The Charleston Church Massacre: When Gun Control Fails, Blame the Confederate Flag

CharlestonThe aftermath of last Wednesday Night’s Massacre at Emanuel AME Church in Charlotte continues…

FoxNews.com reports that

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said on Sunday he wouldn’t be “baited” into the politically charged Confederate flag debate in South Carolina, joining a group of fellow GOP White House contenders that says the state must decide.

“Everyone’s being baited with this question as if somehow that has anything to do whatsoever with running for president,” Huckabee, a 2008 presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “My position is it most certainly does not.”

Fellow GOP candidate and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum took a similar position.

“We should let the people of South Carolina go through the process of making this decision,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Their remarks came a day after GOP presidential hopeful Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker also said South Carolina should decide whether to allow the Confederate battle flag to fly above the capital grounds.

Walker also said he would honor a request by Gov. Nikki Haley, a Republican, to reserve comment on whether the flag is a symbol of racism.

He said he would wait until after the funerals for the nine black people fatally shot Wednesday by a white man in a historic African-American church in Charleston, S.C. — the incident that re-ignited the flag controversy.

South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott, one of only two black U.S. senators, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that he also would wait until after the funerals to comment.

Flag supporters say it is a symbol of Confederate and southern heritage while critics argued it is a relic of white supremacy.

In 2000, civil right activists got the flag removed from inside the South Carolina statehouse and from atop the capitol dome. However, the flag still flies on the capital grounds in Columbia, S.C.

The controversy has since become an issue in presidential campaign politics, in large part because South Carolina is one of three early-voting states in which defeat or even a poor showing can end a White House bid.

“I don’t think you could say that the presence of one lunatic racist, who everybody in this country feels contempt for, and no one is defending, is somehow evidence of the people of South Carolina,” Huckabee also said Sunday, regarding the church tragedy and alleged shooter Dylann Roof. “I don’t personally display it anywhere, that’s the issue for the people of South Carolina.”

He also said that voters don’t want the presidential candidates to “weigh in on every little issue in all 50 states that might be an important issue to the people of those states, but it’s not on the desk of the president.”

On Saturday, GOP presidential candidate and senior GOP South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said the flag is “part of who we are,” while acknowledging it might be “time to revisit” the decision to allow it to fly over the state capitol grounds.

The same day, another Republican presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, touted what his state did in 2001 about the flag, a year after the South Carolina decision.

“In Florida, we acted, moving the flag from the state grounds to a museum where it belonged,” he said in a statement. “I’m confident [South Carolina] will do the right thing.”

Also this weekend, 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney called for the flag to be removed from the state capitol grounds.

“To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred,” he tweeted. “Remove it now to honor #Charlestonvictims.”

First off, boys and girls. how does denying a part of Southern History and Heritage honor the innocent Christian American Victims of a madman?

Do all of these Liberals, and spineless Republicans, “Mittens” included, actually know…or care…to learn the truth about the “Stars and Bars”?

Not all of the Republicans are spineless, though. Some actually have the guts to make sense on the subject.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told The Associated Press in a statement that the last thing the people of the southern state need is “people from outside of the state coming in and dictating how they should resolve it.”

The presidential candidate said he understands both sides of the debate – including those who see the flag as a symbol of “racial oppression and a history of slavery” and “those who want to remember the sacrifices of their ancestors and the traditions of their states – not the racial oppression, but the historical traditions.”

It has been absolutely amazing…and disappointing to watch the reaction of Professional Politicians, Pundits, and Provocateurs, in the aftermath of the savage mass murder of 9 innocent Christian Americans, who were participating in Wednesday Night’s Service in Emanuel AME Church in the heart of Charleston, NC.

First, Al Sharpton scurried his race-baiting as…err…self to Charleston, searching for the nearest camera…and deep pocketbook. Then, Gerry Rivers (Geraldo Rivera), took the Redeye Flight on in, continuing his never-ending quest to somehow regain some relevancy…and to make Americans forget about Al Capone’s Vault.

Meanwhile, all of the self-serving politicians started to chime in.

Obama, with his whining about Gun Control, energized his Hive-Mind Base, who immediately hit the Internet, including Facebook, with all sorts of stupid blogs and memes, attempting to buoy the rapidly-sinking Ship of State, the USS(R) Obama.

