Red China, White Ties, and Blue Collars

Did you ever think you would see the day when the President of the United States and the Communist Dictator of Red China would share an intimate dinner at our White House?

Well, last night, President Barack Hussein Obama (mm mmm mmmm) and Chinese President Hu Jintao did exactly that. They were scheduled to talk about very important issues while walking the fine line of appeasement known as diplomacy.

I don’t know if there were candles and violins.

The dinner was held in the Old Family Dining Room in the White House residence. The topics to be discussed included China’s currency, trade and human rights policies, and a search for cooperation on national security. It will be followed tonight with a par-tay, a big blow-out in honor of Hu which illustrates very clearly the Smart Power philosophy of this administration.

Also at the intimate dinner last night were national security adviser Tom Donilon and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Hu was accompanied by two top Chinese officials.  According to the White House, there were no official note-takers at the dinner.  No transcriptions of the discussions were made available to the public.

Tonight’s gala will be a victory for Hu. The perception back home of the U.S. welcoming him in such a warm manner will strengthen his image at home.

The warm welcome started Tuesday afternoon at a wet Andrews Air Force Base, where, upon landing, Hu was greeted by Vice President Joe Biden and a military color guard.

Obama’s (Scooter’s) problem with playing nice with Hu is that he is under pressure from business leaders to human rights advocates to stand up to Beijing.

The White House on Tuesday said that Obama would not wimp out:

Baghdad Bob Gibbs said:

Whether we’re dealing with economic discussions, whether we’re dealing with those in the security realm, or whether we’re doing those with human rights, I think this is an argument that we have and we’ll continue to make to the Chinese and push them to do better.

Just last week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demanded the release of jailed Chinese dissidents, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, who was prevented from attending the Dec. 10 prize ceremony in the Norwegian capital.

Gibbs said yesterday:

That is a topic of some significance that the two leaders will talk about,” Gibbs said. We will continue to have difficult conversations that had to be had with China.

I’m sure.

A must-see moment will happen today as Obama and Hu hold a brief news conference. They will take four questions, two from U.S. journalists and two from Chinese reporters. this news conference is being held at the White House’s insistence.

When he appears in China, Hu is always very scripted.

This afternoon, Obama is going to try to arrange sweetheart deals for all his buddies in industry as he holds a meeting with Hu and U.S. and Chinese business leaders to promote increased U.S. exports to China and greater Chinese investment in the United States. Those lining up at the trough include are CEOs Steve Ballmer of Microsoft, Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, Jeff Immelt of General Electric, Greg Brown of Motorola, Jim McNerney of Boeing and nine other U.S. executives.

And, at the rate things are going, all of the jobs will probably be outsourced.

And, in a completely unrelated story:

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie intimated in an interview, released today, that the long-sought-after, long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Speaking to the Honolulu Star Advertiser, the Governor said that he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president’s chances of re-election in 2012.

Gee, you old Communist. Ya think?

The Honolulu newspaper also asked Abercrombie:

You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. How is that coming?

Abercrombie responded by admitting that the birth certificate issue will have “political implications” for the next presidential election “that we simply cannot have.”

No shinola, Sherlock.

Continuing to suggest that he was still going to produce more birth records on Obama from the Hawaii Department of Health vital records vault, Abercrombie told the newspaper there was a recording of the Obama birth in the state archives that he wants to make public.

Then, why hasn’t he?

There is no doubt that this president and his administration’s approach to Foreign Policy has been an epic failure which, like his domestic policies, has been shaped by his decidedly different upbringing.

Whether or not he was born elsewhere, this president was not raised  as an average American and his worldview was shaped accordingly.  And, as his failed economic policies have shown, that affects us all.

Seriously, I cannot believe BO bowed again. At least that’s what the photo looked like to me when he shook his hand.
    This is disgraceful behavior.
I’m all for China coming into the modern world, but I still don’t understand why we trade with countries that have such flagrant human rights abuses.
    It boggles my mind.

What if Bush had done it? Acting all cozy and lovey-dovey with a leader of a country known for human rights abuses…where are all the woman libbers shouting about the government controlling their bodies and telling them how many children they should have…oh wait…

Barry and Hu make such a cute couple. I wonder what their kids will look like?

Will France feel slighted if Scooter announces that China is our closest and dearest ally?
