Why is it that Memphis is never mentioned nationally, unless someone does something. this imbecilic?

WREG-TV Channel 3, the CBS Affiliate in my hometown of Memphis, TN reports that

“Gone With the Wind” will be gone from The Orpheum’s summer movie series, the theater’s board said Friday.

The Orpheum Theatre Group decided not to include the 1939 movie about a plantation in the Civil War-era South in its 2018 Summer Movie Series after feedback from patrons following the last screening Aug. 11.

“As an organization whose stated mission is to ‘entertain, educate and enlighten the communities it serves’, the Orpheum cannot show a film that is insensitive to a large segment of its local population,” the theater’s operators said in a statement.

Memphis’ population is about 64 percent African-American.

The historic theater in Downtown Memphis has shown the movie for decades, but this year’s event “generated numerous comments,” leading to the decision.

“While title selections for the series are typically made in the spring of each year, the Orpheum has made this determination early in response to specific inquiries from patrons,” the Orpheum group said.

The theater’s 2018 movie series will be announced in the spring and will contain classic films and more recent blockbusters.

For several years, this majestic theatre, located in Downtown Memphis, has been home to touring Broadway Plays, concerts featuring well-known stars such as Frankie Valli, and a Summer Movie Series, fearing classic movies shown on a huge screen, like they used to be in the theatre which was formerly named The Malco-Downtown.

In fact, as a loudmouthed little kid, I can remember my sister, who is 9 years older than myself, and her date taking me to see the movie “Stagecoach”, starring John Wayne, at that very theatre.

But, I digress.

The reaction to this boneheaded move by The Orpheum, judging from my family and friends’ postings on Social Media, has been less than approving.

In fact, the first reaction is disbelief. As I have written before, why is his current “mission” by Liberals and their “useful idiots” to pull an “ISIS” and get rid of all things pertaining to the Confederacy and the “Northern Aggression” (as we call it in Dixie) even a concern in a city struggling to pull itself up by the bootstraps after decades of Municipal Mismanagement. Not to mention the fact that the Former “City of Good Abode” is now listed as the second most dangerous city in America!

The second is anger…against the powers-that-be who are running the Orpheum.

Where was all of this Liberal “Concern” while a black man was propping his feet up on the Resolute Desk at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC for the previous 8 years?

Are these “Holy Crusaders for Equality” pulling this garbage about purging the Confederacy from memory because the “Russia-Trump Collusion Story” is turning out to be one gigantic Nothingburger?

Why censor a classic movie which won 8 Oscars, another 10 wins, and nominations in the name of sensitivity?

The stupid Lone Ranger Movie starring Johnny Depp as Tonto offended me and a lot of other Americans more than “Gone With the Wind” ever has.

If the movie offends you…don’t go to see it!

Let those of us who want to come see it on the big screen have the opportunity to continue to do so.

It is sort of like me boycotting the new “Match Game” because some moron made Alec Baldwin the host.

I’m not missing anything and I am experiencing less aggravation this way.

In reading this, I am sure that some Liberals will have a “case of the vapors” and throw a hissy fit over me blasting the Orpheum Theatre for kissing history-ignorant Liberals’ ample backsides over this issue.

However,

Frankly my dear…I don’t give a damn.
