In the late 1950s, in the island nation of Cuba, just 90 miles away from southernmost tip of the United States of America, Rebel Forces led by the Castro Brothers and the merciless Che Guevara, overthrew Cuba’s Dictator who was backed by the United States government.
They installed a socialist regime that eliminated the Free Press and killed and imprisoned their enemies who spoke out against them while becoming wealthy on the backs of those who they promised to free from tyranny.
On this Sunday morning, after last Tuesday’s Midterms that saw the election of a number of Democratic Socialists into our national and Municipal governments, I sit here wondering if we have seen the start of something that the United States was never meant to engage in and that previous generations of Americans have given their lives to defend us from.
I have been wondering what those who escaped the regime of the Castro Brothers to find refuge in South Florida thought about all the young people wearing Che Guevara T-shirts and all of the useful idiots who think that socialism is going to be wonderful.
If socialism is so wonderful why have people given their lives fighting against it and have jumped on rickety rafts to try to escape to America, a country that they viewed would give them the individual freedom that they wanted bad enough to risk their lives for?
I was also thinking about are actions to free Venezuela and give them a Fighting Chance at individual freedom. Venezuela had once been a beautiful nation in the middle of an industrial age of modernization.
Then the Socialists took over and everything was done for the good of the state.
Socialism is the step before Communism in Marxist Theory.
Now, those who embrace it in this present age will tell you that’s not right.
However, then they are contradicting Karl Marx himself, who came up with this failed political ideology.
In the environmental protest song, “Big Yellow Taxi”, written and recorded by Joni Mitchell in 1970, the catch phrase is “Don’t it always seem to go, you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone”.
This time it’s not the environment that’s at stake, it’s our American Freedom.
I hope and pray that Americans don’t find that out first-hand.
Until He Comes,
