Palin’s Not Running. Nothing Has Changed.

By now,  you all know (unless you’ve been living under a rock) that former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin announced on the Mark Levin Show last evening that she would not enter the Republican Presidential Primary.  Here is the written announcement:

October 5, 2011

Wasilla, Alaska

After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.

My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.

From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back – and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it.

I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.

Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.

In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.

Thank you again for all your support. Let’s unite to restore this country!

God bless America.

– Sarah Palin

Needless to say, I’m disappointed.  I wanted Governor Palin in the race, because she is a Conservative, she’s not a Washington Insider,  and because she’s not afraid to speak her mind.

I guess I was being idealistic.  I understand why she chose to do what she did.

This frees her up to continue to be a Conservative voice, speaking truth to power.  She’ll be beholden to no Beltway Power Broker and the path she travels will be her own.

But, where does that leave actual Conservatives?

We’re really only left with 2 choices:  Herman Cain and Texas Governor Rick Perry.

If you like Mitt Romney and think he is a Conservative, I’ll bet you like to be taken snipe hunting, also.

Of the two aforementioned individuals, one has a lot of economic expertise, but no experience in government, which may or may not be a liability, at this point.

Herman Cain is a straight-shooter, and seems to be very effective at making Liberal heads explode, which is quite enjoyable.  However, the question remains, is Herman Cain just the flavor of the month, or can he be an effective Republican Candidate for President?

Then there’s Governor Rick Perry, a good man, who seems to be an effective Governor.

On the down side, he seems to have a blind spot when it comes to the Texas Dream Act, which gives college educations to the children of illegals for the price of a oath of allegiance to this country.

Perry, who started out strong, has faltered during the recent primary debates.  In fact, his popularity has been declining, while Cain’s has been rising.

My fervent hope is that these two men do not cancel each other out, and we wind up with the squishy GOP Elite “Legacy” Mitt Romney.  His triumph in the Republican Primary would ensure that President Barack Hussein Obama would win re-election.

For example, how could Romney challenge Obama in a debate on the passage of the National Health Care law, when he’s the Father of Romneycare? What’s he going to say,

I like mandates, but your mandates are wrong?

Give me a break.

In closing, I’ll repeat what I wrote yesterday about the potential Republican Nominee:

The American Spirit Reagan spoke about 31 years ago is still alive today, regardless of all the efforts in the last few years to extinguish its flame.

If the Republican Presidential Candidate can connect with that Spirit, he/she will win the election.

Leadership like Ronald Reagan’s is what Americans are craving….and only a Conservative president will provide it.

  1. Good job KJ, I am saddened by the news but wake up with a clearer direction this morning. I agree, our job first is to deny Romney the nom. Second job get the jug eared jackass out of office.

I was counting on Palin to run. I saw “The Undefeated” in the theater and just bought the DVD yesterday. I was anxious to see her take on the fatcats in DC like she did in Alaska.

Her announcing this on the day the DVD came out is ironic and only adds salt to the wound.

I’m not hopeful. Hopefully tea party candidates can sweep the House and Senate elections next year.

If she had announced earlier in the day, I wouldn’t have wasted 13 bucks on the DVD. I can’t watch it. It would only infuriate me now.

Her family comes first. They would have mercilessly attacked even more so than before. I really don’t think she wanted that for her family. I am betting that is the biggest reason why she chose not to run. And that is NOT cowardly. If I were her. I would not ever run. Bcs having your family put in that kind of danger is not worth it.

I’m also very disappointed that she’s not running, but I know she won’t just sit down and shut up. I look forward to her continued direct hits on the clay-footed jug-eared jesus.

I like Herman Cain more every day. Saw him on The View the other day, and he handled those snarling liberal hags beautifully!

Newt Gingrich is also looking better and better. Maybe they should team up.

I’m glad she’s not running, and for the reasons you cited. The most important job in the land is no longer POTUS (thanks, Barry). Our most effective leaders lately aren’t our elected officials, but the conservative voices that have awakened the sleeping giant and used sunlight as our nation’s disinfectant.

Sarah will have more power as an independent voice than she could ever have boxed into The White House. She will hold our leaders’ feet to the fire and force real change to get our country out of that ditch (again, thanks Barry).

Heartbroken. I saw no one else out there who had the combination of conservative credentials, love of country, disdain for crony capitalism (or crony socialism) and political experience. I was prepared to work as hard as necessary for her campaign and believed I would have been a single soldier in a mighty army of volunteers for the cause. My stand hasn’t changed. We are on a fast track to hell and must get off. Romney will only slow the descent and I won’t vote for that under any circumstances. Don’t know where to go from here.

I knew she wasn’t running, and in your sober moments I’m sure you all knew, too. The media successfully discredited her, and you cannot run for President without credibility.

Case in point: Obama. He has no credibility to objective thinkers, so the media had to create it. They did so with a myth about his intellect, based on getting elected as the President of the Harvard Law Review and lecturing on constitutional law at the University of Chicago. The record of his otherwise wasted adulthood was pushed to the side and replaced with this myth.

Media is powerful. Use your energies wisely to discredit the propagandists in our media and get their lies out of our lives.

Best wishes to Sarah Palin — she has made an astonishing impact on our politics in a very short time. She is a blessing.

Roger Ailes had a comment about Mrs Palin:

‘I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings’

How much of the adulation thrown at Sarah was a result of her attractiveness?

  9. I’m sad that she’s not running but I do understand why she isn’t.

At this point, I could support Cain but the rest of the field leaves me completely cold.

I liked Perry for a while but his unapologetic support of discounted educations for illegals makes him a less than attractive candidate. It’s not that I don’t understand his situation. I was born in Texas and I work there frequently. I now live in Alabama and we just made some very strong advances in dealing with our illegal immigrant problem. You don’t solve a criminal problem by making things easier for the criminals.

I can’t remember where I first read this but it’s a great argument. Say a guy walks uninvited into my house. He doesn’t steal anything or break anything. He’s a nice guy. He mows my neighbor’s lawn, picks trash up off the street, is just happy to be here and not in the bad neighborhood where he used to live. Am I now obligated to feed and educate his kids?