Seeing that Americans still were not buying into the Marxist-inspired Gun Control Scenario, they then, in their increasing frustration, as they watched the Christians of Charleston band together, as human shields, preventing them from making any political hay over this senseless violence, turned their attention to another lost cause, the attempted removal of the Confederate Battle Flag as the State Flag of South Carolina.

Why? Because, they are shrieking, Mittens included, that…THAT FLAG IS RAAACIIIST!

Did I miss something? Did a flag flown in the War Between the States, some 150 years ago, somehow come to life, and malevolently and maliciously murder 9  Christian Black Americans, last Wednesday Night, during their Church Service?

Why…no. A young sociopath did.

So, why are Liberals on both sides of the aisle, focusing on this, instead of the problem of how America deals with those struggling with mental illness?

Simple: Deflection.

Liberal Democrats are deflecting attention away from their failures, including their biggest one, who currently saunters down to the Oval Office at 10:30 a.m. every weekday, and puts his feet up on the desk.

Liberals Republicans are attempting to stay relevant, by sucking up to Liberal Democrats.

Republican Presidential Hopefuls are scared to death that they might say something wrong.

Meanwhile, American Families, all over the country, are dealing with the reality of family members fighting mental illness.

And, Mitt and his fellow Vichy Republicans still can’t figure out why Conservatives in the Heartland will not vote for them, in Presidential Elections.

Palin Warns GOP Establishment: “Keep Gloating…No Voting”

palin-newsweekOnce the ballots were counted after Tuesday’s State Primaries around the country, it was discovered that “Republican Establishment” Candidates had scored some victories over local “TEA Party” Candidates. Immediately, the Vichy Republicans and their “Cheerleaders” began to gloat about their victories.

As Tony Lee of Breitbart.com reported…

The Republican establishment gloated after three underfunded Tea Party challengers failed to knock off incumbent Republicans in primaries on Tuesday while another establishment-backed candidate secured the GOP nomination for Senate in North Carolina.

“Next up is that fraud @MattBevin! #GOP,” tweeted Jahan Wilcox, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who is now the RNC’s director of rapid response. (He later deleted it and said his thoughts were his “personal opinions.”)

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) defeated her primary challenger Frank Roche despite a series of high-profile outbursts in support of amnesty. Ellmers was heavily backed by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us group.

“Folks should be talking more about Ellmers,” tweeted Becky Tallent, a senior aide to Speaker John Boehner who formerly served as one of Sen. John McCain’s top amnesty lieutenants.

Boehner (R-OH) unsurprisingly coasted to victory against challenger J.D Winteregg. In response, Ana Navarro, the Jeb Bush ally, promptly tweeted,”Congratulations to @johnboehner on decisive primary win. Rumors of his demise were greatly exagerated….who’s crying now?”

Ohio freshman Rep. David Joyce defeated Matt Lynch, who was endorsed by FreedomWorks and Ron Paul, which prompted Brian Walsh, the former NRSC director of communications who still advises the group, to tweet, “BOOM.”
In the night’s main event, Tillis avoided what would have been a costly runoff to win the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate by securing more than 40% of the vote. He will take on vulnerable incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) in the fall. Tillis defeated Greg Brannon — who was backed by FreedomWorks, Rand Paul, the Senate Conservatives Fund, and nearly every local Tea Party group — and Mark Harris — who received the support of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Meanwhile, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, the Chamber of Commerce, and American Crossroads backed Tillis for the win.
NRSC Chairman Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) congratulated Tillis and said he is “a strong contrast with Kay Hagan who, beyond ObamaCare and being a rubber stamp for Barack Obama, has little to show for her time in Washington.”

“Kay Hagan promised to be an independent voice for North Carolina, but instead has voted with President Obama an astounding 96 percent of the time,” Moran said. “It’s far from the only promise that Kay Hagan broke to voters in North Carolina. By November, this race will be a clear contrast between an effective candidate versus an ineffective Senator.”

Rand Paul immediately congratulated Tillis on his Facebook page and said he looks “forward to working with him in the Senate.”

“I congratulate my friend Greg Brannon on a well fought race and encourage all the candidates to unite for victory in November,” Paul said, in a statement with a notably conciliatory tone.

