via Twitter. “Honestly,” he said, “the reason I came here and felt confident is because the mayor said so.”

The debate over whether to hold the race had grown heated Friday. Asked earlier in the day whether discussions were under way about the viability of the race as public pressure mounts, a spokesman for the group that organizes the race, New York Road Runners Club, had said: “The situation is a fluid one and continues to evolve.”

That statement come just hours after Mr. Bloomberg reasserted his support for holding the race.

Several public officials had said holding the race Sunday could drain resources from the city’s recovery efforts. In addition, the leader of the Police Benevolent Association said the department was stretched too thin to facilitate what he called “essentially a citywide party.”

As horrible as the conditions are in the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy are, I can’t even begin to image what would have happened if another Hurricane the size and power of Katrina would have hit that area.

According to the Discovery Channel:

Hurricane Katrina was one of the deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States, killing over 1,800 people.

The confirmed death toll (total of direct and indirect deaths) stood at 1,836, mainly from Louisiana (1,577) and Mississippi (238). However, 705 people remain categorized as missing in Louisiana, so this number is not final. Many of the deaths are indirect. It is almost impossible to determine the exact cause of some of the fatalities.

Katrina was the largest hurricane of its strength to approach the United States in recorded history; its sheer size caused devastation over 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the storm’s center. The storm surge caused major or catastrophic damage along the coastlines of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, including the cities of Mobile, Ala., Biloxi and Gulfport, Miss., and Slidell, La.

Katrina was the 11th named storm, fifth hurricane, third major hurricane and second category 5 hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. It was also the sixth strongest hurricane ever recorded, and the third strongest hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. ever recorded.

New Orleans’ levee failures were found to be primarily the result of system design flaws, combined with the lack of adequate maintenance. According to an investigation by the National Science Foundation, those responsible for the conception, design, construction and maintenance of the region’s flood-control system apparently failed to pay sufficient attention to public safety.

Hurricane Katrina was the costliest hurricane in U.S. history, with $75 billion in estimated damages.

Now, I realize that we’re just a bunch of poor, ignorant red-state rednecks down here in Dixie, but we’ve worked hard and have made a major comeback from the monster known as Katrina.

I feel confidant that the Northeast can do the same…if they don’t let the politicians, the unions,  political correctness, and Presidential Photo Ops get in the way.
