My opinions are certainly not the only ones out there.
From the Who Asked You? Department: Six U.N. human rights experts opined Tuesday that Arizona’s new law on illegal immigration could violate international standards that are binding in the United States .
These professional bureaucrats said the basic human rights regulations, signed by the U.S. and many other nations, relate to issues such as discrimination and the terms under which a person can be detained:
A disturbing pattern of legislative activity hostile to ethnic minorities and immigrants has been established with the adoption of an immigration law that may allow for police action targeting individuals on the basis of their perceived ethnic origin.
And, lame duck Governor of California, Ahhhnold Schwarzenegger, tried to make a funny while speaking to graduates at Emory University in Atlanta on Monday:
I was also going to give a graduation speech in Arizona this weekend. But with my accent, I was afraid they would try to deport me.
Very droll, Governor. It’s a shame your day job is being terminated. Maybe you could try out a stand-up routine at The Improv.
Meanwhile, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona is focused on her job. She has signed a bill aimed at an ethnic studies program in a Tucson school district.
According to State schools chief Tom Horne , the district’s ethnic studies program promotes “ethnic chauvinism” and racial resentment toward whites.
The measure prohibits classes that advocate ethnic solidarity, that are designed primarily for students of a particular race or that promote resentment toward a certain ethnic group. The Tucson Unified School District denies its program promotes resentment. (Of couse.)
Out in Morgan hill, California, The School Board held a late night meeting to allow citizens to speak their minds about the incident at Live Oaks High School. In the interest of fairness, they cut the citizens’ speaking times down from 3 minutes each to 2 minutes per speaker.
About 200 people packed the auditorium since it was their first chance to voice their opinions to district leaders.
It’s always been Hispanics versus Caucasians. It’s been like that in our history, we cannot sugarcoat this, said student Teresa Rita Corona.You guys made this segregated by stupidity and ignorance, said parent Teresa Casillas.
I want to see the principal and vice principal fired or you will face legal action, said Gilroy resident Mark Zappa.
I personally am getting very, very tired of disrespect to that flag and what this nation actually stands for, said Morgan Hill resident Lavonne Atnit.
We want an apology for our boys, disciplinary action to be taken to a certain extent, and we want to prevent the same thing from happening all over again, said one of the mothers of a student wearing an American flag t-shirt, Julie Fagerstrom.
These situations have brought a simmering issue to a roiling boil. These two stories have galvanized the feelings Americans have about people who are in our country illegally.

A while back, the following allegorical story went viral. You may have seen this already, but it explains illegal immigration as succinctly as anything I’ve come across:
Let’s pretend I broke into your house. When you discover me there, you insist I leave. But I say, “I’ve made all the beds, washed the dishes, did the laundry, and cleaned the floors; I’ve done all the work you don’t like to do. I’m hardworking and honest (except for breaking into your house). Not only must you let me stay, you must also add me to your insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide these benefits to my husband, too (he will do your yardwork, he’s honest and hardworking too–except for that breaking in part). If you try to force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house and proclaim my right to be there! It’s only fair, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m trying to better myself. I’m hardworking and honest…except for, well, you know. I will live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness and prejudice.
Oh yeah, I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

I’m absolutely certain if I were detained for anything here where I live the police would be wanting to see my passport. Why isn’t the UN bureaucracy up in arms about that?
As for making English the official language of the United States: No!

I agree with the UN. Open borders should be the norm everywhere. AND vacation is a human right. Now let’s give all of our undocumented workers one-way tickets to Belgium for an open-ended holiday.

..possibly tangential, but in the clip you posted, are those the Hispanic protesters surrounding and confronting the handicapped guy in the wheel chair?
I certainly hope not and to be fair, one does not know what the wheelchair guy was shouting/saying to them, but you would think that the belligerent kids would know better than surround the guy like that and torment him..
..irrespective of the views of each.
The B&E analogy is precious, old son, I love it because it is so-o-o-o-o-o appropriate. And, yes, put me down as supporting the extended holiday for illegal immigrants of any cultural/racial background in Belgium.

The numbers don’t lie. A huge percentage of Americans see through all the political correctness and faux sympathy their leaders have forced upon them in regard to the illegals. I love the “simmering to a roiling boil” phrase, KJ because that best describes the emotional awakening that is spreading daily across the fruited plains. I think in the past, Americans in general have neatly tucked away their patriotic fervor in favor of a quiet acceptance of the illegals and the baggage that comes with them. But those days are behind us now. The red, white and blue is beginning to flow freely through our veins…