TEA Party Favorite, the strong Reagan Conservative, whom I call the “Arctic Fox”, Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, wrote the following on her Facebook Page…

C’mon now, guys. This gloating among establishment Republicans calls for the same reprimand we parents offer 12-year-olds who scuffle on the playground. I often remind my young daughter, especially, after her ball games, of the importance of being considerate and gracious in both victory and defeat.

Congratulations to candidates in yesterday’s small pool of state primary elections who will now move on to their respective general elections. Now, knock off the gloating. The GOP establishment must ratchet any kind of arrogance way down and get in touch with independent, constitutional conservatives who build the base of the party. They do the thankless work to put boots on the ground for your campaigns, and they show up to vote if you give us good reason to vote. Anything less and we will not secure victory for America this fall.

Surely, politicians and high paid D.C. consultants, you realize we all need to work together after these valuable competitive primaries that offer good debate and clear awareness of candidates’ positions, right? It’s extremely off-putting to witness post-primary smugness. Well-funded campaigns that rub a victory in the face of primary challengers’ supporters sure don’t endear the winning campaign to voters who are beyond tired of the selfish political games that have gotten the country into the mess we’re in. Your gloating causes apathy, if not downright disgust, among concerned citizens who want to remind you: “It’s not about you.”

You’re perpetuating an “us versus them” mentality with this gloating. That does our cause of defending our republic and all our freedoms and opportunities no good. Are we not on the same side, standing firm on all platform planks that empower the people instead of growing government? The people you’re mocking comprise the base of your own party, remember? To paraphrase the great Ronald Reagan: Rein it in and humbly learn how much we can accomplish together for America when we don’t care who gets the credit.

Bottom line: Politicos, more friends are needed leading up to the general election. Poking potential friends in the eye doesn’t earn the allies needed to win.

Piper and her schoolgirl friends would tell you as much.

Beltway politicians and Pundits live in a bubble.  They have disassociated themselves from the common people.  The two times the Beltway Elite Republicans actually seem to pay attention to the wishes of Americans in the Heartland is when we melt the Congressional Phone Lines down and threaten their well-paying jobs…and, come Election Time.

That’s why the rise of the Tea Party movement and America’s return to Conservatism, which resulted in the political massacre known as the Midterm Elections, was such a surprise to them.  In their self-imposed isolation, they actually thought that the America people wanted them to continue their deal-making, soul-selling, business-as-usual politics.

Now, Republicans are scrambling, trying to figure out how to appease an angry electorate and keep their cushy jobs, in the face of their mishandling of the catastrophe known as Obamacare and their support in the push for Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.

The US Chamber of Commerce is one of the key players in the Vichy Republicans’ push for Amnesty.

Hence, the Crony Capitalist-funded victorious state campaigns of the before-mentioned Republican Acolytes.

Hey…somebody’s got to “pick de cotton”.

Pundits are trying to give the GOP Establishment all the cover they can, while offering criticism in columns specifically written as to not cost the pundit their place on the Broadcast television networks’ Sunday morning shows or to cause them to be left off the invitation list for all the cool Beltway cocktail parties, and noew, specifically designed to discourage and disassemble the TEA Party Movement.

In summation, as Former Governor Palin pointed out, there is still an us and them mentality in the Beltway, among the resurgent Republican Party.

Even with these Primary Victories, if the Republicans don’t legislate as Conservatives, and ignore the message sent to them by American voters on November 2nd, 2010, it won’t matter if the Pundits praise them or criticize them, they will be out of a job.

After all, there is much more to America than just the Beltway.  And there are a lot more American voters than there are ” Severely Conservative” Politicians and Pundits.

President Obama Told You to Ignore Me

obamabillofrightsI don’t know why the president wants you to ignore me. I mean, what harm can my daily posts, which I have been writing since April of 2010, do to the Leader of the Free World? After all, he has the entire Federal Government at his disposal, along with the Democrat Party and, now it seems, a majority of the Republican Party, as well. However, yesterday, he appeared on national television and said,

Because we’ve all got a lot of work to do on behalf of the American people – and that includes the hard work of regaining their trust. Our system of self-government doesn’t function without it. And now that the government is reopened, and this threat to our economy is removed, all of us need to stop focusing on the lobbyists, and the bloggers, and the talking heads on radio, and the professional activists who profit from conflict, and focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do – and that’s grow this economy, create good jobs, strengthen the middle class, lay the foundation for broad-based prosperity, and get our fiscal house in order for the long haul.

