Newsmax.com reports that
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday that Congress will establish an independent, Sept. 11-style commission to look into the deadly insurrection that took place at the U.S. Capitol.
Pelosi said the commission will “investigate and report on the facts and causes relating to the Jan. 6, 2021, domestic terrorist attack upon the United States Capitol Complex … and relating to the interference with the peaceful transfer of power.”
In a letter to Democratic colleagues, Pelosi said the House will also put forth supplemental spending to boost security at the Capitol.
After former President Donald Trump’s acquittal at his second Senate impeachment trial, bipartisan support appeared to be growing for an independent commission to examine the deadly insurrection.
Investigations into the riot were already planned, with Senate hearings scheduled later this month in the Senate Rules Committee. Pelosi, D-Calif., asked retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré to lead an immediate review of the Capitol’s security process.
In her letter Monday, Pelosi said, “It is clear from his findings and from the impeachment trial that we must get to the truth of how this happened.”
She added, “As we prepare for the Commission, it is also clear from General Honoré’s interim reporting that we must put forth a supplemental appropriation to provide for the safety of Members and the security of the Capitol.”
Lawmakers from both parties, speaking on Sunday’s news shows, signaled that even more inquiries were likely. The Senate verdict Saturday, with its 57-43 majority falling 10 votes short of the two-thirds needed to convict Trump, hardly put to rest the debate about the Republican former president’s culpability for the Jan. 6 assault.
“There should be a complete investigation about what happened,” said Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy, one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Trump. “What was known, who knew it and when they knew, all that, because that builds the basis so this never happens again.”
An independent commission along the lines of the one that investigated the Sept. 11 attacks would probably require legislation to create. That would elevate the investigation a step higher, offering a definitive government-backed accounting of events. Still, such a panel would pose risks of sharpening partisan divisions or overshadowing President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda.
“There’s still more evidence that the American people need and deserve to hear and a 9/11 commission is a way to make sure that we secure the Capitol going forward,” said Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., a Biden ally. “And that we lay bare the record of just how responsible and how abjectly violating of his constitutional oath President Trump really was.”
Uh huh.
What a bunch of garbage.
Meanwhile, on the “other side” of the political aisle”…
Several Republican congressmen sent a letter Monday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., demanding answers to what she knew concerning security decisions leading up to and including the day of the siege on the Capitol on Jan. 6.
The letter to Pelosi – sent by Reps. Rodney Davis, R-Ill.; Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; James Comer, R-Ky.; and Devin Nunes, R-Calif. – said “many important questions about your responsibility for the security of the Capitol remain unanswered. As you are aware, the Speaker of the House is not only the leader of the majority party, but also . . . is responsible for all operational decisions made within the House.”
The GOP representatives said there were many calls from both Democrats and Republicans following the riot for a full bipartisan and bicameral review. But instead, the Republicans charged, Pelosi took actions “in a partisan manner without any consultation of House Republicans and therefore raise questions about the political motivations of your decisions.”
One example of an unanswered question the letter points out were claims made by former Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund that he requested assistance of the National Guard from the sergeants at arms Jan. 4, two days before the riot. Sund said in a letter to Pelosi last month, the former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he was concerned about “the optics” and did not feel the “intelligence supported it.”
Fox News reported Pelosi’s office responded the security of the Capitol and democracy are “not the priorities of these ranking members,” while saying “the Committees of Jurisdiction were briefed in advance of Jan. 6 about security preparedness.”
“Questions” indeed.
Now, boys and girls, I’m just spit-balling here, but there a several things that just do not add up in Pelosi and the Democrats’ version of what happened on January 6, 2021.
Information has come out that the “insurrection” was pre-planned. An allegation proven by the fact that pipe bombs were planted and found before the end of President Trump’s speech that day.
Also, the “rioters” were already “storming” the Capitol while Trump was still speaking.
And, why, as seen in the tweet above, did she block the request for 10,000 National Guard Troops from President Trump, himself?
Oh, and why did the police officers guarding the Capital Building let the rioters in?
By the way, of the two hundred fifty people, out of the tens of thousands who were at Trump’s Speech, arrested for their actions that day, they are finding nut jobs who DID NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP.
In fact, they did not even vote in the 2020 Presidential Election.
Y’know, Pelosi sure is reticent to talk about her duties as Speaker of the House as they pertain to the “insurrection”.
I hope that I do not sound like a conspiracy theorist, but…what if the entire “insurgence” on January 6th was not just preplanned but it was a political frame job by Pelosi and the Democrat Elite.
Come to think of it, my supposition is not that far-fetched when you consider the same crowd attempted to unconstitutionally impeach a private citizen simply because they were overcome with Trump Derangement Syndrome and they did not want to him to be able to run for President again in 2024 or be involved in politics in any way.
And, now those same professional politicians are going to to provide cover for themselves with a “9/11-Style Commission”, once again going after a private citizen in a vendetta which the entire nation has already recognized to be wrong and not important to the needs of our country and her people .
To quote the late John Lennon, “Strange days, indeed”.
Until He Comes,