Why does he want you to ignore me? After all, I’m just a little nobody. Heck, I don’t even get paid to write. It’s just something I do to vent. I do it because I enjoy it. I’m just an average Christian American, living an average life, in one of the “57 states”, as the president once referred to our country.

Obama is supposedly the smartest person in any room he walks into. Just ask the Main Stream Media…they will confirm that. And, if they won’t…Obama most certainly will.

How does little ol’ me threaten the most powerful man on the face of the world?

Is he intimidated by “words, just words” from anonymous Americans? Surely he isn’t. (And, don’t call me Shirley.) He mentioned “regaining the trust” of the American people. Coming out the day after the opposition party capitulated to you against the wishes of their Conservative Base, and calling out that same base, in no uncertain terms, reminds me of an imperious, didactic visiting lecturer, who believes that he intrinsically knows more that every student in his classroom. (Oh wait. That used to be you, at the University of Chicago, didn’t it, Mr. President? Oops. My bad.)

Being petulant and arrogant will not help you “win back America’s trust”, Scooter. Especially, since you never had it in the first place.

As far as growing the economy, that is the job of American Entrepreneurs. You remember them, don’t you Mr. President? They’re the ones whom you have taxed and penalized so harshly that they moved their businesses overseas.

Socialism does not lead to prosperity, sir. It has been tried numerous times…and has failed wherever it was put in place.  Capitalism leads to prosperity. All it takes is hard work, inspiration, and perspiration.

It takes Pookie getting off the coach, and earning her own money, instead of living off of those Americans who actually go to a job everyday.

During your “I won” Speech yesterday, you also said,

Those of us who have the privilege to serve this country have an obligation to do our job as best we can. We come from different parties, but we are Americans first. And that’s why disagreement cannot mean dysfunction. It can’t degenerate into hatred. The American people’s hopes and dreams are what matters, not ours. Our obligations are to them. Our regard for them compels us all, Democrats and Republicans, to cooperate, and compromise, and act in the best interests of our nation –- one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Allow me to translate. after all, ignorant ol’ crackas like myself, living here in America’s Heartland, may have trouble understanding a brilliant Hahvahd Graduate like yourself. What I believe you were saying was…

All of you peons need to understand who is charge around here. Dissent will not be tolerated. You will bow down and obey my commands, fulfilling my desire to make America a socialist nation. If you disagree with me, I will pout. Then, I will call you out, in front of the Main Stream Media, who will then attack you like a bunch of coyotes attacking a wounded deer. Placating the 47% is what is important…for as long as we give them their “benefits”, we Democrats will keep getting re-elected. And, if you Vichy Republicans want to keep your perks and privileged status, you will shut up and go along with whatever I want. Because, whatever I want, is what is best for the country…regardless of what Americans actually want. After all…what do they know?

Now, some of you may think that I am being a bit harsh with my translation. However, when you think about the present state of America The Beautiful, the harsh reality is…I was not harsh enough. There is no doubt in my mind that our Founding Fathers would be highly upset with today’s professional politicians and the Petulant President. Jefferson, Franklin, and Madison would read Congress the Riot Act. Gen. Washington would probably bust ol’ Scooter right in the proboscis.

You see, President Obama, that last line you threw in there: “one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all”…when you say it, it reeks of unfathomable hypocrisy.

For the last 5 years, you have done your best to divide this nation, through your rhetoric espousing Class Warfare.

You have sought to limit American Christians’ daily walk with God, while glorifying the political ideology of Islam, even though their most ardent practitioners want to behead each and every American, while American Christians simply want to be allowed to speak to someone who needs to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ.

As far as liberty and justice are concerned, you and your Administration seem to be more concerned about protecting the “rights” of illegal immigrants, the Occupy Movement and Muslim Terrorists, than the rights of American Veterans to visit the National Monuments built to honor their sacrifice on our behalf.

To repeat my original question: What harm can my daily posts, which I have been writing since April of 2010, do to the Leader of the Free World?

Sunshine illuminates everything.

Until He Comes,

KJ
